detail dedcribe from wikipedia-
Bhaktapur Durbar Square Bhaktapur Durbar Square is the plaza in front of the royal palace of the old BhaktapurKingdom, 1,400 metres (4,600 ft) above sea level.[1] It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many tourists attraction is toward the pachpann jhyale durbar
The Bhaktapur Durbar Square is located in the current town of Bhaktapur, also known as Bhadgaon,[1] which lies 13 km east of Kathmandu. While the complex consists of at least four distinct squares (Durbar Square, Taumadhi Square, Dattatreya Square and Pottery Square),[2] the whole area is informally known as the Bhaktapur Durbar Square and is a highly visited site in the Kathmandu Valley
BHAKTAPUR DURBAR SQUARE
Bhaktapur Durbar Square, located in the center of Bhaktapur city, is a conglomeration of pagoda and shikhara-style temples grouped around a fifty-five window palace of brick and wood. The square is one of the most charming architectural showpieces of the Valley as it highlights the ancient arts of Nepal. The golden effigies of kings perched on the top of stone monoliths, the guardian deities looking out from their sanctuaries, the wood carvings in every place-struts, lintels, uprights, tympanums, gateways and windows-all seem to form a well-orchestrated symphony. The main items of interest in the Durbar Square are:
The Lion Gate : Dating as far back as A.D. 1696, this gate is guarded on either side by two huge statues of lions. Alongside, there are two stone images of Bhairav (the dreadful aspect of Shiva) and Ugrachandi (the consort of Shiva in her fearful manifestation).
The Golden Gate : The Golden Gate is said to be the most beautiful and richly moulded specimen of its kind in the entire world. The door is surmounted by a figure of the goddess Kali and Garuda (the mythical man-bird) and attended by two heavenly nymphs. It is also embellished with mythical creatures of marvellous intricacy, In the words of Percy Brown, an eminent English art critic and historian, the Golden Gate is the most lovely piece of art in the whole Kingdom: it is placed like a jewel, flashing innumerable facets in the handsome setting of its surroundings. The gate was erected by King Ranjit Malla and is the entrance of the main courtyard of the Palace of Fifty-five Windows.
The Palace of Fifty-five Windows : This magnificent palace was built during the reign of King Yakshya Malla in A.D. 1427 and was subsequently remodelled by King Bhupatindra Malla in the seventeenth century. Among the brick walls with their gracious setting and sculptural design, is a balcony with Fifty-five Windows, considered to be a unique masterpiece of woodcarving.
The Art Gallery: The Art Gallery contains ancient paintings belonging to the Hindu and Buddhist traditions of various periods and descriptions. This gallery is open everyday except Tuesday.
The Statue of King Bhupatindra Malla: This statue showing King Bhupatindra Malla in the act of worship is set on a column facing the palace. Of the square's many statues, this is considered to be the most magnificent.

भारतीय राजाको विक्रम सम्बत् भन्दा नेपाल सम्बतको महान् ईतिहास Nepal Sambat Great History
Nepal Sambat was started in 879 AD during the reign of King Raghav Dev to commemorate the payment of all the debts of the Nepalese people by a Nepalese trader named Sankhadhar Sakhwa. According to the legend, the astrologer of the king of Bhaktapur calculated the auspicious time and date when sand swept down by the river to the confluence of the Bhacha Khushi and Bishnumati River in Kathmandu would contain gold.
So the king sent a team of porters to Kathmandu to collect sand from the spot at the special hour. A local merchant named Sankhadhar Sakhwa saw them resting with their baskets of sand at a traveler's shelter at Maru near Durbar Square. The men had decided to take a break before returning to Bhaktapur. Sankhadhar thought it strange that people should come all this distance just to get sand. Thinking that the sand might be special, he talked the porters into dumping their load at his home, convincing them that they could always get more.
Later, Sankhadhar found gold in his sand, while the king of Bhaktapur was left with a pile of ordinary sand which his porters had dug up after the auspicious hour had passed. Sankhadhar used the windfall to repay everybody's debts and cancel their IOUs and start a new calendar. The name Nepal Sambat was used for the calendar for the first time in Nepal Sambat 148 (1028 AD).
Removal and revival
Nepal Sambat was replaced as the national calendar in Rana Period of Nepal. The victory of the Gorkha Kingdom resulted in the end of the Malla dynasty and the advent of The Shahs used Saka era. However, Nepal Sambat remained in official use for a time even after the coming of the Shahs. For example, the treaty with Tibet signed during the reign of Pratap Singh Shah is dated Nepal Sambat 895 (1775 AD).
The founder
The Nepal Sambat movement achieved its first success on 18 November 1999 when the government declared the founder of the calendar, a trader of Kathmanu named Shankhadhar Sakhwa, a national hero. On 26 October 2003, the Department of Postal Service issued a commemorative postage stamp depicting his portrait. A statue of Sankhadhar was erected in Tansen, Palpa in western Nepal on 28 January 2012.
The government has decided to set up Sankhadhar Sakhwa National Academy in the name of the founder of the era.

