Details from the City of Cockburn web site
To accommodate the needs of the growing community, the City of Cockburn has designed a regional playground to promote inclusivity and celebrate diversity at the new Bibra Lake Regional Playground.
Local wildlife and local Aboriginal heritage inspired many of the features in the playground including giant oblong turtles, climbing frames inspired by Aboriginal fish traps and giant talking rocks placed in a Yarning Circle will share local stories and features of the lake important to Nyungar people for centuries.
The 7,000m2 fenced park also includes swings, a seesaw and flying fox designed to provide maximum access for people of all ages and abilities. Large stainless steel barbecues have under-bench wheelchair recesses to make cooking easy plus retro-fitted custom designed ignition buttons to promote use by people with visually impairment or limited use in their fingers.
The playground will also feature the City's first Changing Places facility with a height-adjustable adult-sized changing table, a tracking hoist and automatic doors, with enough space for two carers to assist.
Other features includes:
Assault course
Skywalk
Big birds nest swing
In-ground trampolines
Sandpit with water play
Giant turtle splash pad
Pole maze
Hollow hill
Diprotodon dig
Accessible latches on fence gates
Sensory play equipment, including sound and water play
