Solowheeling in Ghent, Belgium

Riding in the center of Ghent is a pain as the pavement is rough.
Outside the center there are nice bicycle lanes and paths, but they tend to end suddenly.

Recorded with a keychain camera and a GoPro, both hand held. That's why the video is more less stable than normally, but I have not used any stabilizer.

This has included creating a car-free city centre and extensive development of the cycling network. Promotional activity including a subsidised student bike hire facility and a range of innovative marketing and information initiatives have helped reinforce cycling's dominance in the city: nearly a fifth of all journeys to work and school in the city are now made on two wheels.

In the summer of 2017, our family returned to Europe to do another awesome bike tour. We started in Amsterdam and bicycled 800 km in a circle to Brussels and back to Amsterdam. This part of the bike tour takes us from Bruges to Ghent.

BELGIUM, EXPLORING the famous GRAFFITI STREET ????, the historic city of GHENT (GENT)

Subscribe here: - Let's visit the famous graffiti alleyway in the historic city of Ghent, in Belgium.
It’s not something you expect to find in Ghent, especially when the rest of the city is so traditional, there’s castles, cathedrals, churches and all the usual stuff in between. What’s certainly not usual is the alleyway linking Hoogpoort and Onderstraat also known as Werregarenstraat.
Belgium, a country in Western Europe, is known for medieval towns, Renaissance architecture and as headquarters of the European Union and NATO. The country has distinctive regions including Dutch-speaking Flanders to the north, French-speaking Wallonia to the south and a German-speaking community to the east. The bilingual capital, Brussels, has ornate guildhalls at Grand-Place and elegant art-nouveau buildings.

Although graffiti is supposedly banned in Ghent there seem to be a few places where the authorities turn a blind eye and this is obviously one of them. Despite it’s central location the graffiti has been allowed to stay, presumably because it’s proving to be such a popular attraction with tourists.

The Ghent tramway network is a network of tramways forming part of the public transport system in Ghent, a city in the Flemish Region of Belgium, with a total of four lines. Since 1991, the network has been operated by De Lijn, the public transport entity responsible for buses and trams in Flanders.

I really love Ghent! It is known to be Belgium's Gem. Truly, it's very charming and lively. Although, we could not visit all of the famous monuments due to the on going festival during our visit there, the loud street music and scattered booths cannot hide the beauty of this city. I will go back in this city in the future and enjoy the real Ghent experience without the festival.
