Big Tignish / Jude's Point Lighthouse, Prince Edward Island
The Big Tignish or Jude's Point Lighthouse was constructed in 1880 and put into operation in 1881. The tower stands thirty three feet high.
The lighthouse was originally located at the entrance to the Main Channel or Tignish Run, which cuts through a sandy beach at Jude's Point. It overlooked the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the northwest shore of Prince Edward Island.
This structure was operated as a rear range light until 1989, when it was converted to a coastal light. The light was decommissioned in 1997 and began to fall into disrepair. It was donated by the Tignish Harbour authority to a local community group and in 2008 the tower was relocated from the harbour entrance to a nearby park where it forms part of a memorial to fishermen lost at sea.

Abstract not available. This series is produced to expedite the release of information by making unedited manuscript material available to the public in advance of formal publication, and to act as a repository for relevant supporting data that are referred to in published reports. Open Files can be maps; reports; voluminous data sets resulting from multiparameter geophysical and geochemical surveys; consultants' reports; preliminary, unvetted field and laboratory results. They are all critically reviewed by one specialist. The series is geared towards specialists (mining industry, land-use planning, geoscience students) rather than the general public.

St. Peters Harbour Lighthouse, Prince Edward Island
This lighthouse was constructed in 1881. The wood frame, wood shingled tower is 34 feet in height and is typical of the broad-based, steeply-sloping short towers. There is no record of a lightkeepers dwelling. The tower is located on its original site which was once a breakwater, however the continually moving sand dunes have now made the location landlocked.
The light was taken out of service in the spring of 2008, and the condition of the structure is in decline.
