The Big Creek Greenway is a linear park. A greenway is about people and the land they love. It is about conservation. It is about recreation and alternative transportation. It is about environmental education. It is about connecting the quality of life Alpharetta now has with the future plan that will help maintain that quality of life. Our greenway is an investment in the future of Alpharetta...an Alpharetta that is green, with open spaces for people as well as natural areas for plants and animals.
The Big Creek Greenway is primarily a 12-foot wide concrete path that meanders through the deciduous woods along Big Creek. The greenway offers an ideal setting for walking, jogging, inline roller blading, and biking. Dirt mountain bike trails are located on the east side of the creek 2/5 mile south of Webb Bridge Road.

Alpharetta working on its Alpha Loop
Exercise is important, and one of the easiest ways to get people moving is having a great system of trails around the city.
One city is hoping it can get more people out walking and biking, and it's looking to make its own path similar to Atlanta's BeltLine.
Alpharetta's Alpha Loop would be 8 miles of tracks connecting the city together.
On the Big Creek Greenway in Alpharetta, you can find plenty of people out and about even on a dreary day.
I think we're all trying to live a healthier life, Alpharetta resident Susan Rainone said. I was excited when they put a walking trail from my house to downtown Alpharetta.
And more of those trails are in the works.
The idea for our loop started with trying to figure out how do we connect downtown and Avalon, Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle said. What we came up with was a linear park that would connect not only downtown to Avalon, but also to Haynes Bridge and back to downtown.
That first concept has now grown into a 3.2-mile inner loop and a 5.2-mile outer loop.
It will eventually connect people not only to Alpharetta, but will also connect to trails in Roswell and Forsyth County.
While the project comes after the success of Atlanta's BeltLine, the mayor says the Alpha Loop is different.
The BeltLine and our Loop are similar in some respects, but in other respects, we already have a lot of that stuff already here, he said. It's really just connecting people to it in a different way – a more unique and I think irresistible way.
Meanwhile, construction continues downtown, where Alpharetta is looking to reinvent that space.
It's going to be amazing, what's going to happen to our downtown, Belle Isle said. It's going to be down really between summer and fall of next year and you're going to see some amazing new opportunities here.
He said that the city's going to be coming into its own as the Loop gets developed.

Big Jumps and Flow! | Big Creek Freeride
Had a blast this past weekend filming and riding at Big Creek Freeride in Roswell, Georgia just outside of Atlanta. Mountain biking here was a blast it had fun jump trails, huge berms, and some other cool features. The trails most of this video was shot on was the recently finished new hawked trail and the gully run! I definitely would recommend checking it out. All in all a great day for checking out some fun new trails! Don't forget to subscribe for more edits, follow cams, great trails, and discussions, see you in the next one!

Vickery Creek Hiking Trail + Old Mill + Ruins + Dam Roswell Georgia
A covered bridge. Civil war mill ruins. A towering waterfall that pours from a historic spillway dam. There’s just a lot to love about the Vickery Creek Trail at Roswell Mill: it’s scenic, shady, and makes a great in-town hike or moderate trail run.
This five-mile adventure explores the historic Roswell Mill and the surrounding rolling forest in Roswell, Georgia. It’s one of the best hikes in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area parks near Atlanta, though its trails don’t follow the actual banks of the Chattahoochee River. Instead, this hike explores the historic remains of Roswell Mill and visits the mill’s spillway dam waterfall on a Chattahoochee River tributary. The 5+ mile trail network hikes through beautiful, rolling forest and catches views of the rushing dam waterfall from a steep rock bluff.
