Sand Martins at Blashford Lakes
Sand Martins on 'the dead twig' at the man-made nesting-bank in front of the Goosander Hide at Blashford Lakes Wildlife Reserve, Ringwood, Hampshire, England, June 2011. These are mainly juvenile Sand Martins, some of which have only just fledged from their nesting holes and perch on the twig to clean off the sand and preen.

Sand Martins at Blashford Lakes
Sand Martins on the twigs and flying around the man-made nesting-bank in front of the Goosander Hide at Blashford Lakes Wildlife Reserve, Ringwood, Hampshire, England, June 2011. The face of part of the bank can be seen at left when zooming out, and it runs right in front of and below the hide, giving wonderful views of the martins as they fly around.
Near the end you can hear their alarm calls which sends them all up and away into the comparative safety of the sky where predators like Sparrowhawk and Hobby are less able to swoop in and take them by surprise.

Bittern at Blashford Lakes
Bittern in front of Ivy North Hide at Blashford Lakes Wildlife Reserve, Ringwood, Hampshire, England, March 2012. The Bittern is looking for fish amongst the patchy reedbed at evening time on an overcast day.
Video shot through the front non-opening dark-tinted one-way windows - the birds cannot see movement of people in the hide so are less likely to be frightened away, though the windows are not so good to photograph through.... Video a bit shaky as my arms were still a bit pumped from holding other camera with big lens....

Some finches at Blashford Lakes Woodland Hide - 17th January 2011
This is a fairly recent video. Though it's about a month old, I decided to save this one to upload on this channel.
This is when I went to Blashford Lakes up in Ringwood, England and went to the woodland hide to do some bird watching. There were a lot of finches around so I thought I get some footage of it. The birds you will be seeing in this video and also are in the finch family are:
Goldfinch
Chaffinch
Siskin
Brambling
Lesser Redpoll
