We went to Bilpin Orchard @ Blue Mountains to do Apple picking. It was lot of fun and came back with loads of Apples. We also visited Blue Mountains Botanical Gardens in the afternoon

Bilpin is a beautiful place towards the beginning of the high mountain ranges that include Blue Mountain.

Today we are visiting Wollemi National Park; 1 hour west of Sydney, just past Richmond.
We are escaping the hustle of the city, to visit the regions pristine world heritage listed rainforest & to explore the convict built lumber trails.
Quad biking is a great way to get around; you could even pack a hamper & a bottle of bubbles to make it a romantic escape.
These convict logging trails, built in around 1830, were designed to transport lumber out of the region for distribution by bullock teams to Sydney; the rain forest has been untouched since the early 1900s & is in remarkable condition.
Renowned for its pristine rainforest, the area is home to the famous prehistoric Wollemi pine, which was only recently discovered in 1994 & is credited as being one of planet earth's oldest & rarest species.
The narrow convict lumber tracks are accessible by foot or quad & feature stunning vistas, plants & wildlife; the areas rich history even includes several aboriginal caves paintings.
The trail ends at the river in the valleys base, a great place to freshen up in the mountain filtered waters.
A variety of short & long stay packages are available in one off designed, craftsman built cottages; the region has great restaurants which are renowned for their top quality, local produce. All this only a short drive from Sydney's bustling CBD.

Rural properties near Bilpin on the Bells Line of Road northwest of Sydney have been isolated by today's fires. They've been cut off by the Gospers Mountain mega fire that stretches from the central coast to west of Lithgow.

Fruit picking is a great activity for the kids. They have a great time. You generally just pay for the fruit you pick. Farm fresh fruit and a fun day out! Winning!!
