The Sunday Market and the neighbouring Airport on the morning of Sunday the 31st March 2013.
It was a cold and breezy day with brief periods of sunshine.
The final Market opening day was Sunday, the 3rd of May, 2015
.
British Car Auctions (BCA), which had owned the land and the Market since 1984, confirmed on Tuesday the 5th of May 2015 that the market would no longer take place due to a decline in trade.
Rumours of the market's imminent closure had been circulating via social media since January 2015. However, BCA had vehemently denied that there was any truth in them.
At the time, BCA even began making regular announcements over the market's PA, refuting rumours that it would close, which continued into the last few weeks.
Despite this, traders were told that the market had been cancelled with immediate effect on Tuesday morning,
Blackbushe Airport (IATA: BBS, ICAO: EGLK), in the civil parish of Yateley in the north-east corner of the county of Hampshire, England. It comprises an airfield - much reduced in size since its hey day, a British Car Auctions site, a kart track owned by Camberley Kart Club, and a small business park.
Blackbushe Sunday Market is held on the car auction site.
Blackbushe Aerodrome has a CAA Ordinary Licence (Number P693) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction, as authorised by the licensee (Blackbushe Airport Limited). The aerodrome is licensed for night use.
Royal Air Force
The airport started life in 1942 as RAF Hartford Bridge, and it was used by RAF squadrons throughout the remainder of Second World War for reconnaissance, defence and strike operations using Spitfires and Mosquitoes. It was also the home of the Free French Squadron (Lorraine).
A number of important people landed at the airport including:
King George VI
Queen Elizabeth
Supreme Allied Commander General Dwight D. Eisenhower
Field Marshal Montgomery
The RAF Station was closed on 15 November 1946.

SPEED AND SAFETY
Stirling Moss was at Blackbushe to see a British Dragsters team competing against the Americans. Dragsters sprint cars, costing up to 8,000 pounds, are designed to reach 200 miles an hour in just a quarter of a mile. ® The faster you go, the harder it is to stop. That was just one of the tests being carried out at the Road Research Laboratories, Crowthorne in Berkshire, to make driving safer. They deal with everything from the lay out and the surface of the road itself to the design of the vehicles which use it.
