November Views of the St Lawrence River from Blockhouse Island (Brockville, ON)
From birds and boats to granite islands, Blockhouse Island in Brockville has much to offer. While it was late in the navigation season, I was able to spot one boat moving eastward on the St. Lawrence River. Ducks and geese can usually be spotted from Blockhouse Island, such as our lone duck at the end of the video. As well, I was able to get an excellent view of the east end of the world-famous Thousand Islands, as well as New York State across the river. The hamlet shown just behind the passing vessel early in the video is Brockville's neighbour to the south, Morristown, NY.
This video was shot in November, 2014.
Driving around Brockville, Ontario - Canada
Brockville, formerly Elizabethtown, is a city in Eastern Ontario, Canada in the Thousand Islands region. Although it is the seat of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, it is politically independent of the county. It is included with Leeds and Grenville for census purposes only.
Known as the City of the 1000 Islands, Brockville is located on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River, about halfway between Kingston to the west and Cornwall to the east. It is 115 km (71 mi) south of the national capital Ottawa.
The city faces Morristown, New York, which is located on the other side of the river. It is one of Ontario's oldest communities first established by Euro-Canadians and is named after the British general Sir Isaac Brock.
The city notably features the Brockville Tunnel, Canada's first railway tunnel, finished in December 1860, and closed in 1970. It was acquired by the City of Brockville in 1982, and the tunnel reopened in August 2017 as an LED illuminated pedestrian tunnel with music. Alongside the Fulford Place and the Aquatarium, it has since become one of the most famous tourist attractions in the city, and even all of Ontario.

Winter Scenes Along the St Lawrence (Brockville and Prescott/Ogdensburg - February 2015)
It was a freezing, blustery mid-February afternoon when this video was shot. Windchills of between -25 and -30 were felt in many locations in Eastern Ontario during this particular afternoon. The first set of clips, up to the 1 minute and 48 second mark, were shot at Sandra S. Lawn Harbour in Prescott, Ontario. These scenes include some views of Ogdensburg, New York. The river was not completely frozen over at Prescott, though the rest of the clips show a completely frozen St. Lawrence from Brockville's Blockhouse Island. Blowing snow could be found at both locations, as a generous amount had fallen during the previous week.

Brockville, My River City Home, City of the 1000 Islands, Ontario, Canada
Music video depicting the beauty of the 1000 Islands and the City of the Thousand Islands, Brockville, Ontario, Canada. Also, the 175th anniversary of Brockville, held on July 1st 2007. The song My River City Home was written by Peter C. Liardi for the celebration. Sung beautifully by Marguerite Thorne and orchestrated by Greg Geeves, the song reminds us that, throughout history, when people work together for the greater good our community blossoms.

As we marched down to Fennario,
As we marched down to Fennario,
Our captain fell in love with a lady like a dove.
They call her by name pretty Peggy-o.
What will your mother think pretty Peggy-o?
What will your mother think pretty Peggy-o?
What will your mother think when she hears the guineas clink,
The soldiers all marchin' before you-o?
In a carriage you will ride, pretty Peggy-o.
In a carriage you will ride, pretty Peggy-o.
In a carriage you will ride with your true love by your side,
As fair as any maiden in the are-o.
Come skippin' down the stair, pretty Peggy-o.
Come skippin' down the stair, pretty Peggy-o.
image:
Come skippin' down the stair combin' back your yellow hair,
And bid farewell to sweet William-o.
Sweet William is dead, pretty Peggy-o.
Sweet William is dead, pretty Peggy-o.
Sweet William is dead, and he died for a maid,
The fairest maid in the are-o.

1000 Islands
The 1000 Islands an enchanting place, a beautiful place to spend some of your summer vacation time. My friend photographer Ian Coristine talked me into doing just that and invited me to see it aboard the tall ship Fair Jeanne. What an experience, what a site. I even managed a few moments in the crow's nest. Watch and enjoy and consider a visit of your own.
