This video shows a manatee tour operated by Birds Underwater in Crystal River, Florida. Unfortunately we went in May when most of the Manatees had gone out into the Gulf of Mexico, but we still saw a fair few of them. The water was merkier than normal because of the time of year we went, but we still got a very good look at them and very close up to.

Swimming with Manatees Crystal River Florida
Majestic creatures! That you can swim with in Florida. One of my favorite things to do in Florida, don't miss this activity. SWIMMING WITH MANATEES! These animals live in the waters of Florida and during winter months you have the perfect opportunity to interact with these awesome creatures. Manatees need warm water to survive and because of the warm springs in Florida, they thrive there. The water is approximately 72 degrees during winter months and is perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
We start our journey with Bird's Underwater Dive shop which offers snorkeling tours to Crystal Springs and other areas in the region. Schedule your tour early in the day when the water is coldest in the gulf. As these waters warm up the manatees leave the spring to find a meal. These springs can be very active and manatees might even let you touch them, if your lucky. Due to weather, you never know what the visibility will be in the spring. So hope, for the best.
This is a must do, while visiting Florida. During our visit we started with a fitting of our wet suits, a pontoon boat ride to the spring, and then a once in a life time swim with manatees. We were also, instructed on the etiquette of how to respect these animals and achieve the best experience. Thank you, Bird's Underwater for such a great Adventure. The guides were awesome along with the manatees.

Crystal River Refuge's Manatee Manners for Swimmers
Between November and April, Kings Bay is home to the largest aggregation of manatees in a natural environment in the world. To protect manatees from harm, harassment and disturbance, the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge and Manatee Sanctuaries were created in parts of Kings Bay. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service asks anyone wishing to swim near the manatees to watch this informational video in order to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for humans and manatees alike.

Blue Spring Florida Manatees State Park
ORANGE CITY, FL ( Florida TV) Blue Spring Florida Manatees State Park. One of the best places to see manatees in all of Florida. Florida TV takes an inside look as to why manatees flock here each year. And why people travel from around the world just to view these amazing creatures.
We tag along with the “Save The Manatee” experts that show us how they track, save and count these sea cows. Save the Manatee Club was founded in 1981 by Bob Graham, former Florida Governor and U.S. Senator, and singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett. The Club was started with the mission to protect manatees and their habitat. Today, Save the Manatee Club is the world’s leading manatee conservation organization.
BLUE SPRING STATE PARK
Conservation measures can produce astounding results. In 1970, two years before Blue Spring State Park was established, researchers tracked 14 manatees in the spring run. By 2005, after years of park improvements and manatee protection efforts, wintering manatee numbers exceeded 200. By 2018, that number skyrocketed to a record 485.
Besides sea cows, fish abound in the spring run, and these attract a variety of wading birds, ospreys, eagles and kingfishers. To see the park’s wonders, one can hike along the spring run or on the 4.5-mile Pine Island Trail. One can also launch a canoe or kayak, rent one at the park or take a guided riverboat cruise.
Blue Spring State Park is a state park located west of Orange City, Florida in the United States. The park is a popular tourist destination; available activities include canoeing, SCUBA diving, kayaking, fishing, camping, hiking, wildlife watching, and swimming.
Please call Blue Spring State Park at 386-775-3663 before your visit to get the latest manatee count.

Swim with the Manatee - Bird's Underwater
Bird's Underwater manatee swim. We were at the dive shop at 6:15am. We are so glad we did too! We were with manatee during the entire 3 and a half hours.
Swimming with Florida manatees
outdoortravelchannel.tv - Endangered Florida manatees (Trichechus manatus latirostris) are present in Kings Bay's warm, spring-fed waters year-round; in winter, though, their numbers swell substantially as they seek refuge from the Gulf of Mexico's chilly waters. Crystal River operators offer swimming/snorkelling tours to sites such as Three Sisters Springs, where clear waters provide a magnificent opportunity to view these aquatic mammals in their natural habitat.
In March 2012, the US Fish and Wildlife Service established a manatee refuge in the waters of Kings Bay, including its tributaries and connected waters. Prohibited activities include:
(i) Chasing or pursuing manatees
(ii) Disturbing or touching a resting or feeding manatee(s).
(iii) Diving from the surface onto a resting or feeding manatee(s).
(iv) Cornering or surrounding or attempting to corner or surround a manatee(s).
(v) Riding, holding, grabbing, or pinching or attempting to ride, hold, grab, or pinch a manatee(s).
(vi) Poking, prodding, or stabbing or attempting to poke, prod, or stab a manatee(s) with anything, including your hands and feet.
(vii) Standing on or attempting to stand on a manatee(s).
(viii) Separating a mother and calf or attempting to separate a mother and calf.
(ix) Separating a manatee(s) from a group or attempting to separate a manatee(s) from a group.
(x) Giving a manatee(s) anything to eat or drink or attempting to give a manatee(s) anything to eat or drink.
(xi) Actively initiating contact with a belted and/or tagged manatee(s) and associated gear, including any belts, harnesses, tracking devices, or antennae.
(xii) Interfering with rescue and research activities.
