Bhutto Family Mausoleum
Mausoleum of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is situated at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, in Larkana District, Sindh, Pakistan.
The mazar is notable for containing the graves of the Bhutto family and being the burial place of Zulfikar, Murtaza, Nusrat, and Benazir Bhutto.
The history of the mausoleum began in 1979 when Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was buried here.
This was already then the ancestral graveyard of the Bhutto family.
Benazir Bhutto initiated the construction of the mausoleum.
Initial construction was done during 1993 to 1997 with architect Zaigham Jaffery.
He visited Khomeini and Ataturk’s mazaars to seek inspiration and also tried to incorporate elements from the Shalimar Gardens, Lahore.
The revised design by Waqar Akbar Rizvi included five domes and four iwans like the Taj Mahal.
The building is covered with white marble.
Glazed tiles inscribed with calligraphy and fresco work and based on Sindhi Hala patterns have been used.

Garhi Khuda Bakhsh is a village in Ratodero Taluka near Naudero, Sindh, Pakistan. It is notable for containing the family graveyard of the Bhutto family and for being the burial place of Zulfiqar, Murtaza, and Benazir Bhutto, in the mausoleum. It was founded by Khuda Bakhsh Khan Bhutto. This was a family of feudal lords that headed the Bhutto clan.
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the father of Benazir, was buried in the village after being executed following a military coup that removed him from power. On 27 October 2007, nine days after the first assassination attempt against her after returning from exile, Benazir Bhutto arrived in the village amidst tight security to visit her father's mausoleum—she was greeted by 4,000 supporters in the village.
Two months later on 28 December, following her assassination, she was buried in the mausoleum where hundreds of thousands of mourners had gathered. The following year on what would have been her 55th birthday, party activists arranged a function to pay tribute to her.

STORYLINE:
Pakistani opposition leader, Nawaz Sharif, visited the grave of the assassinated politician Benazir Bhutto on Saturday, where he laid a wreath and prayed.
Earlier Sharif had been to Bhutto's ancestral residence in Naudero, where he was expected to meet with Bhutto's husband, Asif Ali Zardari.
Bhutto was killed on Thursday evening when a suicide attacker shot at her and then blew himself up as she left a rally in the garrison city of Rawalpindi near Islamabad.
Islamic militants said on Saturday they had no link to Bhutto's assassination, dismissing government claims that a leader of pro-Taliban forces in Pakistan orchestrated the suicide attack on the opposition leader.
Bhutto's aides also said they doubted that militant commander Baitullah Mehsud was behind the attack, and accused the government of a cover-up.
Despite the deepening controversy, the Interior Ministry said it did not need foreign help to probe the killing.
The dispute, along with conflicting reports about Bhutto's exact cause of death, could inflame the violence wracking this nuclear-armed nation two days after the popular former prime minister was killed.
Thirty-eight people have died in the unrest.
This is an attack on all of Pakistan, and the democratic process of Pakistan, Ghinva Bhutto said after visiting her sister-in-law's grave.
Meanwhile, with Bhutto's supporters rioting across the country, Pakistan's election commission called an emergency meeting for Monday to discuss the impact on planned January 8 parliamentary elections.
Sharif has said he would boycott the election.

The violent death of the estranged brother of Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has shocked the country and sparked protest in his hometown of Larkana.
Murtaza Bhutto died in a hospital operating room in the early hours of Saturday morning (21/9) after he was shot in a clash with police. Police said that the shoot-out occurred when police stopped two cars escortingMurtaza's Pajero vehicle for a check.
Benazir Bhutto wept and screamed early on Saturday on seeing the body of her estranged brother. The Prime Minister arrived at the hospital barefoot amidst heavy security shortly after 5 a.m. (midnight GMT), looking strained and crying uncontrollably.
Murtaza angrily lambasted his sister's government in his last news conference on Friday afternoon.
