The best way to experience the awesome city Barcelona is to rent a bike. The infrastructure for bicycles is great. Since there are many sightseeing spots all over the city walking is not an option. Taking the good public transportation system is a good alternative as well but waiting in the underground is some what annoying when the weather outside is great and needs to be enjoyed. Biking is also environment-friendly and you even do something for you fitness.
I rented the bike a little late so I had only half day but it was still a great tour. See and enjoy my filmclips.

The Bicing is a public service of rental bicycles in the city of Barcelona that was introduced in March 2007, sponsored by the City and managed by the company Clear Channel. Users pay an annual fee and receive a card. With this card you can use one of the 6000 bike at any of the 464 stations throughout the city and have 30 minutes to make your itinerary and leave the bike at another station at no extra charge. After the first 30 minutes, 51 cents is charged euro + VAT for each additional half hour up to 2 hours, after which penalizes the user to 3.05 euros / hour + VAT. If it exceeds 24 hours from the time of withdrawal of the rental bicycle will be charged to the credit card associated with the account Bicing a fine of 150 euros.
The Bicing service is 24 hours from Monday to Sunday, except that from Sunday to Thursday between 02:00 and 05:00 is only possible to return rental bicycles. It is noteworthy that each rental bicycle parking, the user must wait 10 minutes to reuse the service (this measure was imposed on the City of Barcelona by rental bicycle rental companies, to avoid the recreational use of bikes by residents and / or visitors, and once the service was three months in operation). The rental bicycles are numbered and have a distinctive design to prevent theft. They are white and red, have three gears and front and rear lights that turn on automatically, thanks to a photoelectric sensor, night. Until the end of July 2007, 96 stations were opened in the districts of Ciutat Vella, Eixample and some parts of the districts of San Martin and Gracia, with 1,500 rental bicycles. In May 2008, more than 3,000 rental bicycles was reached and 321 stations and in June 2008, the service had 384 stations and 6,000 rental bicycles. These stations are usually located near subway stops or bus, since one of the objectives of the service is to reduce the time between transfers and short trips.
The system has been widely accepted in the city where in less than three months since its inception more than 50,000 people already had a card. In early July 2007 and had approximately 84,000 users. 3 However, the exorbitant increase of users has slowed since, as of July 2007, the annual price increased from 6 € to 24 €. In February 2008, 100,000 subscribers already exceeded the end of March, opening the Bicing to new quarters of the city, grew the number of users according to the council to 125,000, which already have 400 stations (August 2008).
In June 2008, 151 479 users were available for 384 stations, with more than 6,000 bikes operational. Two years after the entry into service of Bicing, they have exceeded initial expectations: In project 65,000 users, the service is paid to more than 190,000 people, who have more than 400 stations and 6,000 rental bicycles.
Most users are from the province of Barcelona, of which 51% are men and 49% women. The district with the highest percentage of registered users is the Eixample (26.48%). 30.6% are users with higher level of education, 22.3% average, 21.2% are administrative and 16.5% are students. The bikes an average of 15 minutes each way and used only 6.6% use more than 30 minutes.
It has been known that the amount of fines for excessive use of rental bicycles outside the established time have been debited from the bank account associated with the user without prior notice and, many times, system errors that do not register properly returning the bike, this problem has to solve by contacting the service Bicing. Sometimes the return of the rental bicycle is incorrect and leads to a charge card for exceeding the 30 free minutes, some attribute this problem to service.
The success of the Bicing has convinced politicians in other parts of Spain and America to propose a similar service, for example Madrid, Hospitalet de Llobregat, and Buenos Aires.
