Big Bus Vienna City Tour 2018
Sightseeing Tour in and around
A Panoramic View of Vienna. The „Big Bus“! - Hop-on Hop-off! This‘s a very entertaining, sportful, full of fun and enjoyable sightseeing; partly through and around Vienna. The magnificent views of the city from the the elevated double-decker bus, are very fascinating. A feeling you hardly get, while walking around the beautiful city on a walk tour. It adds different feelings. As the bus moves, the precise explanations of the excellent landmarks, in language of your choice, are very pleasant. A classical international touch! Have a look at Wien! The ride appeased me!
Vienna Hop On Hop Off Tour
We're back on the famous Vienna Hop On Hop Off Tour - the Big Bus Tour around the city areas. Along the way we listened to the full guided tour, which was a fantastic account of Vienna's colourful history. This is a beautiful city with an amazing history, wonderfully described on the Big Bus Tours.
The Vienna Military Museum is our biggest attraction this day, it is one of the most amazing museums we've ever been to, and very under-rated. Today we are following the Blue Route of the Big Bus Tour around Vienna, which goes past Schonbrunn Pacace, Military Museum and Belvadere Palace.
We complete full loops of both the red route and the blue route. Along the way, we listened to the full guided tour, which was a fantastic account of Vienna's colorful history. This is a beautiful city with an amazing history, wonderfully described on the Big Bus Tours.
Our highlight on this day was the History Military Museum. This is a remarkable museum, and we were excited to see the tank garden which is home to many restored German tanks. The entry was only 8 Euros for two of us. We explored the WW1 and WW2 sections. It was amazingly eerie to see the war memorabilia from the Nazi perspective as most of the displays were German.
We went through the excellent naval exhibit, then upstairs to the historic/medieval section. This was an amazing display of medieval weapons and armory, as well as many battle scene paintings dating back many centuries.

City primary city, with a population of about 1.8 million , and its cultural, economic, and political centre.
It is the 7th-largest city by population within city limits in the European Union.
Until the beginning of the 20th century, it was the largest German-speaking city in the world, and before the splitting of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in World War I, the city had 2 million inhabitants.
Today, it has the second largest number of German speakers after Berlin.
Is host to many major international organizations, including the United Nations and OPEC.The city is located in the eastern part of Austria and is close to the borders of the Czech Republic, Slovakia.
These regions work together in a European center border region. Along with nearby Bratislava,Vienna forms a metropolitan region with 3 million inhabitants.
In 2001, the city centre was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In July 2017 it was moved to the list of World Heritage in Danger.
Apart from being regarded as the City of Music because of its musical legacy, Vienna is also said to be The City of Dreams because it was home to the world's first psychotherapist – Sigmund Freud.
The city's roots lie in early Celtic and Roman settlements that transformed into a Medieval and Baroque city, and then the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
It is well known for having played an essential role as a leading European music centre, from the great age of Viennese Classicism through the early part of the 20th century.
The historic centre is rich in architectural ensembles, including Baroque castles and gardens, and the late-19th-century Ringstraße lined with grand buildings, monuments and parks.
Is known for its high quality of life. In a 2005 study of 127 world cities, the Economist Intelligence Unit ranked the city first for the world's most live able cities. Between 2011 and 2015, was ranked second, behind Melbourne.
In 2018, it replaced Melbourne as the number one spot. For eight consecutive years , the human-resource-consulting firm Mercer ranked Vienna first in its annual Quality of Living survey of hundreds of cities around the world, a title the city still held in 2016.
Monocle's 2015 Quality of Life Survey ranked Vienna second on a list of the top 25 cities in the world to make a base within.
The UN-Habitat classified Vienna as the most prosperous city in the world in 2012/2013.
The city was ranked 1st globally for its culture of innovation in 2007 and 2008, and sixth globally (out of 256 cities) in the 2014 Innovation Cities Index, which analyzed 162 indicators in covering three areas: culture, infrastructure, and markets.
Vienna regularly hosts urban planning conferences and is often used as a case study by urban planners.
Between 2005 and 2010, was the world's number-one destination for international congresses and conventions. It attracts over 6.8 million tourists a year.
It is composed of 23 districts . Administrative district offices in Vienna serve functions similar to those in the other Austrian states , the officers being subject to the mayor of Vienna; with the notable exception of the police, which is under federal supervision.
District residents in (Austrians as well as EU citizens with permanent residence here) elect a District Assembly.
City hall has delegated maintenance budgets, e.g., for schools and parks, so that the districts are able to set priorities autonomously. Any decision of a district can be overridden by the city assembly or the responsible city councillor
From 1850 to 1904, Vienna had expanded only on the right bank of the Danube, following the main branch before the regulation of 1868–1875, i.e., the Old Danube of today. In 1904, the 21st district was created by integrating Floridsdorf, Kagran, Stadlau, Hirschstetten, Aspern and other villages on the left bank of the Danube into Vienna, in 1910 Strebersdorf followed.

VIENNA PASS | Top things to do in Vienna Austria | Is the Vienna Pass Worth It?
Today, I used the Vienna Pass to visit a lot of great sights in Vienna. The Vienna Pass is different than the Vienna Card. The Vienna Card gives you discounts to a lot of place and is fine. But the Vienna Pass gets you into many top things to do in Vienna Austria for free.
The Vienna Pass is a lot more expensive though. I paid about $120 Euros for a 3-day pass + about 17 Euros for the free transportation add-on. I probably didn't need the transportation add-on because, frankly, the Vienna Hop On Hop Off buses, which are included in the Vienna Pass, got me everywhere I wanted to go.
You can find out if the Vienna Pass is worth it for you by reading my post here.
Is the Vienna Pass Worth the Price:
I visited Schönbrunn Palace, the Military Museum, Belvedere Palace, and so many more places during my three-day tour of Vienna. For me, the Vienna Pass was definitely worth it because I was going to see all these Vienna highlights and more.
Whether or not it's right for you depends on what you want to see and how good you are at planning!