Nyatapola Temple | Bhatapur | Cultural Heritage site
Ngatapola Temple is a 5-Roof. Meaning is Five Storeys Roofed Temple. Pagoda Style temple located in Bhaktapur, Nepal. The temple was erected by Nepali King Bhupatindra Malla during a 7-month period from late 1702 to 1703. It is the temple of Siddhi Lakshmi, the Tantric Lakshmi who bestows auspiciousness. Bhaktapur is one of the three cities found in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal not far from the capital city of Kathmandu. The name Bhaktapur means City of Devotees. Today this ancient, medieval city, from the fifteenth century, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site, which records buildings that are of cultural and natural value universally. It was built only in 17 months from the time it started. King Bhupatindra Malla`s account book state that it was built in only 7 months by the help of other neighbors like Challing, Jitpur, Bagshowari, Shakhu, Jhaukhel, Changu, Gokarna, Paunati, etc. His kingdom had bad relations with neighbors to the west like Kritipur and Kantipur. So to show them that he is also powerful, he built it. It was built in a time when the Taj Mahal was under construction. He also stated that he had built 7 brick factory for bricks and all raw materials were brought in advance. The biggest challenge was to bring a huge stone from challing which is almost 9 km from the temple. At last, he calls for the feast to all citizen and neighbors kings to show. In that feast, about 23,000 people were there; which was the 4 times of a citizen of Bhaktapur. It was written in a thick book which was discovered by Dr. Madan Lal Vaidya. -Wikipedia
tempio Nyatapola a Taumadi Tole antica città di Bhaktapur
04/01/2012
Kailashnath Mahadev Statue, Nyatapola Temple and the memories we've made on holiday.
Kailashnath Mahadev Statue (Nepali: कैलाशनाथ महादेव) is the world's tallest Shiva statue. It is situated in Sanga, on the border of the Bhaktapur and Kavrepalanchwok districts in Nepal, about 20 km from Kathmandu. Vatsala Temple
Vatsala Temple was a stone temple dedicated to goddess Vatsala Devi that included many carvings. It was most famous for its silver bell, known to local residents as the bell of barking dogs as when it was rung, dogs in the vicinity barked and howled. The colossal bell was hung by King Ranjit Malla in 1737 AD and was used to sound the daily curfew. It was rung every morning when goddess Taleju was worshiped. Despite the Temple being completely demolished by the 2015 Gorkha earthquake, the bell remains intact.

KATHMANDU 4 Places in Kathmandu Valley you most Visit
I always visit those four places in Kathmandu valley during my Nepal trip. If you are also planning to visit Nepal, don’t forget to visit those places. In this article, I am sharing some information about those places. Last year, the massive earthquake destroyed some heritages, temples and ancient places in Nepal. More than 700 monuments in Kathmandu and its environs were damaged in the quake. But that earthquake couldn’t damage natural and ancient beauty of Nepal.
1. Pashupatinath
The Pashupatinath Temple, with its astonishing architectural beauty, stands as a symbol of faith, religion, culture and tradition. Regarded as the most sacred temple of ‘Hindu Lord Shiva’ in the world, Pashupatinath Temple’s existence dates back to 400 A.D. This is located on the banks of the Bagmati River in Kathmandu. Thousands of pilgrims from all over the world come to pay homage to this temple, which is also known as ‘The Temple of Living Beings’. This temple complex is on UNESCO World Heritage Site’s list since 1979. Gold-painted images of guardian deities, Chaturmukha (four-faced statue), Chadeshvar (an inscribed Licchavi linga from the 7th century), Brahma Temple, Dharmashila (a stone where sacred oaths are taken), Arya Ghat, Gauri Ghat (holy bath), Pandra Shivalaya (15 shrines), Gorakhnath and Vishwarup Temples, Guhyeshwari (Guhjeshwari) Temple, Kirateshwar Mahadeva Mandir and Surya Ghat are main attractions in Pashupatinath area. There is no major damage in Pashupatinath because of the earthquake.
Sadhus are especially common at Pashupatinath. In Hinduism, Sadhu is a religious ascetic.
2. Swayambhunath
The Buddhist temple of Swayambhunath, situated on the top of a hill, west of Kathmandu, is one of the most popular, holy and instantly recognizable symbols of Nepal. The temple is colloquially known as the ‘monkey temple’ because of the large tribe of roving monkeys who guard the temple. One of the major Attractions is the Stupa. Swayambhunath Stupa is a golden spire crowning a conical wooded hill. It is the most ancient and enigmatic of all the holy shrines in Kathmandu Valley. ‘Area Surrounding The Stupa’ is also another major attraction.
Swayambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple as there are holy monkeys living in the north-west parts of the temple.
The surroundings of Swyambhunarayan Stupa consists of chaityas, temples, painted images of deities and numerous other religious objects. Another attraction Harati Temple is dedicated to the goddess of smallpox and other epidemics. The presence of the Harati Devi temple signifies the intermingling of the pantheons of Hinduism and Buddhism in Nepal. Atop Syambunath hill is another fascinating, though less visited temple, Shantipur, popularly known as the ‘Palace of Peace’. It is said that inside the secret underground chamber of the temple lives the 8th-century Tantric master, Shankar Acharya. The master, it is believed, has lived through centuries and has full control on the weather and the King of Kathmandu must go to him in times of drought. There is no major damage in Swayambhunath because of the earthquake.
3. Bhaktapur Durbar Square
Bhaktapur Durbar Square is the plaza in front of the royal palace of the old Bhaktapur Kingdom. It is one of three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Bhaktapur Durbar Square is an assortment of the pagoda and shikhara-style temples grouped around a fifty-five-window palace of brick and wood. The square is part of a charming valley as it highlights the idols of ancient kings perched on top of stone monoliths, the guardian deities looking out from their sanctuaries, the wood carvings in very place - struts, lintels, tympanums, gateways and windows - all seem to form a well-orchestrated symphony. The Palace of Fifty-five Windows, the world famous Golden gate of Bhaktapur, the magnificent and beautiful lion gate, Mini Pashupatinath Temple, Batsala Temple, Statue of Bhupatindra Malla, Bhairava Nath Temple and Nyatapola Temple are major attractions in Bhaktapur Durbar Square. On April 25th, 2015 a 7.8 magnitude earthquake destroyed so many attractions in Kathmandu Durbar Square including Vatsala Durga Temple and Fasidega temple.
JuJu Dhau (King Curd) is my favorite in Bhaktapur.
4. Kathmandu Durbar SquareKathmandu Durbar Square is one of the important historic and tourist destinations in Nepal. This massive complex is home to palaces, temples and courtyards. The original center of Kathmandu is often named as Basantapur, Hanuman Dhoka or Durbar Square all denoting the same location. Kathmandu Durbar square has various historical royal and governmental institutions mixed with temples of different styles and ages. It may seem a little bit crowded with lots of buildings and temples built

