Big Rock Brewery Tour
I head on a brewery tour and meet up with Jerry from Bullshitkorner, as we sample some great beer from Big Rock, and learn a ton about their brewing process. Big Rock Brewery is the original craft beer brewery in Calgary, and we learned they have expanded to the other side of the rockies opening up a brewery in vancouver.

“Eating is so intimate. It's very sensual. When you invite someone to sit at your table and when you want to cook for them, you’re inviting a person into your life - Maya Angelou
The goal for “A seat at our table” is simple: to gather interesting Albertans together around a table to enjoy an amazing meal of locally grown Alberta food, engage in rich conversation, and share the outcome while we celebrate our love of this land – linking it back to business & agriculture.
Its all about story telling - “A Seat At Our Table” was designed to bridge the gap between urban and rural(farm/farmer), getting these two groups closer together, prompting consumers to ask more
questions rather than making assumptions; but it’s became bigger than that – it evolved into everything “Alberta”. The economy, sports, arts, culture, travel, food, agriculture, philanthropy, talent, etc.
The table is symbolic to us – the table represents the hub, the gathering spot; the food we will provide will all be locally produced and expertly prepared; the conversation will be lively and sure to be interesting.
As for the guests around the table - We are inviting people from all walks of life, varied backgrounds, who are leaders in their areas of expertise, who are not shy or afraid to share their thoughts, who are
unique AND inspirational, who are great listeners and love to learn, who are proud advocates of their province and want to see it continue to grow and thrive.
This conversation includes Brewmaster Paul Gautreau of Big Rock Brewery in Calgary, along with Eliese Watson of ABC Bees.

Big Rock Brewery Testimonial
Hear how Big Rock Brewery and Pure Image brought Big Rock Urban to life!
Wow! Overwhelmed! The Brew House Arrives. 1st day of Village Brewery - Calgary
See how Village Brewery is doing two years after this video was shot:
The GCAT crew was given a special treat when we got to speak with Jim Button, the head of marketing and communications for the brand new micro-brewery Village Brewery. Jim gave us a sneak peek at the brew house that has up until now never been unveiled to the public. We were also privileged to get a look at their cool new label that no one had seen yet, not even the investors!
Jim told us, with an infectious smile, that he loves the image and slogan of the new brewery, It takes a village to raise a brewery. and It takes a beer to raise a village! Jim knows his beer and is excited about this venture. He wants it to be both fun and tasty!
There is a combined 140 years of beer experience between the partners and brew master of the newly formed Village Brewery so this is not going to be any old brew; it's going to be very tasty! (BTW; their brew master is Larry Kerwin, who first apprenticed in the brewing program back in 1977, so you know he's an experienced fellow!) These guys have partnered on this project more out of the love of beer and brewing than the drive for the almighty dollar. This is about making people happy and producing a quality product.
They have promised that 10% of all proceeds from the sales of the new beer will go back into the Calgary community to support local artists. A good example of this is the requisition of the glassware for the Village Brewery, which they will be getting commissioned by the Bee Kingdom (see They are commissioning beautiful beer glasses, mugs and steins to give these young, talented artists the chance to showcase their work more prominently in the community. The brewery gets great glasses and the Bee Kingdom artists get great exposure.
The investors of Village Brewery love Calgary and want to contribute to keeping it a dynamic, fun and tasty city to live in. When you visit Calgary don't leave without getting a taste of this sensational new tipple.
Cheers!
