Biz Johnson Trail - Susanville, Calif
Horseback riding through two former railroad tunnels on the Biz Johnson Trail. The trail is located in Lassen County California, is 30 miles long, and goes all the way from Susanville, Ca to Westwood, Ca. The main trail head is at the old Railroad Depot in the City of Susanville, about 90 miles north of Reno & about 90 miles east of Red Bluff, Calif. Great trail for hiking, biking, riding horses, fishing, swimming, seasonal x-country sking... Susanville is NOT just a prison town!
Bizz Johnson Trail - Part 1 That Old Scenic Historical Hobo Route Susanville California
A journey along the old Fernley Lassen Railroad line once owned by the Southern Pacific this spur was built strictly for passenger service and the exportation of lumber. It resides along a place called Hobo Camp the site of the original sawmill built by Governor Roop during Susanville's early years. The railroad exported lumber to other spurs which made it all over the world as along this 30 mile spur the Lassen National Forest provided some of the best quality timber. The depot which was built in 1913 brought an influx of emigrants to the area who mined, worked lumber mills and even a 1000 railroad workers who built this spur through the great Susan Canyon to Westwood thirty miles to the west. This journey will began at the depot taking you over trestles along the beautiful Susan River all the way to an original historic train tunnel. Nature is very abundant as the canyon walls close in where once the train once carried hobos and flat cars of timber cut from the Lassen National Forest. Today very little remains of the original railroad, sawmills, hobo camps or the Paul Bunyan boom days. But one can enjoy the rich history, beautiful scenery and adventure that resides within this canyon along the Susan River. This is a journey that will take my viewers along the rail trail for about six miles. You will see rapids, waterfall, hear birds chirping and see remnants of railroad history left behind before this line met its end. Perhaps even the ghosts of the past haunt this desolate canyon which was home at one time to over a thousand men. If you wish to see and learn more you can do so by visiting the link below.

Susanville Part 2 | Bizz Johnson Trail
On day 2 of our Susanville leg of our Northern California basketball / ministry trip, we hoped to, this time, catch our son's game. We were also able to get out and explore, and film some of God's creation in the area. We thank the Lord for His creation and His blessings on this trip.

Susanville Historic Cemetery - Part 1 Governor Roops First Pioneers A Grand Tour
In the 1850's Nevada governor laid out the town of Susanville. The settlement begin when Roop opened up a trading post often referred to as Fort Defiance and what at the time was Roopville eventually was renamed to Susanville after his own very daughter Susan. The mining, lumbering and ranching community needed a place to bury there loved ones thus in 1860 this cemetery was born on a grassy knoll overlooking town. The first burial was a boy who drowned in a local mill pond followed by a series of local tragedies that led to this graveyard expanding two other times. Despite that it was deemed as a closed cemetery at least 99 interments continued on in the later 1900's. I want others to bear in mind when you watch this video understand that this cemetery contains some of the very first settlers who stopped along the Nobels Emigrant Trail which was meant to deter going through Donner Pass just north of Tahoe where conditions were very harsh. Despite that factor many of the interments found here are politicians, pioneers and many figured who played a part in developing Lassen County in the 1800s. Life was harsh during the time these people were buried as one mans grave said killed by Indians while your going to see another grave that has the individual died before they lived. At the end of the video I integrated a small gallery of the broken but not forgotten, BW's, Notables and graves of various pioneers so take a gander. My main goal i s preservation all that really remains of the original Susanville or Roopville truly is this beautiful cemetery which is full of lush green grass, big trees and flowers growing everywhere. Come walk with me through one of the oldest and largest cemeteries your gateway into Lassen Volcanic National Monument Park and final resting place for those who were part of Susanville's pioneer history in the honey lake valley region!
