Grand Forks is a very beautiful and a small city in Boundary Country of West Kootenay region of BC, Canada. As per census 2016, population of Grand Forks was just around 4,049.
Grand Forks is located at confluence of Kettle River and Grandby River, it is a tributary of Columbia.
This city is on north of US-Canada border and is around 500km from Vancouver and 200km from Kelowna and 23km west of resort area of Christina Lake only by road.

1. Christina Lake: Christina Lake is an unincorporated recreational area in Boundary Country of West Kootenay region of BC, Canada.
Christina Lake is located on the Highway #3, which is and 44 miles southwest of Castlegar and 12 miles east of Grand Forks.
2. Gladstone Provincial Park: This Park is a provincial park in BC, Canada, which is fully surrounded and north of north end of Christina Lake in province of Boundary Country.
This park was established in July 1995. Gladstone Park includes the Texas Creek parks and former Ole Johnson.
3. Grand Forks Visitor Centre: A 1912 former Court House, that feature to turn of century architecture right in downtown core is setting for a family friendly Visitor Centre and Rotary Customs House, Gift Shop, Heritage Galleries and Gallery 2 Art.
This building is totally accessible with an ample of parking and complimentary WiFi. You can enjoy shady grounds, or can walk across street to the Farmer’s Market.
Borscht, Doukhobour culture, Heritage Walking Tour, City Park, Tot Lot, Rotary Spray Park, Kettle and Granby Rivers, Trans Canada Trail and Downtown shopping are the opportunities which are all nearby to this centre.
4. Big Rock Candy Mountain: If you love hunting future, then Rock Candy Mine offers a huge opportunity to come with real gems!
Then get your hands dirty to collect sparkle quartz, beautiful barite, purple and green fluorite. Your tour to this place will teach you about collecting crystals and rocks, and help you to explore remains of the Rock Candy Mine.
5. Grand Forks Municipal Campground: Grand Forks Municipal Campground is situated in the park, it is a wonderful setting whether you have 40 ft. RV.
There are hook-ups for the both water and electricity and there is a free sani-dump which is handily located very close to camping area. Extra washrooms and clean showers are being provided for camper and convenience.
6. Seasons Watersports and Rentals: Christina Lake’s is the only watersports school and watersports charter service which is being provided in Grand Forks.
This place offer waterski lessons/charters, wakesurf and wakeboard for all of the age group. Boat rental charters include watersports equipment, life jackets, gas, coach/driver and boat.

Rock Candy Mine, come visit the sweetest, most colorful mine around !
Rock Candy Mine has awesome green and purple colored fluorite crystals in a historic mine near Grand Forks BC. The Rock Candy Mine operated a 4 km tramway to get the minerals to the railway. See the remains of the tram, steam boiler that ran the tram, cables, pulleys, mine cars and the most beautiful purple. green and white minerals. This is possibly the most beautiful underground mine you will ever see!
Rock hounding (crystals) at Highway 97 and Westside road.
Took the kids out rock hounding today, looking for zeolites, quartz crystals, Amethyst, and found some citrine too. The new Westside road interchange off highway 97 in West Kelowna has blasted out some of Mount Boucherie's basalt revealing many fresh vugs full of all sorts of Silicates. Some quite exciting.
Wellington Camp Part 1 Visit abandoned underground mine and ghost town near Grand Forks BC
Ride up an abandoned railway to an empty ghost town called Wellington camp. Visit several abandoned Gold, Silver, Lead and Copper mines. Explore old buildings enter old mine tunnels and explore the secret world of abandoned underground mines with Frank and Max his dog.
We find the Mother Lode and the Gold Belt ! Two abandoned mines in the Sheep creek area
Best mine exploration video yet! We climb to the top of a mountain and find a standing tram tower with a blacksmiths shop old equipment, machines and a mine complete with a locomotive and mine cars.
Yankee Boy Mine, abandoned mine right in Grand Forks!
The Yankee Boy Mine, visit this large historic Gold, Silver and Copper mine last mined in 1938. Close to Grand Forks BC by Saddle Lake. It features underground tunnels, rail car siding and a tipple.
Abandoned Town Hidden in the Woods pt 2
British Columbia is home to many ghost towns and abandoned places, Bridge river area is a hot spot for abandoned building, towns, mines and cities. As i wander aimlessly through the forest i stumbe upon row after row of houses deep in the woods, some of which having not been seen for many years.

