Biking St Jean de Luz to Biarritz - Basque Country
Backroads Travel - Day 5. We take off from the quaint seaside town of St Jean de Luz and bike through the Basque countryside. After getting lost a few times, we eventually make our way to Biarritz. Along the way we stop at an old floor mill called Le Moulin de Bassilour. We also play pelota and have lunch in the town of Ahetze. We end up at the historic Hotel du Palais in Biarritz.

BACK TO BASQUE COUNTRY | Mountain Biking with BasqueMTB on the Basque Coast
Want to take this trip?
I got started nice and early in California and hopped three flights to eventually end up at an awesome hotel called Bista Eder in Hondarribia, Spain. From there Borja and Carlos from BasqueMTB took me out for a couple of days riding around the Basque Coast.
So glad to be back in España!

Bayonne and Beyond - Basque Country France - Hot Chocolate and Incredible Food
The best hot chocolate of my life is in Bayonne, France, at the edge of Basque country (right next to Biarritz). We ate like kings at la table de POTTOKA. Help me make better videos at and then find me on the internet in all of the usual spots:

The hot chocolate in Bayonne stems from the region's involvement in introducing chocolate to France - and it was AMAZING.

My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa and hoping to make the city of light my home base - at least for the foreseeable future. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlog daily, and love pizza a little too much.
FAQ:
How long have you lived in France? On and off for over two years.
What do you miss most about ho- NACHOS
You're always talking about living on some ship. WHAT SHIP? - I made a Draw My Life video that explains a lot here:
Where are you from originally? - Pullman, Washington - a small university/agricultural town near Idaho (and yes, the potatoes are amazing).
What do you film with? - I currently film almost exclusively with my Samsung Galaxy S8:
How do you get those shots where you're walking or running? - A Joby Gorillapod for smartphones, like this:
You drop your phone a lot, how does it survive? - THIS CASE IS AMAZING: (Galaxy S7) - (Galaxy S8) - (iPhone)
What do you edit with? - Adobe Premiere - it's pretty much all I've ever used since high school.
Aren't you ever freaked out by leaving your camera behind to film yourself? - Yep. But not too badly - I tend to be careful when I do.
Why are you living in #Paris? - Because I've always wanted to; I feel at home here:
But what are you doing there? - Living it up!
Do you speak French? Oui.
You talk a lot about the books you're working on, what are they about? - They're sci-fi (and fantasy) and I've got a decent pitch for you here:
Do you make money off YouTube? - Ha, no. I wish. It took me over 500 videos to make my first $100 off adsense. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? - The easiest and best way to support me is through Patreon, where you can pitch in as little as $1/mo to help me make better videos:
I don't trust this Patreon thing - what's your PayPal? - Here's a handy link!
I like PayPal in pink! - Here's my ko-fi if that's your thing (and coffee is your game):
But I want to send you something tangible! - I do have a wishlist on Amazon, though it's a bit complicated with the international shipping situation. This is the US one:
And here's the French one:
Can I come stay with you in Paris? - Have you seen my apartment? It's too small for me as it is!
OK, but how do I use the Metro when I'm there? - I made a handy video for you:
French startup launches hydrogen powered bicyles
French startup launches hydrogen-powered bicyles.
PARIS (Reuters) - A French start-up has become the first company to start factory production of hydrogen-powered bicycles for use in corporate or municipal fleets.
Pragma Industries, which is based in Biarritz, France and makes fuel cells for military use, has sold some 60 hydrogen-powered bikes to French municipalities including Saint Lo, Cherbourg, Chambery and Bayonne.
At about 7,500 euros per bike, and at least 30,000 euros for a charging station, the bikes are too expensive for the consumer market, but Pragma is working to cut that to 5,000 euros, which would bring their price in line with premium electric bikes.
“Many others have made hydrogen bike prototypes, but we are the first to move to series production,” said founder and chief executive Pierre Forte.

WHEELS AND & WAVES 2016 Motorcycles, surf, punks peak races, skate, flattrack, southsiders

We spent some good time in Biarritz and Anglet, in the south of France, flying drones and watching the waves come in (while dodging rain storms). I really look forward to the return trip to Biarritz. Also, don't get the southwest of France confused with the southeast of France (as far as comparisons go) - you might ignite small battles by doing so.
