Bintan Resort Ferries Emerald Class
Follow Us as we share with you our ferry ride from the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore to Bintan Island, Indonesia with Bintan Resort Ferries.
We booked ourselves in the Emerald Class on this trip and was treated to spacious cabin and comfortable seats in the upper deck of the ferry. Also, our booking comes with a complimentary on-board drink cart service of non-alcoholic drinks. Though a short journey of only about 45 minutes, we decided to pre-book meals and drinks in case we got hungry halfway through the journey.
For visitors to Singapore considering a short getaway without the hassle of flight bookings, this might be a source of inspiration for you! Please feel free to let us know your questions in the comments section below. :D
Singapore to Bintan on a Bintan Resorts Ferry Emerald Class [4K]
Join me for a trip from Singapore to the Indonesian island of Bintan, travelling by Bintan Resorts Ferry in Emerald Class.
The experience was very enjoyable and the drink, wifi and entertainment are all nice touches. It's not much extra to go Emerald Class but I;m not sure I would pay it for such a short trip.
Bintan itself is a great island and I would recommend staying outside the 'Resort Area'. For any Geographers it is a fascinating place.
All shot in 4K on the iPhone 6s.
Any thoughts? do let me know in the comments. Oh and do subscribe to have future adventures appear in your feed :)
Bintan Resort Ferries - Full Tour (2018)
Bintan Island or Negeri Segantang Lada is an island in the Riau archipelago of Indonesia. It is part of the Riau Islands province, the capital of which, Tanjung Pinang, lies in the island's south and is the island's main community.
Bintan's land area is 2,402.28 square kilometres (927.53 sq mi) (total area is 60,057 square kilometres (23,188 sq mi) including 96% sea area). Its administrative region is designated the Bintan Island Regency, one of the six administrative regions of the Riau Islands province. The city of Tanjung Pinang is an autonomous area within the Bintan Island.
Bintan's history is traced to the early 3rd century. The island flourished as a trading post on the route between China and India, and over the centuries it came under the control of the Chinese, the British, and then the Dutch when it was declared part of the Dutch East Indies through the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1824. In the 12th century, the Bintan island in the Strait of Malacca was known as the Pirate Island since the Malay pirates used to loot trading ships sailing in these waters.
Singapore, the closest major city, is a 45-50 minute trip by motorised catamaran across the Singapore Strait from Bintan Resort area in the northwest of the island. The island has beaches with beach-front hotels and resorts; the most prominent of these beaches is the Bintan Resorts set over an area of 300 hectares (740 acres) of tropical environment. The archipelago of the Riau islands is right opposite to this resort across the South China Sea. Indonesia is promoting Bintan as the next best tourist destination after Bali.

Bintan Resort Ferries in Emerald Class from Bintan to Singapore
Follow Us as we share with you our Bintan Resort Ferries experience in the Emerald Class from Bintan to Singapore.
Upon arrival at the ferry terminal, we were warmly received at the lounge which was spacious and came with basic food and beverages. Besides having our documents checked, we were also presented with the F&B vouchers for the food and wine which we have pre-booked online when we bought the tickets for the ferry ride.
Though a short duration of only about 45 minutes, we still had a very comfortable journey complemented by food and drinks and on board entertainment streamed via wifi.
Upon arrival into Singapore, we hopped onto a buggy at the pier and was chauffeured to the arrival hall. This was one of the perks travelling in the Emerald Class. We collected our luggage thereafter, and board a coach which took us to Changi Airport.
This marks the end of our short getaway to a neighbouring island which is part of Indonesia. Please feel free to let us know your questions if any in the comments section below. :)

About Bintan Resort Ferries (BRF)
Bintan Resort Ferries Pte Ltd began operations in 1994 from then World Trade Centre (now known as Harbour Front). Operations shifted to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in late August 1995. Each trip to Bintan takes about an hour.
BRF operates four catamaran ferries. The first two - a 270-seat Aria Bupala and a 306-seat Indera Bupala were built in 1994 when the company first started operations. Two new generation 42 meter ferries the Wan Seri Beni and Wan Sendari were added to the BRF Fleet in 2009. Built by Damen Shipyards, Netherlands, the newer vessels are able to operate at cruising speeds in excess of 37 knots and feature high tech navigation and engineering monitoring systems. In addition, the ferries also include hardware that improve the stability in choppy seas allowing a smoother ride for passengers. Each ferry has 300 seats, 57 of which are allocated to a premium Emerald Class. Passengers in the premium class can skip the queue for immigration clearance on arrival in Bintan, and let specially assigned staff take care of the process for them.
In 2001 BRF grew her business and introduced a travel agency subsidiary called BRF Holidays. BRF Holidays provide travelers the convenience of a one-stop travel shop catering to tours in Bintan Island.
BRF and BRFH work hand in hand with Travel Agents, Resort Operators and Golf Resorts to improve services and increase visitorship to Bintan Resorts through the provision of flexible ferry schedules and travel promotions. BRF remains committed to providing a regular, safe, reliable and comfortable ferry service from Singapore to Bintan Resorts

Tanah Merah, Singapore - Bintan Resort Ferry Departing Tanah Merah (2018)
Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is a sovereign city-state and island country in Southeast Asia. It lies one degree (137 kilometres or 85 miles) north of the equator, at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, with Indonesia's Riau Islands to the south and Peninsular Malaysia to the north. Singapore's territory consists of one main island along with 62 other islets. Since independence, extensive land reclamation has increased its total size by 23% (130 square kilometres or 50 square miles).
Stamford Raffles founded colonial Singapore in 1819 as a trading post of the British East India Company; after the latter's collapse in 1858, the islands were ceded to the British Raj as a crown colony. During the Second World War, Singapore was occupied by Japan. It gained independence from the UK in 1963 by federating with other former British territories to form Malaysia, but separated two years later over ideological differences, becoming a sovereign nation in 1965. After early years of turbulence and despite lacking natural resources and a hinterland, the nation developed rapidly as an Asian Tiger economy, based on external trade and its workforce.
Singapore is a global commerce, finance and transport hub. Its standings include: the most technology-ready nation (WEF), top International-meetings city (UIA), city with best investment potential (BERI), third-most competitive country, third-largest foreign exchange market, third-largest financial centre, third-largest oil refining and trading centre and the second-busiest container port. The country has also been identified as a tax haven.
Singapore ranks 5th on the UN Human Development Index and the 3rd highest GDP per capita. It is ranked highly in education, healthcare, life expectancy, quality of life, personal safety and housing. Although income inequality is high, 90% of homes are owner-occupied. 38% of Singapore's 5.6 million residents are permanent residents and other foreign nationals. There are four official languages: English (common and first language), Malay, Mandarin and Tamil; almost all Singaporeans are bilingual.
Singapore is a unitary multiparty parliamentary republic, with a Westminster system of unicameral parliamentary government. The People's Action Party has won every election since self-government in 1959. The dominance of the PAP, coupled with a low level of press freedom and restrictions on civil liberties and political rights, has led to Singapore being classified by some as a flawed democracy. One of the five founding members of ASEAN, Singapore is also the host of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Secretariat and a member of the East Asia Summit, Non-Aligned Movement and the Commonwealth of Nations.
