Scott F. Walmsley Homes - Builder
5,300 Heated SF on Two Stories
5 BR / 3.5 Baths
Inspired by the profoundly simple elegance of one of Edward Lutyen's English country homes, the architects set upon the task of adapting it to contemporary living on costal Louisiana. The living spaces of the home open up to an inspired view over centuries-old family farmland and toward the Gulf of Mexico, balanced on one end by a semi-circular Porte Cochere at the open approach and on the other by a half-round Master Bedroom tucked into the privacy of the thick woods. Twin stairs on each end of the keeping room lead up to a more private family room surrounded by bedrooms for the younger generation of family members and a gracious sleeping porch for visiting family and friends. Ample space tucked under the steep roof allows for future expansion as the family continues to grow. Though instigated by unfortunate circumstances, the new home promises a safe haven for generations to come.

Plume hunting - Video Learning - WizScience.com
Plume hunting is the hunting of wild birds to harvest their feathers, especially the more decorative plumes which were sold for use as ornamentation, such as aigrettes in millinery. The movement against the plume trade in the United Kingdom was pioneered by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. The plume trade was at its height in the late 19th and was brought to an end in the early 20th century. Today, the killing of birds is outlawed in most countries.
By the late 19th century, plume hunters had nearly wiped out the snowy egret population of the United States. Flamingoes, roseate spoonbills, great egrets and peafowl have also been targeted by plume hunters. The Empress of Germany's bird of paradise was also a popular target of plume hunters.
Victorian era fashion included large hats with wide brims decorated in elaborate creations of silk flowers, ribbons, and exotic plumes. Hats sometimes included entire exotic birds that had been stuffed. Plumage often came from birds in the Florida everglades, some of which were nearly extinguished by overhunting. By 1899, early environmentalists such as Adeline Knapp were engaged in efforts to curtail the hunting for plumes. By 1900, more than five million birds were being killed every year, including 95 percent of Florida's shore birds.
In Hawaii, Kāhili are feather standards worn by the chiefly class. Native American war bonnets and various feather headdresses also feature feathers.
At the turn of the 20th century, thousands of birds were being killed in order to provide feathers to decorate women's hats. The fashion craze, which began in the 1870s, became so widespread that by 1886 birds were being killed for the millinery trade at a rate of five million a year; many species faced extinction as a result. In Florida, plume birds were first driven away from the most populated areas in the northern part of the state, and forced to nest further south. Rookeries concentrated in and around the Everglades area, which had abundant food and seasonal dry periods, ideal for nesting birds. By the late 1880s, there were no longer any large numbers of plume birds within reach of Florida's most settled cities.

Louisiana
Louisiana By Haleigh Lasseigne
Louisiana is the 18th state in the United States of America. It is the only state that has parishes, rather than counties.
The Great Seal of the State of Louisiana displays a pelican, surrounded by the words “Union, Justice, and Confidence.”
The state’s capitol is in the city of Baton Rouge. It is the tallest capitol building in the country, at 450 feet high.
The state was named in honor of King Louis XIV of France.
Louisiana consists of 5 regions, North Louisiana, Central Louisiana, Acadiana, Florida Parishes, and Greater New Orleans.
Louisiana is known for its vast swamps. Along with a beautiful scenery, you can find alligators, turtles, and nutria lurking in these wetlands.
Many antebellum plantation homes still exist throughout the state of Louisiana, offering a glimpse of a huge part of history in the United States.
In Louisiana, you can find one of the most popular destinations in the country, known for its diverse culture, New Orleans.
In New Orleans, you can find the longest continuous bridge in the world, Lake Pontchartrain.
Above all, New Orleans is worldly-known for Mardi Gras. Thousands of people travel from all over the world to take part in the parades, masks, and music.
Another staple of Mardi Gras is the delicious King Cake. Along with its green, purple, and yellow sprinkles, you can find a tiny, plastic baby in each cake.
Louisiana is the birthplace of jazz music. Along the streets of New Orleans, you can find many bands playing their saxophones, trumpets, and trombones.
Louisiana’s NFL football team is the New Orleans Saints. Quarterback, Drew Brees is known as having the most passing yards and completions in the NFL.
Louisiana State University is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The university is known for having a live mascot on campus, Mike the Tiger!
The state crustacean, crawfish, is a popular food in Louisiana, where people boil these critters with spicy seasonings, corn, and potatoes.
Tabasco hot sauce is another staple of the state. You can even tour where the peppers are grown and then made into a sauce on Avery Island.
The state flower is the beautiful magnolia blossom.
The state tree is the bald cypress, often found in the swamps of Louisiana.
Alligators are the state reptile. Alligators are the largest reptile in North America.
Believe it or not, Louisiana’s state drink is actually milk.
The state fruit is the strawberry. Every spring, there is an annual strawberry festival in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
The state bird is the majestic brown pelican. The bird can be found on the state’s flag and seal.
Black bears are the state mammal. There are only a remaining 3-400 left of this threatened species.
The Catahoula Leopard dog is the state’s dog. These pup’s can often be found having blue eyes.
Louisiana’s state insect is the honey bee. Playing in the background is Louisiana’s state song, ‘You are My Sunshine’.

Lake Peigneur in Louisiana is Bubbling from the Underwater Salt Dome!
Atlanta Gas Light or (AGL) Resources stores gas UNDER Lake Peigneur in the salt dome since 1994 despite the castastrophy of 1980.

Fair use of this video applies for the sole purpose of education of the public.
Since 2008 Lake Peigneur has been making headlines as unusual bubbling events in the water have residents worried that the natural gas stored in the unstable salt dome below and is posing a threat to their community. No proper testing has been done!
At Lake Peigneur we unsuccessfully fought against the development of the first 2 natural gas storage caverns in 1994, and since 2005 we have actively opposed the development of additional storage cavern expansion.
We have repeatedly asked the state to require a federal standard Environmental Impact Statement. Now in light of the catastrophe in Assumption Parish we are asking for AGL Resources/Jefferson Island Storage & Hub to voluntarily withdraw their permit application. They have refused. We have asked Governor Jindal to use his privilege as Governor to deny the permit application and block all future requests for salt cavern storage at the Jefferson Island Salt Dome.

How Big Oil Conquered the World
TRANSCRIPT AND SOURCES:
From farm to pharmaceutical, diesel truck to dinner plate, pipeline to plastic product, it is impossible to think of an area of our modern-day lives that is not affected by the oil industry. The story of oil is the story of the modern world. And this is the story of those who helped shape that world, and how the oil-igarchy they created is on the verge of monopolizing life itself.

Video Credit List is stored here Louisiana is a state located in the southern region of the United States. Louisiana is the 31st most extensive and the 25th most populous of the 50 United States. Its capital is Baton Rouge and largest city is New Orleans. Louisiana is the only state in the U.S. with political subdivisions termed parishes, which are the local government's equivalent to counties. The largest parish by population is East Baton Rouge Parish, and the largest by land area is Plaquemines. Louisiana is bordered by Arkansas to the north, Mississippi to the east, Texas to the west, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. Much of the state's lands were formed from sediment washed down the Mississippi River, leaving enormous deltas and vast areas of coastal marsh and swamp. These contain a rich southern biota; typical examples include birds such as ibis and egrets.
