Maa Bhadrakali’s Shrine is one of the oldest temples of the Ferocious Goddess, Maa Kali. Kurukshetra, which is primarily dedicated to pind daan and the place where Lord Krishna said the Geeta and where the great battle of Mahabharat took place, is also famous for this Maa's Temple. Before going to the fight, the Pandavas with Lord Krishna is said to have visited this temple and prayed for their victory of Dharma over Adharma and then later on after their victory presented Maa Kali a pair of horses at this temple.
This Kali Mata/ Maa Kaali/ Bhadrakali temple is one of the primitive Shakti Peeth amongst the main 52 in this world. This temple is fully dedicated to Badrakhali, a stern form of Shakti. As per the famous Shiva-Sati story,, it is alleged that the Right Ankle of Mata Sati fell here in a well in front of this temple. Presently a metal right ankle idol has been placed in front of Maa Kali's main idol/ murti being worshipped by all. This Shaktipeeth is otherwise also refered as Savitripeeth, Devikoop, Kalikapeeth.
The consort of Savitri is called Sthanu. Hence, the city is called Sthaneswar or Thanesar. Here the devotees offer terracotta horse that is a mud horse, to the deity for having their wishes fulfilled. You will find various horse idols in the center of the Mandir Verandah facing the lotus in the center. The devotees feel sanctified after coming here and they force themselves to come again to the shrine as the serene helps the mind to relax.

BRAHMA SAROVAR KURUKSHETRA HD
BRAHMA SAROVAR KURUKSHETRA
Brahma Sarovar is an ancient water tank sacred to Hinduism in Thanesar, in the state of Haryana in North India.[1] Hinduism lays emphasis on taking bath for internal and external purity. Most religious sites have water tanks or sarovar in or near thetemple/gurdwara.
According to stories of myths, Lord Brahma created the universe from the land of Kurukshetra after a huge yajna. The Brahma Sarovar here is believed to be the cradle of civilization. The sarovar is also mentioned in the eleventh century AD memoirs of Al Beruni, called ‘Kitab-ul-Hind’. The sarovar also has a mention in Mahabharata citing its use by Duryodhana as a place for hiding himself under water on the concluding day of the war.
A sacred shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva stands within the sarovar, accessible by a small bridge. According to scriptures, bathing in this sarovar increases the sanctity of performing the ‘ashvamedh yajna’. The tank offers a breath-taking sight during the Gita Jayanti celebrations held in the last week of November and early December every year when there will be ‘deep daan’ and ‘aarti’. This also happens to be the time when migratory birds from distant places wing it to the sarovar. The Birla Gita Mandir and Baba Nath’s haveli and temple are the neighbouring attractions.
The historic Brahma Sarovar has been renovated with modern facilities and pathways. It is 3600 feet long and 1500 feet broad and is in the shape of perfect rectangular. The tanks are especially crowded during solar eclipse because it is believed that a dip there during the solar eclipse absolves one of all sins. It is considered as one of the largest man-made ponds.
About 10,00,000 people visited the lake and took a dip in the water on 29 March 2006 which was a solar eclipse day. During every solar eclipse day, lakhs of people take dip during the eclipse time as well as during the entire day and pray for sun god. One of the most delightful occasions is the Gita Jyanti celebrations held in the last week of November or the first week of December. The tank presents breath-taking spectacle of Deep daan (ceremony of floating lamps in water) and Aarti organized on this occasion. All around the world participates at this occasion. We can see a big crowd at these occasions. By Kailash Mansarovar Foundation Swami Bikash Giri sumeruparvat.com , naturalitem.com

Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple - (Journey to Kurukshetra)
The ancient Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple is situated in Thanesar in the district of Kurukshetra. It was here that the Pandavas prayed to Lord Shiva and received his blessings for victory in the Battle of Kurukshetra.
Sannihit Sarovar Thanesar Kurukshetra
Brahma Sarovar Kurukshetra
Brahma Sarovar is an ancient water tank sacred to Hinduism in Thanesar, Kurukshetra in the state of Haryana in North India.
Shri Sarveshwar Mahadev temple within Brahma Sarovar, Kurukshetra
Brahma Sarovar is one of the holiest water tanks in all of Kurukshetra. Located in the in Thanesar area, this is the place where Lord Brahma conceived the earth planet. It is also said that Lord Brahma created the entire universe from the land of Kurukshetra, after performing a large yajna. Thus, Brahma Sarovar is considered to be the cradle of civilisation. The Sarovar itself is understood to represent the naval of Lord Brahma.
The Sarovar itself is 3,600 x 1,500 feet in size. Taking bath here in the sacred waters will result in the same pious credits as performing 'Ashvamedha Yajna'. Pilgrims flock here in especially large numbers to bathe on days of solar eclipse. Krsna, Balarama, and Subhadra came here to bathe during a solar eclipse, and the Kauravas and Pandavas also came here to take holy bath.
Brahma Sarovar is also the dhama of Lord Mahadev. There is a small lotus-shaped temple built within the lake, which is linked to outer sides by a small bridge. Sarveshwar Mahadev temple faces the entrance to the Sarovar. In the middle of the tank are various islands housing other temples and important shrines. Arched enclosures along the way provide shade and protection for pilgrims, and for the sadhus who congregate here to perform austerities and meditate.
During several weeks in the summer, some 500,000 people per day come to Brahma Sarovar. During winter, migratory birds from far off places also visit this holy tank. In late November, early December, deepa daan (floating lamps on the water) and aarti ceremonies are conducted here on Gita Jayanti, with great devotional fervor.
