Visiting Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta Canada
Waterton is quiet, uncrowded National Park. The Perfect place to view spectacular scenery, wildlife and enjoy outstanding recreational opportunities. Discover nature at its best... Year Round!...
A rare gem, Waterton Lakes National Park is tucked into the southwestern corner of the province of Alberta, Canada. The majestic Rocky Mountains rise suddenly out of the rolling prairies. Camping in Waterton Lakes National Park 2016 | Journey Alberta
My friend Jesse and I travel to Waterton Lakes National Park to camp at the Crandell Mountain Campground for 2 nights. While in the park we check out Red Rock Canyon, Cameron Falls, The Prince of Wales Hotel, The Waterton Village, and do the Bear's Hump Hike. It's an incredible place to experience nature, and I always see bears in the wild whenever I'm in Waterton as well!

Akamina Lake
Akamina Lake trailhead is located off the parking lot at Cameron Lake in Waterton Lakes National Park. This short .3 mile hike is level and easy for the entire family. It wanders through the forest and pops out into the quaint Akamina Lake that has a little viewing platform. This lake looks like it would be a great little lake to see moose and waterfowl. (I only saw the latter)

Hiking in bear country: Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park
outdoortravelchannel.tv - Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park provides a peaceful home for species such as grizzly bears (Ursus arctos) and black bears (Ursus americanus), and it offers wonderful hiking opportunities for humans, for example, the hike to Avalanche Lake, featured in this video.
When hiking in bear country such as this,
- make noise (call out, clap, sing) to avoid surprising bears
- avoid hiking alone
- carry bear spray (and know how to use it)
- never approach a bear
- know the difference between grizzly bears and black bears and how to respond to each
For information on these parks, visit and
Also check out Glacier National Park's information on proper visitor behaviour in bear country:
The manager at Glacier Guides Lodge ( in West Glacier was kind enough to loan us bear spray during our stay, and the nearby Glacier Guides office sold us the same spray for a very reasonable price ($27) when we moved on.

The Marquis Hole
A video taken at the Marquis Hole, a deep bend in the river connecting Lower Waterton Lake to Middle Waterton Lake. The water here is unnaturally warm compared to other lakes and streams in the park and is a great place for swimming.
GoPro HD Hero mountain biking
I went mountain biking in waterton lakes national park and it was a really great trail. I did more trails but my gopro died out of battery which made me really mad that I didn't get all the other trails that I did. It wasn't a hard trail but it is really fun.
