UQ BIOL3016 Field Trip to Idalia National Park 2015! | JustBecause
At Idalia, there is no reception, limited electricity and no civilisation for 2 hours in any direction, and the nights spent in a tent drop to -4 degrees Celsius. The national park lies over 800km West of the eastern coast of Australia, which is marked by the extreme temperature fluctuations and bone dry conditions. Yet even here we find an extraordinary diversity of life, including 7 species of kangaroo and wallaby. There is nothing quite like the feeling of being exposed to a place so barren; it is the perfect location to feel at one with nature, away from the busy human life that we are faced with on a daily basis. Enjoy this video of a week long expedition led by the University of Queensland (UQ) into the heart of the Australian outback, where our research is helping to conserve the unique vegetation found in the region, as well as two species of wallaby (one of which is the yellow-footed rock wallaby featured in the video).