From Return To Big Rock Candy Mountain. Recorded on an Eastbound Running Amtrak Empire Builder between Minneapolis and Milwaukee. Using a banjo and a laptop in a private second floor roomette at the front of the train. Other tracks were recorded 3/09 at the Stegner House, Eastend Saskatchewan.
Exploring an underground pool in a large abandoned Copper mine.
More adventures exploring in the giant abandoned underground Canadian Rawhide Copper, Gold and Silver Mine. We visit a huge ballroom full of boulders, then follow a long tunnel to explore a flooded section. Kevin and I bring hip waders and a wet suit to try and see what is behind a large underground pool. We discover some old dynamite and mine tools.

We go down a steep grade along the # 2 tram that brought gold to the main 4800 level of the Mascot. We also hid some treasures for fans of the show to find to find. Link for quartz crystal location
Yaak River in Montana 2
The Yaak River originates near Yahk Mountain, in the Yahk Range, part of the Purcell Mountains, in southeast British Columbia. The river flows south, crossing into Montana. It receives the East Fork Yaak River, then the West Fork Yaak River (also called the West Yahk River). The West Fork originates in Montana near Rock Candy Mountain, flows northeast into British Columbia, then southeast back into Montana to join the main Yaak River.

Nearly 28 million people visited the Fair. Dubbed the “White City,” it inspired future innovators like Henry Ford and Frank Lloyd Wright, unveiled the Ferris Wheel and Cracker Jack®, and, in many ways, marked the beginning of the 20th century. Many of the era’s greatest achievements in science, technology and culture were unveiled there. The grounds were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, famous for his design of New York City’s Central Park, and constructed under the supervision of Daniel Burnham.
The Fair was an engineering marvel. On opening day, President Grover Cleveland depressed a golden telegraph key which sent the first courses of electricity throughout the Fair powering fountains, machines, electric railways and thousands of lights. It was the first use of electricity on such a massive scale.
In addition, fairgoers enjoyed the Midway Plaisance where a one-mile boulevard of fun offered camel riding and guilty pleasures such as belly dancing, street fighting and beer drinking. Against the backdrop of 1893’s troubles with workers’ rights, prejudice, discrimination and corruption, the World’s Columbian Exposition cast a brief ray of hope for the future of humanity.

Mountain Rose Mine, forgotten abandoned BC mine near Willgress lake.
Visit the abandoned Mountain Rose Mine. View from the air and go underground. The abandoned mine right beside the highway that nobody knows about. A large open stope connecting to a flooded main haul tunnel and a shaft. Waste rock from this mine was used to build the #3 highway at Willgress lake right by Eholt, now an abandoned Ghost Town but once an important railroad town.

Providence mines near Greenwood. Abandoned mines just a few minutes walk from town.
Providence mines are a group of smaller mines and one large mine to the East of Greenwood just a short walk from town. Lighting is a little poor underground but we have new lights ordered and will be shooting some new mines soon.

120 year old historic hotel and mines around Ymir in deep winter snow on a snowmobile.
This week I hop on a sled and search for mines around Ymir. We visit the historic 120 year old hotel that is still open to the public and meet some of the locals. We also visit some cabins in the back country around Ymir. This is really steep country that gets lots of snow. The mines are all closed now but when they were operating they shipped ore to the railways with tram lines!
Tramway bore in Greenwood. Abandoned 910 meter tunnel right in Greenwood !
The famous tunnel that was supposed to join Greenwood with Phoenix and make everyone rich. Started in 1907, abandoned in 1912. It was supposed to be over 5,000 meters long and unlock a treasure chest of gold silver, lead and copper. Check out this 910 meter tunnel only a five minute walk from town.
