Birthi Falls is one of the biggest waterfalls in the state of Uttarakhand and biggest waterfall in the Kumaon region. The waterfall is located 35km from Munsiyari and can be approached by a short trek of 30o meters. The height of the waterfall is 126 meters and the flow of water is so gigantic that the water droplets reach till the road.
Birthi Falls is one of the must visit place in the Munsiyari Region of the Himalayas and one of the many places to visit in Munsiyari. The place has good connectivity to all the major cities of India via Rail/Road and Air. Munsiyari is around 550km from the national capital of India i.e. Delhi and can be reached after a drive of 12 hours.
The Best time to visit Birthi Falls is during the monsoon season when the when the waterfall flows at its full might. Though the waterfall can be enjoyed any time of the year as its source is water melting from the Himalayan Peaks.

About Maheshwari Kund

The locals also refer to Maheshwari Kund or Mehasr Kund / Messar kund or Meshar Kund by locals. It is located a few kilometres away from Munsiyari. There is a famous Hindu legend associated with the lake. It says a Yaksha, a demi-god who used to reside in the pristine lake, cursed the kund.

Gori Ganga (also Gori Gad) is a river in the Munsiari tehsil of the Pithoragarh District, part of the state of Uttarakhand in northern India. Its principal source is the Milam Glacier, just northeast of Nanda Devi along with the Glaciers of the Ralam River, and the Pyunshani and Uttari & Dakshini Balati Glaciers that lie on the western face of the Panchachuli Peaks.

Munsiyari is a comely hamlet situated in the
Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand state , nestled in the snow capped peaks of the Himalayas Munsiyari offers splendid vistas of natural beauteousness. This scenic hill station is perched at an altitude of 2298mts (7200+ft) above sea level.
In local parlance, the name 'Munsiyari' refers to a 'place with snow'. Situated on the banks of Goriganga river, it is a fast-growing tourist destination, and mountaineers, glacier enthusiasts, high altitude trekkers and nature lovers commonly use it as their hub or base camp. Munsiyari also falls on the ancient salt route from Tibet and is at the entrance of the Johar Valley, which extends along the path of the Gori Ganga river to its source at the
Milam Glacier.
Why Visit Munsiyari?
It offers stunning views of snow capped higher Himalayan ranges. Panchachuli is a group of five peaks and is the star attraction at Munsiyari as they look like chimneys and are amongst the gorgeous treasure trove among the magnificent peaks of Nandadevi, Nandakot, Rajarambha and mountains of Nepal Himalayas. The Virgin environs of the valley offers breathe taking views of the surrounding mountain ranges.
Munsyari is famous for its picturesque beauty and trekking excursions and is popular with high altitude trekkers and adventure enthusiasts as this place is the base of Milam, Ralam and Namik Glaciers.

The Panchchuli peaks
The Panchchuli peaks are a group of five snow capped Himalayan peaks lying at the end of the eastern Kumaon region in the Pithoragarh district. The peaks have altitudes ranging from 6,334 m to 6,904 m. They form the watershed between the Gori and the Darmaganga valleys. Panchchuli is also located on the Gori Ganga-Lassar Yankti divide. The group lies 138 km from Pithoragarh.

Munsiyari is well connected with major destinations of Uttarakhand and buses to the nearest city Pithoragarh are available from ISBT Anand Vihar, Delhi. On reaching Pithoragarh you need to take another bus to reach Munsiyari. Tanakpur railhead at 274 km away is the nearest rail connectivity. Taxis to Munsiyari are available from this railhead. Pantnagar airport at 313 km is the closest air connectivity, offering taxis services to Munsiyari.
