Remembering Brother Dutton
A Saint from Vermont?
Is Brother Dutton, born in Stowe in 1843, worthy of consideration for sainthood by virtue of his 45 years of service to the leper colony on Molokai? Bishop Larry Silva of Hawaii has asked a team to evaluate Brother Dutton’s service.
Monsignor Peter Routhier, pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church (BSC) in Stowe, has been invited to be a keynote speaker in Honolulu, Hawaii at the 2nd Annual Damien and Marianne Catholic Conference (dmcc.org), October 5 to 7. St. Damien and St. Marianne also served the leper colony. One of the conference objectives is to investigate Brother Dutton’s worthiness to be the third saint of Molokai.
Blessed Sacrament Church was built in 1949 on the farm where Brother Dutton was born. His family soon after moved to Wisconsin. The Stowe church, however, was dedicated to Brother Dutton because of his extraordinary service to the ‘least of God’s people’. French artist, Andre Girard, painted twelve panels on the sides of the church that tell the story of the leper colony and Father Damien, Brother Dutton and Sister Marianne Cope serving on Molokai. The artwork is the connection between these servants of Molokai and several generations of worshipers at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Monsignor Routhier will show a short film at the conference, “Remembering Brother Dutton” that captures the essence of Brother Dutton’s service through the artwork on the church exterior. Heath Eiden, Stowe Media Group created the video. The viewer is led to Brother Dutton’s service through Girard’s art by Matt Strong, the Stowe craftsman who recently completed the restoration of the twelve panels; and by Josephine Belloso, a Girard student, who did the restoration 30 years ago. The message is very simple – We are all here to serve our neighbor; and some serve with saint-worthy distinction.

A Traveling Wayne: Vermont
Accidentally drove through Vermont and into New Hampshire, had to turn around. I'm sorry this video is very short, Vermont was wonderful, but like 1/3 of the state is forest and there really isn't much else to do there. I stayed at Grout Pond for 4 days and it was amazing, if you ever find yourself in the white mountain national forest then definitely look it up. Photobucket:

Just a few hours from the hustle and bustle of manila lies the idyllic island of Mindoro, on the northern end can be found puerto galera a wild life heaven, with tropical adventures to suit all tastes.
The natural world is here in abundance, its no wonder why it is listed on the national heritage list of WWF,

This coastal town is well known among tourists for its numerous pocket beaches and many snorkeling and Scuba diving spots. The area was designated a Man and Biosphere Reserve of UNESCO in 1973 and has some of the most diverse coral reef diving in Asia. The marine environment has benefited in recent years from the influx of tourist dollars. This has seen a huge reduction in the number of fishermen in the area, as they gain higher revenue from tourists.
Puerto Galera is a listed by the Club of the Most Beautiful Bays of the World, and is the only bay in the Philippines to be listed there.
Among the famous beaches in Puerto Galera are Sabang Beach and White Beach, which have an active nightlife with numerous bars and restaurants. Both beaches also have an array of first-class and economy-class accommodations.
Sabang beach is the main destination for foreign tourists, while White Beach remains popular with local travelers.Big La Laguna Beach and Small La Laguna Beach are considered part of Sabang with resorts lining the beaches. Big La Laguna Beach is popular for local swimmers and snorkelers. Since 2001 White beach has seen uncontrolled development. New restaurants and places to stay are rapidly encroaching on the beach itself and little remains of the once charming beach. Puerto Galera town is a pleasant but sleepy Philippine town with few attractions. It has a large central catholic church and a Pier area, with a selection of bistros and cafes.

A View of Trade and Craftsmanship: The Window of St Charles Catholic Church
Built in 1885, the Saint Charles Catholic Church in Bellow Falls VT has stood as a Sentinel for decades. Sitting on one of the highest points, it's watchful eye - a stained glass masterpiece - has seen all seasons unshielded. And so, time weathering the strongest of sentries, it's glass started to crumble as its wooden frame cracked and rotted. Through the historic reconstruction that ensued - the rebuilding of the great frame, the restoring of the stained glass - we are given a view into immense Craftsmanship of Bensonwood Homes and Associated Crafts / Willet Hauser.
