Tour of Copenhagen - Big Danish Lunch + Canal Boat Tour in Denmark!

Thank you to Visit Copenhagen:
Bicycle Ride - In order to really blend in with Danish culture in Copenhagen, you need to go around the city by bicycle. So on day one of our visit to Copenhagen, we jumped into a bicycle cart, and rode over the park. #Copenhagen #Denmark
Frederiksberg Have - Copenhagen has lots of beautiful parks, and we strategically went to one called Frederiksberg Have because it wasn’t far from where we were staying, and there was a restaurant I really wanted to try in the area.
Hansens Gamle Familiehave ( - I love legendary classic restaurants, and Hansens Gamle Familiehave is about as historical and classic as Danish restaurants in Copenhagen get. I went straight for the Hansens lunch platter, which included two platters - first the cold appetizers like herring, and next the hot dishes like pork. Total bill for this huge Danish lunch platter - 718 DKK ($106.43)
Hey Captain ( - One of the attractions I was most interested in doing during my time in Copenhagen, was to take a boat Copenhagen Canal Tour. Thanks to Visit Copenhagen and Hey Captain, for taking me on this fantastic and luxurious canal boat tour of Copenhagen. The drinks made it even better. Amazing boat tour, highly recommended in Copenhagen.
Folkehuset Absalon ( - Finally for dinner we went o Folkehuset Absalon, a former church that has been opened as a community center coffee shop, and a family style restaurant at dinner. The place is packed every night, people come looking for a social dining atmosphere, sharing tables, and delicious home cooked styles Danish food. Food was delicious. Price - 100 DKK ($14.82)
And that wraps up this tour of Copenhagen, including Danish food and attractions!

CRAZY COPENHAGEN SELF-GUIDED BIKE TOUR - Copenhagen, Denmark - Leonard Does Europe S2 E2
According to all of the travel advice I found online, the best way to see Copenhagen is on a bike, which sounded like a lot of fun. But instead of waking up in time for a 10AM guided bike tour and spending a decent chunk of change, I had the bright idea to rent our own bikes and use Google Maps to navigate to all of the sites we wanted to visit!
It was only about $12 per person to rent a bike from Forum Cykler Værksted ( for an entire day. To put that in perspective, it would have cost $50 per person for a tour, so we saved nearly $120 by doing it ourselves, and we got to go at our own pace and linger at each site as long as we wanted.
And while we did have an awesome time visiting The Round Tower, Nyhavn, The Little Mermaid, and all of the sites in-between, there were a few things that I didn’t consider when planning this tour:
1. It’s nearly impossible to navigate with a phone on a bike unless you have a handlebar mount for it. I thought setting it in the basket would be sufficient, but every time we hit a bump or went over some cobblestones (which are pretty much everywhere in Copenhagen), the phone would shift out of sight. So I was constantly looking down into the basket and moving the phone around, which was pretty dangerous, especially considering the challenges of riding a “vintage” bike.
2. Google Maps still isn’t 100% ready for prime time when it comes to bike navigation. It’s like it combines walking and driving directions, but not in a very intelligent manner. I also HATE it when it tells me “Go south towards blah blah blah.” I don’t know which way south is, and I don’t know where “blah blah blah” is. So then I’d stand there, turning around in circles like an idiot until I thought I was pointing in the direction it wanted me to go, only to hop on the bike and realize, nope, I’m totally going in the wrong direction.
3. Turns out there’s a reason the guided tour starts at 10AM, doesn’t linger at every site, and finishes by 2PM: as a tourist, you do NOT want to be biking in Copenhagen anytime near rush hour! It was like the Tour de France, except with a bunch of tired, angry Danes. They were constantly yelling and cursing at us for not going fast enough or not using hand signals properly, and were millimeters away from ramming us whenever we tried to merge into a turn lane. White-knuckling it all the way back to the bike shop was not the best way to end the tour.
Anyway, in the end we made it back safely and had some fun stories to tell about our adventures. But for the typical tourist, I would absolutely NOT recommend doing your own bike tour. Leave it to the professionals, such as Bike Mike Tours (

$225 Massive ROYAL SEAFOOD PLATTER in Copenhagen, Denmark!

Thank you to Visit Copenhagen
Copenhagen, Denmark - If you look at a map, you’ll see that Denmark has an immense amount of sea coastline - from the different islands and peninsulas that make up the country. Seafood has and always will be a major part of Danish food and culture. And so today we’re focusing on seafood in Denmark, starting from the source of the fishermen to some amazing people serving incredible seafood.
Fishing port - To get started in the morning we first drove about 30 minutes outside of Copenhagen to a small fishing port to meet up with a fishermen and see his fresh catch of the day. Most of his catch was cod, and a few trout.
Kødbyens Fiskebar - To get the seafood tour started we then drove over to the Meatpacking district of Copenhagen and to a restaurant called Kødbyens Fiskebar, a seafood restaurant serving a modern take on Danish seafood. Their dishes are even tastier than they look, and they are some of the most beautiful seafood dishes I’ve ever seen, so delicate and artful. The food was undoubtedly fresh, and we had an amazing meal.
Cykelkokken - Chef Morten Kryger Wulff ( also known as the bicycle chef, is an amazing man who has created a custom bicycle kitchen. After seeing some of the urban hanging seafood gardens, we then got started cooking. Chef Morten made oysters and champagne, followed by a stir fry of vegetables and mussels in a spinach leaf wrap. Gourmet food, amazing people, and an incredibly fun experience. Thank you to Chef Morten and the entire team from Cykelkokken. Highly recommended when you’re in Copenhagen!
Krogs Fiskerestaurant - Seafood Restaurant - Finally to finish off this seafood tour of Copenhagen, Denmark, Esben and I went to Krogs Fiskerestaurant, one of the original seafood restaurants in Copenhagen, a legendary restaurant. We knew exactly what we wanted to order, the moment we sat down - the Royal Danish Seafood platter. It was everything I had expected and more. A wonderful classic restaurant, and truly a Royal Danish seafood experience! Total price - 1,510 DKK ($225.58)
Thanks to Esben ( for taking me around!
Again, thank you to Visit Copenhagen ( for supporting my trip to Copenhagen.

Denmark is BEAUTIFUL
Visiting Copenhagen, Denmark in between Stockholm and Berlin. Did not expect it to be this beautiful. Hungover as duck on the first day but it was still quite lit
Copenhagen - A trip with youngsters
Leaving mum to work, and sister to study, we travelled to Copenhagen for a long weekend. We loved Denmark and found plenty of fun and interesting things to keep two older children (11 & 13yrs) amused and occupied.
We're looking forward to visiting again as there is still so much to see. Hopefully, it will give others seeking to do something similar a few ideas...
