This covers our drive from Sakleshpura town to Bisle ghat view point. Bisle ghat view point is 46 kms from Sakleshpura.
Road Condition: Currently the ghat road is under construction. 39 Kms of road from Sakleshpur town towards Bisle view point is in good condition. Only last 7 kms is still under repair and one can expect it to be completed by end of year 2017.
Time Taken ~From Sakleshpura, in present road condition~ : 1Hr 45 Mins.
Route Taken: Sakleshpura - Byakaravalli - Hethur - Vanagur Junction - Bisle ghat View point.
Ridge Point: Just before 4 Kms from Bisle view point, you will reach a village called Mankanahalli. There you’ll find an inscription laid on a concrete platform. It makes a mention of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and the ‘Ridge’.
The ridge is the point in the mountains that determines which way rivers or streams are likely to flow.
It is said that this stone was laid by the British. British officers found that it was the point where rain water splits and reaches two different seas.
From this ridge, rain water flowing to the west joins River Kumaradhara, unites with River Netravathy before making it to Arabian Sea. Water flowing to the east links up with River Hemavathy, a tributary of River Cauvery, to join the Bay of Bengal.
The rain water from the left of this point flows towards the west to reach Arabian Sea while water from the eastern side drains into the Bay of Bengal.

Elephant Corridor:
Elephants often criss cross this area and is one among 20 elephant corridors of southern India. Elephant Corridor enables Indian Elephants to move safely between protected areas, avoiding human-wildlife conflict and protecting continuous critical wildlife habitat.

Bisile ghat Reserve Forest is a reserve forest in westernmost Hassan district of Karnataka state, India.

It is located in Hassan district's Sakleshpur taluk. Bisle village adjoins the forest to the east. It is contiguous with Kagneri Reserve Forest to the north, Bhagimalai Reserve Forest of Dakshina Kannada district to the west, and Kukke Subramanya forest range to the southwest. To the south it adjoins Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary in Kodagu district. Bisle Reserve forest and the reserve forests extending north along the Bisle Ghat range form a natural corridor linking Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary and Kudremukh National Park.
The Kumaradhara River, a tributary of the Netravati, runs through the reserve forest from east to west, creating a pass through the Western Ghats. Bisle Ghat Road follows the Kumaradhara, linking Hassan district with Dakshina Kannada district and the valley of the Netravati.
Around 5 km west of Bisle is scenic spot of Bisle called Bisle Betta or Bisle View Point. From here one can see the mountain ranges of 3 districts: Kumara Parvatha (1319 m) of Dakshina Kannada district, Pushpagiri (1712 m) and Dodda Betta (1119 m) of Kodagu district, and Patta Betta (1112 m) and Enni Kallu (900 m) of Hassan district. The highlight of this point is that the view has a valley, with Giri River separating the beauty point and these mountain ranges. The forest department has erected a viewing platform with a sun-shade to sit and enjoy the view. In addition to the view point, the forest department has built and maintains a few other facilities in the forest:

Though Bisle is given the status of reserve forest, the stretch from Kulkunda to Bisle gate is undisturbed by human activities except for the following constructions by forest department.

Down on the riverside of Addahole few Dormitories with a rope bridge.
An inspection bungalow at Addahole bridge.
A round sun shade at a view point and watch tower at the Bisle View Point.
The reserve forest is part of the North Western Ghats montane rain forests ecoregion.
The thick forest is home of king cobras, tigers (rarely seen), Sambar deer, peacocks, numerous species of birds, Spotted deer, brown fox and Mahasheer fish, not to mention a number of flora and fauna which can only be found in this region of Western Ghats. Elephants often criss cross this area and is a elephant corridor of Western ghats. One of the largest and rarest Indian mustelids Nilgiri marten( Martes gwatkinsii) were sighted recently in Bisle forest.
Bisle Ghat is the best picturesque destination of Karnataka and is rewarded as 'heaven on the earth'. Bisle Ghat is stretch of beautiful adventurous spot between Kukke Subrahmanya and Sakleshpura. Bisle is part of Western Ghats and situated in the border of Hassan district and Dakshina Kannada district.
Bisle Ghat is a perfect destination for the trekkers. Not only because of its breathtaking view but also it is one of the toughest trekking routes in Karnataka.
Bisle view point near Bisle Ghat (5 Km from Bisle village) offers you the magnificent view of the three mountain ranges - Yenikallu Betta (Hassan district), Doddabetta and Pushpagiri (Kodagu district) and Kumaraparvatha (Dakshina Kannada district). A lot of mountains and forest can be viewed from here.
Travelling via Bisle Ghat gives you a thrilling experience. The stretch passes through the reserve forest. You can see and enjoy many waterfalls (especially during rainy season) you can also enjoy by seeing peacocks, monkeys, deer's and snakes.
Best Time to Visit: Any time is the fine to enjoy the beauty of Bisle Ghat but September to December is the perfect time.

Find this surprising? A ridge on Bisile Ghat in Sakleshpur in Hassan district divides the rain water flowing in the region between the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.
Rainfall on the ridge flow to various streams in the Ghat which than link up with rivers before ending their journey either in the Arabian Sea in the west or Bay of Bengal Bengal in the east.
On the way to Bisile Ghat at Mankanahalli, one can’t fail to notice the stone slab on a platform where it is engraved ‘Arabian Sea’ and ‘Bay of Bengal’ indicating the direction of flow of water between the two seas. British officers had decided that it was the ridge point at Mankanahalli on Bisile Ghat which would separate the flow of water between Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. From this ridge, rain water flowing to the west joins River Kumaradhara, flowing through the pilgrim centre of Kukke Subramanaya and then unites with River Netravathy before making it to Arabian Sea. Water flowing to the east links up with River Hemavathy, a tributary of River Cauvery, to culminate its journey in the Bay of Bengal.

I had been to bisle ghat last year, but it was just till the view point.
So i decided this time while coming back from mangalore why don't i try that route, SOLO. It was an amazing experience, adding to that, few stretches were really creepy. All in all it was an amazing experience riding solo there.

This is how i crashed my motorcycle in Bisle ghat forest, Karnataka.
I wanted to capture the beauty of the forest by using an action camera mounted on the helmet. But while riding, i looked at something that caught my attention. In the mean time, the motorcycle took to the edge of the road and lost control. Luckily someone is crossing the place and helped me pull myself from under the bike.
This is a message to those who drive looking at mobile phones or have a tendency to look else where. I wanted to show the crash moments in good detail so that people take care next time.
Wish you safe riding but do not stop yourself from taking a Forest ride. You will love it. And it is healthy for heart and mind.
