We had 3 days in Milan so we hit the ground running and tried to see and do as much as possible. We made time for major attractions like Il Duomo, Sforza Castle, and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, but we also veered away from the crowds in search of street art and interesting neighborhoods. This being Italy, we also tried to prioritize meals, sampling everything from pizza to risotto, and cappuccinos to aperitivos. The following travel guide will highlight 20 things to do when you visit Milan, Italy
1) Milan Catherdral (Il Duomo - Duomo di Milano - Domm de Milan)
2) Il Duomo Terrace
3) Italian Breakfast - Cappuccino and sweet Italian pastries
4) Sforza Castle - Castello Sforzesco
5) The Galleria - Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
6) Risotto alla Milanese - Milan style risotto
7) Street Art around Porta Ticinese
8) Colonne di San Lorenzo - Columns of San Lorenzo Roman Ruins
9) Boat tour down the canal (linea traghetti gaggiano milano)
10) Dine along the canal in Milan's Navigli District
11) Aperitivo drinks and buffet - Apéritifs and digestifs
12) Shopping in Milan down Via Torino
13) Visiting Chinatown for some Chinese food
14) Ride a bicycle in Milan like a local
15) Pizza al taglio (pizza al trancio) Italian pizza by the slice
16) Basilica of Sant'Eustorgio containing relics of the 3 Magi
17) Duomo Museum covering the cathedrals history in-depth
18) New City Views with a hop-on-hop-off bus pass
19) Museum of Natural History - Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Milano
20) Night views of Milan nearby Il Duomo
Our trip to Milan, Lombardy was part of the Blogville project where we stayed in a local apartment and experienced all of the best cultural activities, museums, restaurants, arts and entertainment the city has to offer. This city guide is our best attempt to create a mix of best attractions and off-the-beaten-path activities that you won't necessarily find in a typical Milan tourism brochure.
20 Things to do in Milan Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Our first stop was Il Duomo, which is the most recognized attraction in the city. The cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete.
So we've sat down at a little cafe and we're going to have our first Italian breakfast with cappuccino and sweet pastries.
Something that surprised us about Milan is that there is a castle right in the middle of the city. Sforza Castle was built in the 15th century by the Duke of Milan, and it then underwent several restorations and expansions in the following centuries. Today it houses several of the city's most prized art possessions, including frescoes by Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo's very last sculpture.
For some upscale designer shopping, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is the place to be.
So we just found a local little restaurant and we're going to be trying a traditional dish that is very popular in this city and in the Lombardy region. We are going to have Risotto alla Milanese.
The Colonne di San Lorenzo are the remains of Roman ruins that date back to the 2nd century. They are believed to have been part of a bath house.
Another fun activity to try in Milan is a boat tour of the canals. The city's canals are attributed to Leonardo Da Vinci, who in 1482 was called over by the Duke of Milan to help renovate the city’s canal system.
Milan's Navigli District is one of the liveliest parts of town especially when the sun goes down for dining al fresco.
So we've gone out for our first Italian Aperitivo. Which is kind of like a pre-dinner drinking tradition. Basically, you get yourself a cocktail for about 10 Euros and that gives you access to this massive buffet.
And that's all for our visit to Milan. We hope this video will give you some cool ideas of sights and attractions to check out.
This is part of our Travel in Italy series showcasing Italian culture, Italian arts, Italian foods & Italian cuisine.

Sforza Castle was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan, on the remains of a 14th-century fortification.
Walking distance, you'll find this beautiful, newly designed and built district, with a dedicated metro stop called 3 torri.
The district is called CityLife: it's a residential, commercial and business district close the old city centre of Milan. It has an area of 36.6 hectares.
The development is financed by Generali Group, designed by famous architects Zaha Hadid, Arata Isozaki and Daniel Libeskind.
The Straight One also know as Allianz Tower, The Twisted One also known as Generali Tower and The Curved One which is being built as we speak.
Walking distance again is the the Parco Industriale Alfa Romeo Portello. A 370.000 square meter park in the heart of Milan. Important features are the 2 main little hills.
Go to the Bosco Verticale. 2 Towers built in 2014 by Boeri Studio with a height of 111 metres and 76 metres and contain more than 900 trees on 8,900 square metres of terraces.
Literally next to the bosco verticale are the Italian Google Head Quarters if you're interested. I'd recommend a mini stop here since it's a very beautiful area.
5 minute walking distance is the Uni Credit Tower, another masterpiece of modern architecture located in the most advanced and businessy district of Milan.
Go for Aperitivo at theNavigli near Porta Ticinese! It's a sort of Venice in Milan with water canals and beautiful little houses.
Not only it's a very romantic place but also serves late cocktails in the open, ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET BOTH for only 10 euros ALL INCLUDED!
If you're more into comfy dining, in a quieter place and super delicious a la carte dining, we recommend Piccola Ischia! It's a typical Restaurant from the center south of Italy!
Prices here are super good! The traditional hand made pizza from Naples for 8 Euros! Appetizers for 3 euros! And it's all so good!

