EXPLORE BC: THE BLACK TUSK | THE HIKE THAT ALMOST KILLED US
Explore BC Episode #9: Welcome to The Black Tusk.
Hands down, conquering the black tusk is by far one of my most proudest hike accomplishments in British Columbia. The Black Tusk is located in the Garibaldi Provincial Park and is a staggering 1740m in walking elevation, 29km round trip.
It's usually not recommended to do the black tusk in one day due to the duration of the hike and the danger of resource constraints, but my friends and I made the spontaneous decision that we had a solid chance.
For anyone doing the black tusk, I highly do not recommend pressuring any friends (particularly those incapable of climbing near-vertical rock walls) to do the hike. The smaller and more experienced group you go with, the better but DO NOT go alone.
If you enjoyed this video, make sure to give it a thumbs up and share it with your other friends who might be interested in doing this hike. :)
Cheers,
Chris Daley

The stratovolcano pinnacle can be climbed via a fun scramble up a chimney, leading to incredible views over Garibaldi Lake, Panorama ridge, Tantalus, and surrounding mountain ranges. Follow my climb as I show the way up the chimney in POV.

Garibaldi Lake, Panorama Ridge, and Black Tusk Hike | in 4K
August 6 - 8, 2018 I hiked up to Garibaldi Lake with reservations for a 2 night stay. My plan was to hike up Panorama Ridge the first day after setting up camp. The second day I would head up Black Tusk and attempt to summit. Nothing but beautiful weather and gorgeous views on all sides. Lots of hungry horse flies too.
Reservations for staying overnight in Garibaldi Provincial Park can be made on the BC Parks website.

Black Tusk Hike - Garibaldi Provincial Park - British Columbia - Canada
Saturday ,September 14,2013 - Doing the Black Task hike in Garibaldi Provincial Park on a Weekend Day,during the POPULAR SUMMER MONTHS is never a good idea. As early as 8:30 AM,you'll find the parking lots full and you'll need to park on the road. The campgrounds at Taylor Meadows are overflowing, and campers will usually try and get to the Tusk early the next morning. So it was on this Saturday, lots of people on the trails and a large lineup at the Chimney, the main access to the top of the Tusk.Since there is some risk with the loose rock and the nature of the climb,it's never a good idea to have extra pressure to either climb or descend due to crowds.Having said that,it is so grand and majestic no matter where you look ,treat yourself and just go whenever you can, just be very cautious.
Black Tusk Hike (Through Taylor's Meadows & Garibaldi Lake) Full HD Coverage
Black Tusk Hike is situated in the Garibaldi Provincial lake area near Whistler near Vancouver in Canada. From Rubble Creek Trailhead where you park your vehicle, there are two hiking trails to reach to the Black Tusk Top.
1. Hiking Via Taylor's Meadows directly to Black Tusk
2. Hiking Via Garibaldi lake to the Black Tusk.
While going we hiked directly to the Black Tusk so save some time and energy. Total hiking distance is around 11.5 Km and it took us around 4.5 hours to reach to the top. Last 3.5 Km of the Black Tusk hike is steep and very tough. It took us around 1.2 hours. The view from the Black Tusk viewpoint is breathtaking and is a 360-degree view. Total elevation gain is around 5550 feet.
While returning, we decided to come back via Garibaldi Lake. This hiking distance is around 19.5 Km. Since you mostly walk downhill, it took us around 5 hours with sufficient break to reach the Black Tusk parking lot.
