Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Rs. 500 crore Bihar Museum in Patna. Spread in 13.5 acres at Bailly road in the heart of Patna, only three sections of the museum - children's section, main entrance area and orientation theatre - will be thrown open to the public for now. While inaugurating the Museum, Nitish Kumar talked of the glorious past of Bihar from the time of Aryabhatta and Gautam Buddha to Satyagrah Andolan of Mahatma Gandhi, of which every Bihari is proud of. The CM also rebuked the people who allege that not much has been done in the fields of education, health and power.
POPULAR PLACE KUMHARAR PATNA - BIHAR (INDIA)
Kumhrar or Kumrahar is the remains of an ancient city of Pataliputra, located 5 km of east from Patna Railway Station, on Road, Patna, Bihar.
Kumhrar is the site that consists of the archaeological excavations of Patliputra and marks the ancient capital of Ajatshatru, Chandragupta and Ashoka. Excavations at Kumhrar have resulted numerous structures and artifacts of the past.
Located some six kilometers south to Patna railway station, Kumhrar can be reached by auto rickshaws which are easily available. Remnants of historical city are spread all over and remind us of great and glorious history of Kumhrar.
Located on the Kankarbagh road, Kumhrar has been excavated many times. After the excavation of the site, relics have been found, which are according to some historians are from 600 BC to 600 AD. The most striking and relevant finding at the spot is the 80-pillared huge hall, which is said to have been the parliament of Chandragupta Maurya. According to archaeologists and historians, it dates back to 300 BC.
The parliament or assembly hall was an excellent specimen of architectural expertise. From ruins one can imagine how wonderful it would have been in its original form! Near the assembly hall is a brick made Buddhist monastery, popularly called Anand Bihar.

In January 2012, the state cabinet approved the selection of Japan-based Maki & Associates and its Indian partner OPOLIS, Mumbai as the primary consultant architect for the project.[11][16]
In October 2017, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi visited Bihar Museum with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.[17] 2300 year old Didarganj Yakshi is also in Bihar Museum.[18] The artefacts from ancient India era to 1764 are kept in Bihar Museum and those of post-1764 period are kept at Patna Museum.[19]
