Blacks of Kinsale Black IPA - Irish PA Reviews 2/3
Blacks of Kinsale's Black IPA is a milder version of the Black IPA's we get in the US. It was given to us as one of Ireland's best beers, but do you agree?

Kinsale Ireland street feast food festival and all Ireland chowder competition Irish Food (2019)
Kinsale is known as the gourmet capital of Ireland and it really lived up to this reputation this weekend in this beautiful and colorful Irish town by the sea on the south coast of Ireland. A lot of the Kinsale good food circle restaurants turned out some delicious low cost street food on every corner of the town on the saturday for this Irish food festival, as well as a craft beer festival hosted in the marquee by Blacks brewery Kinsale. The next day in the marquee was a highly competitive Chowder competition with entrants from all corners of Ireland like Antrim, Galway, Donegal as well as Cork and Kerry and Kinsale itself. This really was a fabulous event that is a great tourist attraction and really should be repeated all over the country during summer festivals. Chowder could be become the national dish that is very tasty and can be endlessly inventive.

Style: Black IPA
Kinsale, Ireland
Serve in Shaker, Tulip
A unique beer that ambushes your senses, it pours dark with a creamy beige head but tastes light and hoppy! Complex hoppy fruity flavours and aromas mixed with roasty bitter chocolate and coffee tones. Low carbonation for a smooth stout like finish. Dressed in black, charged with hops and ready to rock.
Black IPA
An emerging beer style roughly defined as a beer with IPA-level hopping relatively high alcohol and a distinct toasty dark malt character. Typically lacks the roastiness and body of a strong stout and is hoppier than a strong porter. Expressive dry-hopping is common. Also called India Dark Ale, India Black Ale, Cascadian Dark Ale, Dark IPA and sometimes India Brown Ale.

Beoir Collaboration Brew At Black's Brewery - Full Brewday
When Black's Kinsale Craft Brewery launched a crowd funding initiative on the Indiegogo platform it immediately captured the interest of Beoir members. Sam even adjusted the offer listing to allow those who just wanted to buy the exclusive beers he has planned.
But Beoir Chairman Reuben Gray noticed an opportunity for something bigger: at the bottom of the listings was the offer of a personalised batch of beer on the Kinsale pilot system: 200 bottles with a price tag of €1,000. Perhaps 20 of us could club together and commission a unique Beoir brew? It took just eight days to collect the necessary number of pledges, with some late joiners just missing the final places. Could we do it again?
A second round was opened and at this point Sam himself stepped in to sweeten the deal, offering a brew on his full-size brewkit and doubling the beer allocation for each pledger. This round took less than a week to fill up and on Sunday 8th September at the Irish Craft Beer and Cider Festival, Reuben presented Sam and Maudeline with a cheque for €2,000.
The beer was due to be brewed in early 2014 and the part of the batch not allocated to pledgers will be available to the public in a strictly limited edition (though the launch party has dibs on at least some of it). We're left with just one important question: what shall we brew?
The answer, a big Double IPA.
We brewed the beer on March 8th, 6 months after presenting the cheque.

Insiders Experience: Ireland
Join us in March of 2019 as we discover all we can take in about this very magical place. We will be in the country for Saint Patrick’s Day – the most Irish of all of the days in the year.
The tour will begin and end in Dublin. Along the way, we will discover that there is much more to drink in this land than dry Irish stouts and delicious whiskeys. The country is producing some amazing food and drink, and we will explore many different angles of this transformation.
Based on the interest of our group trips out of the country, we have worked with our friends at Independent Ireland to put together a most incredible beercation experience – a week in the cities and countryside of Ireland during the week surrounding Saint Patrick’s Day!
Our tour group will be led by Ireland’s native son, Evan McElligott, who is a Certified Travel Associate and has organized and led many a group tour back to his homeland.
The trip is designed to bring us to both well-known locales and out-of-the-way villages to live as the Irish do—at least for the week.
Here are just some of the incredible locations we will visit during our week-long tour:
- Experience Saint Patrick’s Day in Ireland!
- Guinness Storehouse, St. James Gate, and Gravity Bar.
- Jameson Distillery in Midleton.
- Cliffs of Moher.
- The Burren region.
- Drive along scenic and historic Slea Head.
- In-depth experiences at CANVAS Brewery, West Kerry Brewery, Blacks brewery and distillery, Dingle Distillery, and more!
- Nights to explore Limerick, Dingle, Cork, and Dublin.
- Days to explore Kinsale, Kilkenny, and Killarney.
- And much more!

Harris Family Brewery on why they are the 1st black brewery in PA
Shaun Harris registered Harris Family Brewery as a business on January 2, 2014. He had been home-brewing since 2013, learning from YouTube videos. But when he went to make it official, he said he was shocked to find no other African-American beermakers across the state had come before him.
A Taste of Ireland Episode 7 West Mayo Brewery a wild atlantic way craft beer in Ireland
atasteof-ireland.com went to visit Oileán Éadaigh West Mayo Brewery in 2014. We met the founders Iain and Caroline Price in the rural parish of Islandeady, situated between Westport and Castlebar, in County Mayo on their working farm.
The brewery was inspired by their love for craft beer and the desire to provide consumers in County Mayo with a greater choice of quality ales. It was also a means to make the most of their small holding by a farm diversification project that was enjoyable, environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Caroline is originally from Islandeady and has always been involved with farming. They have cattle as well as chickens, and occasionally pigs. Caroline also keeps bees. She has worked for several organisations in the UK, mainly in I.T., and looks after the business side of the brewery in addition to line cleaning duties and assisting in deliveries!
Iain is the brewer. He trained with Brewlab at the University of Sunderland beginning in 2009 and is also a member of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling, completing his IBD Diploma in Brewing (Dipl.Brew) in 2011.
