Pujya Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati (born 14 February 1960) is the successor of Satyananda Saraswati, founder of Satyananda Yoga,[1] who passed on the worldwide coordination of Satyananda Yoga to Niranjanananda in 1988.
Born in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, India, Niranjanananda is considered by his followers to be a yogi from birth. He was named 'Niranjan' (the Untainted One) by his guru Satyananda. He began his training at Bihar School of Yoga in India at the age of four. He would sleep in Satyananda's room and Satyananda experimented with the use of yoga-nidra and suggestion practices on him. At the age of ten, he was initiated as a sannyasi. In 1971, he extensively toured Europe, America and Australia. This experience gave him an understanding of the Western mind and society. In 1983 he returned to India and was appointed the Head of Bihar School of Yoga. For the next eleven years, he spearheaded the research and development activities at Ganga Darshan, Shivananda Math and the Yoga Research Foundation.
In 1990, he was initiated in the tradition of Paramahamsa and in 1993 he was chosen as the successor of Satyananda. In 1993, he organised a World Yoga Convention on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the sannyasa of his guru. In 1994, he established Bihar Yoga Bharati as the centre for higher studies in the field of yoga. He found Yoga Publication Trust[2] in 2000.
At present he is the Paramacharya of Bihar Yoga Bharati (Institute for Advanced Studies in the Yogic Sciences) in Munger, Bihar. Niranjanananda appointed Surya Prakash as his successor, though the latter currently holds the administrative duties of the ashram, while Niranjanananda remains the spiritual guide. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Spanish, French and many more.

Yoga Day is being celebrated throughout the country on Wednesday with the aim of reaching the people. Yoga is part of the ancient culture of India. Rishmunis researched yoga and meditation and delivered it to the next generation. Yoga has made its place in the whole world today. In the pursuit of yoga, Bihar School of Yoga located in Munger, Bihar is an important role. This is the world's only yoga teacher, here Bollywood stars also come to learn yoga.
In this yoga center, Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Indira Gandhi and Abdul Kalam Azad have also come.
All year round, foreign nationals come to learn yoga. It is the world's first university, where yoga is taught only.
Munger-based Bihar School of Yoga was founded by Swami Satyanand in 1964 on the banks of River Ganga in Munger.
Here yoga's education is given by Gurukul law and students can do courses from one month's training certificates to doctorate.
With the education from this yoga center, about 30 thousand people are spreading yoga knowledge in country and abroad.
Due to the efforts of this center, studies of Yoga of the founder of Munger Yoga Institute of Satyanand are also taught in the education system of France.
Those who come to the yoga center have to adhere to the strict rules here. Every morning we have to wake up at 4 o'clock. After this classes begin.
At 6:30 p.m. after kirtan, one has to do meditation in his room at 7:30. The residential premises closes at 8 o'clock.
The objective of the whole system of yoga in this center is to establish a balance between physical, mental and spiritual aspects.
The Bihar School of Yoga has more than 200 international and hundreds of national yoga and spiritual centers. It has been given the honorary university (Deemed University).
There is a 4 month yoga certification course. With this, there is another two year course for higher education in yoga philosophy, yoga psychology, applied yoga and environment yoga science.