1) Instead of paying the Cathedrals entrance and going up the many steps to the viewing spot, go to the Rinascente rooftop and buy yourself a glass of wine.
You'll first have to go through the Rinascente mall, pass the several shops and boutiques, go to the very last floor where you'll find a cafeteria. Opposite to it there is a terrace! You're welcome!
We paid 4.5 Euros for a cecchi red wine (which is my favorite wine by the way) and they brought us chips, olives, peanuts and mini sandwiches!
2) The Cathedral Duomo di Milano was originally created in the 14th century but took over 600 years to build. You can visit the rooftop of the Cathedral for 10 Euros and enjoy the spectacular views and architecture from above. It's the fourth largest church in the world.
3) The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele the second, is Italy's oldest active shopping mall and a major landmark of Milan. The Galleria is named after Vittorio Emanuele the second, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy. Completed in 1867.
4) Trattoria S. Filippo Neri: With ONLY 40 Euros 3 people eat first and second course, a side dish, a desert and wine. That's 13 euros per person! That's a crazy price for Milan! You can join the folk outside playing cards! Super cool environment you can't get anywhere else!
5) La Scala is an opera house in Milan. Built in 1778 it's regarded as one of the leading opera and ballet theatres in the world.
Greatest artists and finest singers from around the world come here.
6) Public Transport: we recommend buying an option that nobody talks about and its called Settimanale 2x6:
it costs 10€ and it allows you to travel twice per day for a total lenght of 90 minutes each ride.
7) Rent a bike: All you do is register online, select the daily package (4.5 euros) or weekly package (9 euros) and after you've paid, you get a username, password and unlock your bike. DONE!

From Milan to Lake Como!
Hey guys,
Welcome back to my channel!
I went to Milan with my Mum to visit my cousin Tuesday (who is an incredible fashion designer over there). Whilst we were there we decided to bike to Lake Como which was in total 150KM there and back! My bum was in agony but it was so worth it because it was so beautiful, but I think I'm all biked out for a little while! We also explored the city of Milan which was also lovely. This Vlog will make you very hungry for pasta and pizza! Pre-warning.
Link below for where we rented the bikes (cutest little cocktail shack)-
We rode down Canal Martesana until we reached River Asda and from there followed the river to Lecco (Lake Como)
Pizza Taverna we visited-
The best croissant for brekkie-
Beautiful hotel we stayed in at Lecco (Lake Como)-
The best restaurant we visited for food and service and yummy limoncello in central Milan-
Hope you enjoy, like share comment and subscribe and I will see you in my next one!

Cycling In Milan - How to Rent a Bike @BikeMi
Was visiting Milan and a rented a ‘BikeMi’ which is the equivalent of any city rental bikes system. I cycled around the city and here's a quick video showing how to rent a bike and my take on some of the infrastructure. The purpose of the video is to help and encourage anyone travelling there to cycle around the city.
You will need some encouragement if like me you get ‘some’ local people discouraging you from cycling because like in many other cities in the world is regarded as ‘too dangerous’.

The new Milan: Cadorna and Skyscrapers | Italia Slow Tour
Milan is Italy's operational capital, created by a number of brilliant minds, headed up by the mastermind par excellence: Leonardo Da Vinci. Our slow tour of Milan starts by bike from Cadorna station, where Malpensa Express departs. Discover something more about the famous and discussed art work needle and thread, representing Milan's industriousness. Then reach the brand new Gae Aulenti square, in the Garibaldi District, surrounded by skyscrapers. That is Milan's new technological and forward-looking image!

16 Things You Should Know About FlixBus in Europe
We're talking Flixbus in Europe! Flixbus = cheap bus in Europe. If you're looking to travel within Europe on a budget, we hope you'll watch our Flixbus tips.
This summer, we hopped on FlixBus 8 times during our European trip. Before we left, we had some questions. Could we upload videos on their free WiFi? Would we be able to bring our laptop backpacks on the bus or would it need to be stowed below? We wondered about lots of things but we couldn't find much information about the reality...just the official company website stuff.
Today, we cover 16 things we wish we knew about FlixBus in less than 10 minutes.
Have you taken FlixBus or another inexpensive option? We'd love to hear about it in the comments. Do you have questions we can answer? Ask away!
Know anyone who's heading to Europe and isn't a Rockefeller? Please share. Many thanks!

Last Minute Trip | Exploring Turin
I spent a weekend in Milan recently and decided to take a day trip to Turin. It was one of the best decisions I made that weekend, although most of the decisions made that weekend were great (except for the pizza) Torino is the former capital of the Kingdom of Italy but it tends to be forgotten about because tourists are distracted with Rome, Venice, Milan, etc. Which is good because I don't mind the quiet... or this day's not so quiet streets. Riots over something that had the Carabinieri out in full force. There were many bike trails, lots of trees, and even vegan ice cream... a few of my favorite things. I hope to be back to see more of Italy soon because I really enjoy the warmth of the people and the weather. A huge thanks to everyone I met this weekend.
