Black Diamond Powder - Niseko December 2014
My friends and I are spending 2 weeks in Niseko... its been snowing since the day we got here, 151cm in 7 days. This is some footage of our first blue bird day... after a 45cm dump the night before.
Struggling up Mt. Yotei in Niseko
Boot packing or skinning up Mt. Yotei can be difficult but the views are rewarding. This is when Ned finds struggle town on the Makkari side of Mt. Yotei in March 2012.
Shimamaki Snowcats | Powder Skiing & Snowboarding Hokkaido Japan
Skiing in deep Japanese pow is unlike anything else. For an experience that you won’t soon forget, head to the northern Island of Hokkaido for a BEYOND EPIC ski/snowboard experience. I can’t count with my hands and toes how many face shots I had in my two days of shredding. I did a private cat ski tour with Hokkaido Backcountry Club and it was WELL WORTH IT despite the hefty price tag. These guys know what they’re doing and take you onto a mountain that no one else skis except for their tour groups, near the small fishing town of Shimamaki. They are the only group in the world who has a permit to shred these insane runs! Talk about unlimited freshies! Skiing Grand Hirafu - Niseko 2019!
After visiting Japan in the summer of 2017, we decided then and there that we needed to return in the winter to go skiing and see the famous japowder....so we did!
Here are our adventures! I hadn't skied for around 15 years and Kirsti hadn't skied at all ever, so I am reasonably proud of both our efforts. Enjoy the video!

2日ぶりに少しの降雪でちょいリセットの入った1月27日のニセコは朝からいい天気。東京からお越しの3人は学生時代からの滑り友だち。新雪の量は少なめだったけど場所を選べば気持ちのいいバーンがありましたね。普通の女の子がジャンボ鶴田の垂直落下式バックドロップをくらっても平気なニセコのパウダーはやっぱり素晴らしいですね。
