Bidston Hill (2018)
Bidston Hill, heathland and woodland that contains historic buildings and ancient rock carvings. It is located on the Wirral Peninsula, near the Birkenhead suburb of Bidston, in Merseyside, England. Bidston Hill is one of the highest points on the Wirral.
Bidston Windmill replaced a wooden mill that was destroyed by fire in 1791, and was used to grind wheat until about 1875. It is believed that there has been a windmill on this site since 1596.
Bidston Observatory was built in 1866 using local sandstone excavated from the site. One of its functions was to determine the exact time. There has been a lighthouse on Bidston Hill since 1771.
There is a 4 1⁄2-foot-long carving of a Sun Goddess, carved into the flat rock north-east of the Observatory, supposedly facing in the direction of the rising sun on Midsummer's Day. and thought to have been carved by the Norse-Irish around 1000 AD.
During World War II, an air raid shelter was constructed at Bidston Hill. Today the tunnels are concealed for public safety.

Bidston Hill Lighthouse
Bidston Hill Lighthouse, situated on the site of an observatory which played a key part in the working out of tide predictions, for many years drawing up reliable tide timetables from around the world. Today the Lighthouse is inactive and it's houses are maintained as private residences.
Please excuse the levels of brightness; I attempted to correct them but failed. I had my camera's exposure too high.

Bidston flight
This is a flight I made from the top of Bidston hill on the Wirral. I'm flying a Phantom 3 Professional drone. It is very easy to learn to fly this machine with its advanced technology and on-screen information. The main thing that remains for me is to learn how to manage the camera settings.
The New Ferry Ghost
Just before the area was razed to the ground in New ferry, Wirral, a Ghostly figure was seen on the upper floor of the building. The area was previous the residence of a church.

Bidston Deep Shelter also known as The Biddy Tunnels .
Bidston Underground Tunnels For many of the earlier generation the tunnels beneath Bidston were a place to play, a place to explore and a place to hide from the world. But for many years now the tunnels have been shut off from the outside world due to lack of maintenance and persistent health & safety issues. With the exception of the occasional opening to the public, the tunnels are now permanently closed. Minutes of Wirrals Civil Defence Emergency Committee in 1941 reveal that the peninsulas skilled workforce saw it granted almost unprecedented funds to establish two deep air raid shelters. One sprawling under Tranmere around Olive Mount, Thompson Street and Holborn Hill.. The other under Bidston Hills Rhododendron Garden with its entrance facing Hoylake Road. Tickets were to be handed out to ensure access to residents in the event of an air raid. By June 1943 the final bill for the project was £163;48,006 with the corporation paying £163;6510. The tunnels were 7 feet wide and 6 feet high with a large arched roof. A reporter in 1943 advised that due to the unreliable nature of the rock costs increased, and it was noted that the unskilled workforce available had been markedly inferior to the Tranmere Shelter. Less explosives were required in Bidston, and the spoil was tipped close to the entrance which accounts for the rise in the grassed land around the Hoylake Road area. Emergency Committee minutes also reveal that during construction the project was plagued with trespassers and vandalism, Although it never saw the scale of use it was intended for, tickets do still exist and people did shelter under Bidston. There were 2213 bunks and 793 seats, as well as a canteen staff dormitory, toilets, medical posts and a ventilation shaft which could double as an emergency escape hatch if necessary
