The Art of Fishing With Birds
Along the scenic Lijiang River in China, brothers Huang Yuechang and Huang Mingde have been keeping up a centuries-old tradition of fishing with cormorant birds. Forgoing nets and modern fishing poles, these brothers have cultivated relationships with their birds in a way that’s found them success in cormorant fishing for more than six decades. But with no young fishermen choosing this ancient method, they may be the last ones to carry on this rare Chinese tradition.

Di sini pada musim sejuk, anda akan berpeluang melihat pemandangan salji memutih serta ais terjun (air terjun yang membeku !). Sungai membeku dan pohon-pohon berwarna putih diselimuti salji.

泸沽湖 Lugu Lake Travel VLOG (Yunnan/Sichuan, China)
Video of our Nov-2017 self-drive trip to Lugu Lake (泸沽湖) in southwest China.

Lugu Lake is located in a mountainous region which is about 200km from Lijiang City (丽江市). It is an alpine lake famed for its spectacular scenery and is home to the Mosuo minority ethnic group.
Adminitstratively, Lugu Lake sits on the border between Yunnan (云南) and Sichuan (四川) Province. With 2/3 of it in Yunnan and 1/3 in Sichuan.
Lugu Lake sits at an elevation of 2685m, making it the highest lake in Yunnan Province. Ringed by mountains on all sides, the panoramic lake has 4 peninsulas, 5 islands, 14 bays and an impressive 17 beaches.
The lake has long been home to the local Mosuo people, whom are widely recognised to be the last matriarchal society in the world. Thus, Lugu Lake is also commonly refered to as “The Kingdom of Women”, “Home of the Matriarchal Tribe” and “Women’s World”.

'Sharp Island or Kiu Tsui Chau (Chinese: 橋咀洲) is the largest island in the Kiu Tsui Country Park located at Port Shelter of Sai Kung, Hong Kong.[1] Tourists go there for BBQ activities, fishing, swimming as well as diving. Sharp Island is under the administration of Sai Kung District.
The island has a maximum elevation of 136 m and an area of 1 km².[2] The two beaches Half Moon Bay Beach (廈門灣泳灘), also known as Hap Mun Bay, and Kiu Tsui Beach (橋咀泳灘) are located on the island.[1] Both are managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.[3]
When the predicted tides at Ko Lau Wan is lower than or equal to +1.40 meter, visitors can go to an inshore islet named Kiu Tau (橋頭) on foot. For more details, please visit the Hong Kong Observatory website [1].
Different kind of volcanic rocks can be found on Sharp Island. The most frequent ones are rocks with a peculiar pattern on the surface. Other rocks have an unusual pineapple shaped form.
It is believed that about 140 million years ago a volcano was located in Sai Kung. Sharp Island was according to that on the margin of the caldera. This is probably the reason for the widely distributed different volcanic rocks from different geological periods around Sharp Island.'

Record number of seagulls flock to China's spring city
A southwestern Chinese city has seen more arrivals of seagulls this winter.
So far, the number has broken a three-decade record.
Dianchi Lake Basin in Kunming, captial of southwest China's Yunnan Province, is an ideal winter habitat for seagulls.
This winter, the basin has seen arrivals of about 40,500 seagulls, some 1,000 more than the number of the last year.
It also set a new record of the past 31 years.
They mainly migrated from Lake Baikal in Russia, Uvs Nuur Basin in Mongolia, and Bosten Lake in far west China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

One of the most stunning and beautiful places in the world, the Wulingyuan Scenic Area in China's Hunan Province has more than 3,000 sandstone pillars and peaks, some higher than 200 meters/660 feet. 복잡한 대도시를 떠나, 자연의 품속에 안겨 있고 싶다는 생각이 들었고, 그래서 찾아간 곳이 바로 뎬츠다. 뎬츠는 쿤밍에서 30분 거리. 둘레는 170킬로미터에 가깝고. 면적만해도 여의도의 40배나 된다니. 너무 넓어서 호수라고 불리기보다는 쿤밍해라고 불리는 것이 이해가 된다. 너른 호수 뎬츠를 앞뜰 삼아 우뚝 선 이곳은 서산 용문이다. 거의 90도로 깎아지른 절벽 만해도 장관인데. 가만 들여다보면 마치 용이 지나간 자리 같은 굴이 하나 보인다. 이 모두 사람의 손으로 만든 것. 절벽 속 통 바위를 계단식으로 뚫어서 드나들 수 있게 했는데. 돌아 나오는데 까지 걸리는 시간은 불과5분여 만드는 데 무려 70년이 넘는 세월이 걸렸다고 한다. 그 오랜 세월을 들여서 바위를 뚫고 길을 내야 했던 이유는 무엇일까? 궁금해서 그 길을 따라 걸어 보았다. 만지면 행운을 가져다준다는 용문 구슬. 발길 멈추고 손길 뻗지 않는 사람 없고. 용문을 오르고 있는 큰 잉어조각 앞에선 행운을 잡은 듯 사진을 찍기도 하고. 만든 사람의 정성이 행운을 가져다주기를..마음이 간절해진다. 분명 이유가 있었을 것이라고 짐작은 했다. 과연, 300미터나 되는 이 까마득한 절벽에 굴을 파고 사당을 만든 사람은 도교의 승려 였다고 한다. 수도할 곳을 찾아 길을 내고 사원을 만든 것이다. 섬세하고 정교하기만한 이 모든 것들이 통으로 이뤄진 하나의 바위를 파서 만들어진 것이라니. 어쩌면 이 용문을 만든 사람들의 바램은 성공적이었는지도 모른다. 세월이 훌쩍 흐른 지금. 내가 이곳에 서서 그 간절한 신앙심에 경외감을 표할 수밖에 없으니 말이다.