The temple was erected by Nepali King Bhupatindra Malla during a 5-month period from late 1701 into 1702. It is the temple of Siddha Laxmi, the Hindu goddess of prosperity.
One of the temples that are still in existence today is the Nyatapola Temple, which was built in 1702 A.D. under the rule of King Bhupatindra Malla. This beautifully sculptured building is considered one of the tallest pagodas in the country and is a lovely example of the immense workmanship that went into buildings of this type. This five-storey temple with a five-tier roof that stands just over thirty meters high can be reached by walking up a flight of steps that leads to the top of the platform. As you walk up these terraces you will notice that there are statues on either side of you, on every step.

Percy Brown, an eminent English art critic and historian, described the Golden Gate as the most lovely piece of art in the whole Kingdom; it is placed like a jewel, flashing innumerable facets in the handsome setting of its surroundings. The gate was erected by King Ranjit Malla and is the entrance to the main courtyard of the palace of fifty-five windows.

Beauty of nepal
Bhaktapur Durbar Square
Bhaktapur Durbar Square the city is also known, is a museum of medieval art and architecture with many examples of sculpture, woodcarving and colossal pagoda temples consecrated to different gods and goddesses which is 15 km far from Kathmandu. It is a conglomeration of pagoda and shikhara-style temples grouped around a fifty-five window palace of brick and wood. Pottery and weaving are its major traditional industries.

Nyatapola Temple - Bhaktapur, Nepal
Nyatapola temple and its complex in Nepal. One can see stalls selling a variety of paintings and books. Tourists in large numbers visit the temple.
In the eighteenth century Bhaktapur was known country-wide for its production of quality pottery pieces and beautiful art works, which included sculptures completed in both wood and stone. Today this reputation Bhaktapur has continues and is sustained by the tourist industry, which flourishes in this area. The city gives you a glimpse of what life was like centuries ago having changed very little since it was first formed.
Durbar Square can be found in the center of Bhaktapur and like Kathmandu contains many beautiful temples where the Nepalese people can go and pay homage to one of the many Hindu gods. At one point the square was crowded with temples and statues but with the 1934 earthquake many of these ancient buildings were destroyed and to this day have yet to be built again. In comparison to the city of Patan, the Bhaktapur Durbar Square is bigger and more neatly laid out but with many empty spaces where temples once stood.
Nyatapola Temple is a 5-storey pagoda located in Bhaktapur, Nepal. The temple was erected by Nepali King Bhupatindra Malla during a 5-month period from late 1701 into 1702. It is the temple of Siddha Laxmi, the Hindu goddess of prosperity.

Deputy Mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi and locals insisted on building it in traditional ways. Now, it is being rebuilt in the original form - like that built in 1665 AD. The pond was built in the memory of Chakrabatendra Malla, Pratap Malla's son. King Pratap Malla used to go to the pond for bathing every morning. One day he met a beautiful girl and fell in love.... That is the story behind the elephant carrying Patap Malla his queen and his son.
