The Bijloke in Ghent is still a destination for everyone who loves art and culture. It is a vast complex where you can meet Gothic, Baroque and nineteenth-century buildings. This is a good opportunity for the one who admires Gothic revival and Neoclassicism. You will recognise more than seven centuries historical buildings. The oldest building is the Abbey founded by the Cistercians in the 13th century. If you like the history of Ghent, you will visit also the Ghent City Museum or STAM that is also located here. You can studying at Royal Academy of Fine Arts KASK & Royal Conservatory (School of Arts Ghent) in the vicinity. Nature and culture in perfect harmony.

Ghent Floralies 2016
On 22 April, the 4th Iemoto (Headmistress) of the Sogetsu school, Ms. Akane Teshigahara, gave a spectacular live demonstration at the Music Center of the Bijloke site during Ghent Floralies 2016, displaying the Sogetsu-style of Ikebana. This included performances such as splitting bamboo live on stage and making an installation using the whole stage. As part of the 150 Years of Friendship between Japan and Belgium, Japan was the guest country for this edition of the Ghent Floralies.
VLOG: Floraliën Gent 2016
Hi guys!
Last week I visited Floraliën in Ghent, which is basically a 10-day flower & plant festival in the city center of Ghent. Walkie Talkie invited me together with some other bloggers to discover this festival. On 4 different locations you could find the prettiest of flowers and plants. I had a blast, if you enjoy pretty plants, flowers and architecture then you definitely will enjoy yourself as well. Thank you Walkie Talkie for the invite & sweet bloggers Ines, Eline & Sarah for the company and blawghtalks!

The final approach to (up and down some particularly wee and fiddly steps) and view from the Belfort in Ghent. Not as high as the Bruges version but a much clearer and less mesh-blocked view...
