Playing Catch Up In Sheridan, WY | Exploring Bighorn National Forest
The morning we left SD, we ran into some slide issues. We got Grand Design on the phone and thought we solved the problem, but more on that in later episodes.
We needed a place with reliable internet so we could catch up on work and take care of some chores/errands so we headed to Sheridan, Wyoming. Peter D's RV Park was a great place to do just that before we headed to Yellowstone National Park.
While there, we took a day to explore the Bighorn National Forest where we finally spotted a moose among lots of other wildlife.

ABOUT US
Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, nearly always filmed in stunning 4K.
We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and our dogs Zoe and Maggie are avid boondockers, so you'll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on YouTube, we're not RV dealers or full-timers -- we're weekend warriors just like you!
We'll provide tips and insight on equipping and maintaining your RV, trip planning and travel videos to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! SUMMARY
=======
The Bighorn National Forest is a U.S. National Forest located in northern Wyoming, United States and consists of over 1.1 million acres (4,500 km²). Created as a US Forest Reserve in 1897, it is one of the oldest government-protected forest lands in the U.S. The forest is well east of the continental divide and extends from the Montana border for a distance of 80 miles (130 km) along the spine of the Big Horn Mountains, an outlying mountain range separated from the rest of the Rocky Mountains by Bighorn Basin. Elevations range from 5,000 feet (1,500 m) along the sagebrush and grass-covered lowlands at the foot of the mountains, to 13,189 feet (4,020 m) on top of Cloud Peak, the highest point in the Big Horn Mountains. Around 99% of the land is above 1,500 metres (4,900 ft). The forest is named after the Bighorn River, which is partially fed by streams found in the forest. Streams in the range are fed primarily by snowmelt and snowmelt mixed with driving rainfall.Within the forest is the Cloud Peak Wilderness area in which no motorized or mechanical equipment is allowed. The only access into the 189,000 acre (765 km²) wilderness is on foot or horseback. There are 1,500 miles (2,400 km) of trails in the forest, along with 32 improved campgrounds, lodges, and three scenic vehicular byways. U.S. Route 14 in Wyoming, also known as the Bighorn Scenic Byway, crosses the middle of the 30-mile (48 km) wide forest. The Medicine Wheel Passage (U.S. Highway 14A) crosses in the north passing the Medicine Wheel National Historic Landmark, while the Cloud Peak Skyway (U.S. Route 16) crosses the highest pass in the forest (Powder River Pass 9,677 ft/ 2,950 m) and is located in the southern section of the forest.
The forest headquarters is located in Sheridan, Wyoming. There are local ranger district offices in Buffalo, Lovell, and Sheridan. Visitor centers are located at Burgess Junction and near Shell Falls.

Why I'm Not Camping In The Bighorn Mountains Now - Wyoming Weather
You may have heard me mention the Bighorn Mountains before and wonder why I don’t get out of the city and head to the mountains. This video reveals why I am not camping in the Bighorn Mountains now. Wyoming weather is marked by hot summers and cold, snowy winters - and it takes a while for summer to arrive in the mountains.
I recorded the footage in this video along Highway 16 between Ten Sleep and Buffalo during a drive over the Bighorn Mountains last week. I hope that you enjoy this video.

Stranded off the grid in Sheridan Wyoming
A flight along the Big Horn Mountains, Sheridan WY
Recorded on June 13, 2009 using a Flip Video camcorder.
Captain Bruce Garber flew his Super Cub so I could record this video that starts near Moncrieffe Ridge on the Big Horn Mountains. We flew over the beautiful Big Horn Equestrian Center, home of the Big Horn Polo Club and also the venue for MARS Big Horn Soccer Cup. Today it was the DUCKS UNLIMITED Greenwings program below us. To the West are the perfect polo fields of the Flying H Polo Club and then you can see the old original venue for Big Horn Polo that they used in the early 1900s where they held the Big Horn Races at Gallatin Flats. We then flew over Little Goose Creek and gazed up into Little Goose Canyon. Farther to the West, you can see the Red Grade Road, which takes you deep into our backyard playground- The Bighorn National Forest and the Big Horn Mountain High Country. What an awesome place to live, at the foot of the Big Horns in Big Horn, WY.
