The park is managed as a wildlife conservation area and habitat enhancement activities are ongoing throughout the park.

Blackie Spit is one of the best birding areas in Canada with almost 200 species of birds recorded in a calendar year. The sandbars are a favorite spot for Harbour Seals and their pups. Blackie Spit Park also has an off-leash dog area, swimming beach, picnic area, washrooms, natural area trails, and walking paths.
I did this flight just before the previously uploaded Crescent Beach flight. Blackie Spit is just a little Northeast of the beach area I flew over in the previous video. You can see the same pier if you look to the south.
The white sludge you see is actually ice, it was -3C. Although Boundary Bay is salt water, the Nicomekl River ends at Blackie Spit and the Serpentine River ends about another ½ mile to the North. Both of these rivers dump millions of gallons of fresh water into the bay.
As both a quad and an FPV rookie, I learned a lot from this flight but came away impressed with the quality of the video images and the way that all the gear worked. Practice, practice, practice!!!
This was flown with a QAV500 equipped with a GoPro Hero 3 on a Zenmuse gimbal.
