Built in 1894, the landmark Blackpool Tower houses a circus, a glass viewing platform, and the Tower Ballroom, where dancers twirl to the music of a Wurlitzer organ. Blackpool Illuminations is an annual light show along the Promenade.

Blackpool (listen) is a seaside resort on the Lancashire coast in North West England. The town is on the Irish Sea, between the Ribble and Wyre estuaries, 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Preston, 27 miles (43 km) north of Liverpool, 28 miles (45 km) northwest of Bolton and 40 miles (64 km) northwest of Manchester. It had an estimated population of 139,720 at the 2011 Census, making it the most populous town in Lancashire.Throughout the Middle Ages and Early Modern period, Blackpool was a coastal hamlet in Lancashire's Hundred of Amounderness, and remained such until the mid-18th century when it became fashionable in England to travel to the coast in the summer to improve well-being. In 1781, visitors attracted to Blackpool's 7-mile (11 km) sandy beach were able to use a new private road, built by Thomas Clifton and Sir Henry Hoghton. Stagecoaches began running to Blackpool from Manchester in the same year, and from Halifax in 1782. In the early 19th century, Henry Banks and his son-in-law John Cocker erected new buildings in Blackpool such that its population grew from less than 500 in 1801 to over 2,500 in 1851. St John's Church in Blackpool was consecrated in 1821.
Blackpool rose to prominence and as a major centre of tourism in England when a railway was built in the 1840s connecting it to the industrialised regions of Northern England. The railway made it much easier and cheaper for visitors to reach Blackpool, triggering an influx of settlers, such that in 1876 Blackpool was incorporated as a borough, governed by its own town council and aldermen. In 1881, Blackpool was a booming resort with a population of 14,000 and a promenade complete with piers, fortune-tellers, public houses, trams, donkey rides, fish-and-chip shops and theatres. By 1901 the population of Blackpool was 47,000, by which time its place was cemented as the archetypal British seaside resort. By 1951 it had grown to 147,000.
Shifts in tastes, combined with opportunities for Britons to travel overseas, affected Blackpool's status as a leading resort in the late 20th century. Nevertheless, Blackpool's urban fabric and economy remains relatively undiversified, and firmly rooted in the tourism sector, and the borough's seafront continues to attract millions of visitors every year. In addition to its grime music scene, Blackpool's major attractions and landmarks include Blackpool Tower, Blackpool Illuminations, the Pleasure Beach, Blackpool Zoo, Sandcastle Water Park, the Winter Gardens, and the UK's only surviving first-generation tramway.

Bling (Ground View) Pleasure Beach Blackpool England UK
Bling was a white knuckle thrill ride located within Pleasure Beach Blackpool in Lancashire, North West England.It's now in Germany's Skyline Park called Sky Jet.
The Star Shape ride was built by German company Zierer in 2004 and is currently only one of three of this type in the world. Situated at the far end of the park adjacent to Burger King. It is the parks fourth tallest ride after the Pepsi Max Big One, Ice Blast and Opened June 1, 2004 Closed end of season 2011.

The Star Shape's name is derived from its gondola arms mounted in a star-shaped pattern with five seats each. These arms turn in circles at the upper end of a 30 meter long main mast. When the gondolas come at 30 meters height to a halt, the stars seem to be within one's grasp. From up here, passengers are able to have a birds eye view of the entire park and the surrounding landscape. But this moment of repose is only short-lived. As soon as the gondola cross has rotated its full cycle at this dizzying height, the main mast nosedives while rotating around its own axis.
Yet there is more to come. The single gondola arms also turn at an angle of 360 degrees while three different rotational movements spin the passengers around with their legs dangling freely. Riders will experience a great high from this enormous adrenaline rush.
A three times redundant safety restraint system returns your passengers safe and sound to home position. Their heads will still be spinning when they put their feet back on the ground. Simply watching makes you giddy and quickens your pulse.
River Caves (POV) Pleasure Beach Blackpool England UK

The most well known River Caves ride is the 'River Caves' at Pleasure Beach, Blackpool installed at the park in 1905. Before its removal in 2007, there was a similar one at Pleasureland, Southport which dated back to 1922 (this amusement park has now closed). Alton Towers in Staffordshire contained a River Caves style ride - Around the world in 80 days displaying scenes of different world cultures, these original scenes and props were removed in 1993 and the whole attraction was rebuilt and rethemed in 1994 as Toyland Tours, this attraction was rethemed once more and opened as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: The Ride in 2006 season.
Noah's Ark (POV) Pleasure Beach Blackpool UK
Complete walk through pov (05/07/07), does have some dark bits not picked up by my camera too well,have fun. A rocking and rolling walk through fun experience and one of the few remaining Noah's Ark rides in the world today. Originally built in 1921 and still powered by the original rocking mechanism.
This ride has been closed since November 2008. As of 2010, it does not look like the attraction will reopen as the stairs and entrance kiosk have been removed. It is currently standing, as a tribute to the attraction (SBNO).This is why I'm posting this old video of my experience,hopefully it will re-open if not there will only be one left operational in the world : ( I have re-uploaded this video as I have managed to get some detail from the dark parts by using a luma corrector,I think this is as good as it will get as much of the detail is simply not there.Shows how digital cameras have come on in the last few years.Wish I could get back inside and film it again :(

Here we go with another mesmo Pov (July 2010) of The Ghost Train in Pleasure Beach Blackpool.Really pleased with this video the whole experience is caught well with my new camera.Some new parts for this year! Love the train 04:04 it also blows air at you when you get near the light.Sad to say the reaper,spider and iron maiden have gone,that was my favourite part : ( Now there is nearly an empty space 03:14 with a skeleton that shakes when you go past......pathetic,but maybe this part is not finished ? The exorcist girl 03:46 is great and makes the whole ride better,nice one.

Tango Ice Blast (formerly Ice Blast and PlayStation: The Ride!), is a drop tower ride located at Pleasure Beach Blackpool in Blackpool, England. It is named after the drink of the same name.
Prior to 1997, Blackpool Pleasure Beach decided to build a Launched Freefall ride in the park. When Sony approached the park as a sponsor for the ride, it was decided that the ride would tie in with the current success from the marketing of Sony PlayStation products. Shortly after being built, the tower was painted white, with the interior structure painted red and the platform grey, black and amber, the colours associated with PlayStation. Banners advertising PlayStation were placed on the car and the top of the tower also sported the such logo. Naturally, the ride was named PlayStation: The Ride. The ride opened in the Pleasure Beach in 1997, it was the first Tower ride in the UK. In 2002, the ride was renamed Ice Blast following a new sponsor and in 2004 was named Tango Ice Blast, in conjunction with the drink of the same name. The ride is notably similar to the Lucozade Space Shot that was located in Southport Pleasureland. The ride is the tallest and fastest drop tower ride in the United Kingdom.
