Blasted Church Vineyards - Wine Harvest - Okanagan Falls Winery
Blasted Church Vineyards began their annual harvest in October. Harvesting wine grapes is an essential step of winemaking. The decision to begin harvesting is dependant on the ripeness, levels of sugar, acidity, tannin and even the weather.
With just a pair of sharp shears and a basket, here at Blasted Church we hand pick our wine grapes, ensuring quality, healthy bunches are chosen. While manual harvesting is more taxing, we still prefer this method to produce our wines.
The wine grapes are then sent up to be sorted and then crushed. Here, the skin is broken exposing the juice and pulp but without crushing stems and seeds. Once crushing and destemming has been completed, the fermentation processes begins.

Dirty Laundry Vineyard - Summerland, British Columbia
Above Okanagan Lake and the original Summerland town site, you will find one of the most interesting and beautiful wineries in all of British Columbia. With the historic Kettle Valley Steam Railroad chugging through the vineyard coupled with lake & mountain vistas, our visitor
experience is rivaled only by the quality of our award-winning wines.
Dirty Laundry Vineyard is situated on a sun-drenched plateau that enjoys an ideal micro-climate for growing exceptional grapes and has some of the oldest vinifera vines in the Okanagan Valley. From these grapes we’ve created wines that are being recognized throughout Canada and the world. We’ve earned medals and accolades in San Francisco, London & the Pacific Rim including “Best of Varietal” awards for both our whites and reds.
Our location’s unique history as a turn of the century Chinese laundry and brothel is key to our cheeky adult theme and the locals rate us as the #1 wine tasting destination in the South Okanagan two years running. Dirty Laundry is definitely a “must see” winery destination in the Okanagan Valley.

Bellangelo - Harvest & Crush 2013 - Riesling - Premium Finger Lakes Wine
On October 10, 2013, Bellangelo harvested Riesling from the Gibson Vineyard site, located on the west side of Seneca Lake. This premium vineyard grows spectacular Finger Lakes Riesling and is quickly earning its reputation as Bellangelo's 2012 Gibson Vineyard Riesling has gained the awareness of the public. At the end of the day, only one solitary row of unharvested fruit remained, from which Bellangelo will produce its late harvest Riesling.

Okanagan Valley Wine Tasting Tour - 2013 October
Wine tasting in the Okanagan Valley region of BC Canada is a must do activity in the fall. This year Karen & I travelled with Bill and Sandra Owens, Wayne and Sandra Sinclair into the heart of wine country to enjoy several estate wines. It took us three days to cover parts of Bottle Neck Drive near Summerland, the estate wineries along the Naramata Bench close to Penticton, then south onto Eastside rd. along Skaha Lake. The wineries were super easy to find. Staff especially friendly this time of year. However we encountered only one hick up at Black Widow Winery. Their staff were not at their best. The wine server was unfriendly and not very helpful. Not recommended by us to go there again. Now we know why the Okanagan Valley is known as a true Travel Destination. Here is a list of the wineries that we visited, Dirty Laundry wines, Heaven's Gate Estate Winery, Sonora, Saxon Estate winery, Sumac Wines, Therapy Vineyards,Tinhorn Creek Vineyards, Blasted Church Winery, See Ya Later Vineyard, Jackson Triggs. All these wineries have the VQA designation and have interesting Wine Tasting rooms. Join us for our Okanagan Valley Wine Tasting Tour.
