Millendreath Beach is a Mediterranean style complex tastefully landscaped into the wooded slopes of a picturesque Cornish valley. It is a short stroll directly onto the safe sandy beach and coastal walks, woodland walks and picnic areas in scenic locations. Sit and soak up the sun in this sheltered south facing suntrap valley in a relaxed atmosphere. Or visit the Blackrock beach cafe and water-sports centre at the beach head. Other amenities close by include horse riding, golf, sea and coarse fishing, yachting, and the famous local Monkey Sanctuary.
Shore Fishing - Harbour Wall Fishing for Grey Mullet
Harbour walls offer convenient fishing for a variety of species. One of those species, the Thick Lipped Grey Mullet is considered by many as the most difficult to catch and they are definitely the most difficult fish to catch I have ever fished for. Although I am by no means a dedicated Mullet angler, I do enjoy a few trips each year purely for the challenge and satisfaction of catching one.
It was October and late in the year for my first Mullet fishing session, but I headed to a harbour wall I have successfully fished before in previous years to see if I could catch one.

Gundred's holywell, nr Roche, Cornwall
Taking the A30 west past Victoria Inn, 1/4 mile, you'll see a track on the right that goes over the railway, then following diverted track that goes under the new A30 to a cottage, then through their front garden (don't worry, you're still on a public right of way),(also, look out for dog poo!), to a gate, which leads down a steepish path then left towards some boggy ground, where you will find a pleasing looking well. Gundred was the daughter of a leper who live in a cell on roche rock nearby. She collected water for her father from here for its medicinal properties. St Conan (from Wales), the original occupant of Roche rock, became the first bishop of Cornwall. Near the rock is another well, reputed to ebb with tide! The rock marks the flow of the St Michael Leyline, the chapel on the rock being dedicated to St Michael, patron saint of high places. Well worth a visit.

Black Rock Oceanfront Resort || Room Tour & Review
In this video, we review our stay at the Black Rock Oceanfront Resort in Ucluelet, BC Canada off the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Sit back as we give you a tour of the resort, the grounds, our Studio Trail suite and a quick review of our experience and food at the Float bar & lounge.
If you found this review helpful, please give us a thumbs up & subscribe.
MONEY SAVING TIPS:
1. If you don't mind a short walk to the main hotel, you can save on your nightly rate by booking a Trail Suite. Even though it rained a fair amount during our visit, we really enjoyed the tranquility of being away from the hotel.
2. If you fly in to the Tofino Airport, it may be cheaper to rent a car from the airport. There is only one Taxi in town and it has a $70 one-way flat rate. If you decide not to rent a car, the town is about a 15 minute brisk walk and the Co-op is well equipped with food & supplies, just bring a backpack or some cloth bags to make it easier to bring back to the hotel.
3. Sign up for the Black Rock email list. Every now and then they send out deals on nightly rates or packages.
4. Keep a look out for their gift card sale!!! After we booked, we found out they were selling discounted gift cards that could be used in the restaurants and for the nightly room rate!!!!! This helped us save a pretty penny!

Wooli is a beautiful seaside village with a storybook setting. On land it is encircled by Yuraygir National Park and the village is located on a narrow peninsula with the Wooli Wooli River on it’s western side and the Pacific Ocean to the east. This section of coastline forms the northern sector of the Solitary Islands Marine Park which protects the estuaries, beaches and islands from the Sandon River to Coffs Harbour in the south.
Finding takeaway fish and chips at Wooli is easy.
As the Gateway to the Solitary Islands Marine Park, Wooli is the perfect place for those wanting to explore the natural underwater beauty of the marine park by deepsea diving. Wooli is the only place in the Clarence Valley with a dive shop for those needing diving gear or tank refills.
The Wooli Wooli River can be negotiated for around 20km by canoe or boat. Kangaroos, emus, black-necked storks, brolgas, kingfishers, parrots and all manner of wildlife abound along the banks.
Holidaymakers can find many perfect fishing and picnic spots along the riverbank. The serious angler can chase bigger dreams from the beaches, rocks (the breakwalls are popular) or deepsea where local fishing charters are available into the marine park.
There are many kilometres of secluded beaches in and around Wooli and visitors love to find their own favourite spot to swim, fish, walk or relax.
You are spoilt for choice when it comes to accommodation. Wooli has a holiday resort, caravan park, hotel/motel, river lodges, and a plethora of holiday units for rent.
For a spot of dining out try a delicious meal at the the bistro at the hotel/motel, the Chinese restaurant at the bowling club or the cafe/restaurant at the local kiosk. For a quick snack or meal on the go the general stores or the kiosk. Don’t forget to try some of the delicious local seafood, especially the famous Wooli Oyster.
There is a mini putt-putt golf course and canoes for hire at the holiday resort, tennis courts available to the public, deep-sea diving, fishing and whale watching charters, boat hire and eco tours, and bowling club.
Probably one of Australia’s most unique sporting festivals, The Australian National Goanna Pulling Championships is held every year at Easter. By using a thick leather belt strapped to their heads this sport is a test of strength between two combatants trying to pull their opponent across the line to achieve victory (and it’s not just for the men!).
This is always a huge event for the usually quiet seaside village with tug-o-war, brick carrying and sprint races.
