Gender day at the Bloomfield Science Museum Jerusalem
Yes, You Can! - The International Women's Day 2011 at Bloomfield Science Museum Jerusalem
120 boys and girls (grades 9 and 10) took part in speed-dating sessions with 20 young female scientists. The scientists met with small groups of these students to discuss the challenges of their careers and described their actual work in genetics, brain research, mathematics, biophysics, computers, and other fields.
The event concluded with a provocative discussion: Why So Few? Why are far fewer women than men attracted to science and technology and How can we change this situation?
Throughout the event the students were invited to respond to three provocative statements about women in science at a ballot box named What's Your Opinion?. They had to choose between Agree, Don't care, and Disagree. They voted by placing beads (green for female and yellow for male) in the appropriate place. The box was opened at the End of the morning activity, revealing the participants' reactions to the provocative, stereotypical statements.

The LookUp project @ the Bloomfield Science Museum, Jerusalem
There is a wonderful sense of magic whenever our hands silhouette suddenly take the form of a barking dog, a gliding bird or an adorable bunny rabbit rubbing its nose.
However, that enchanting animated experience is quickly lost when our hands lose formation and return to their mundane roles.
The project attempts to briefly extend the short life of a silhouette bird.
We do so by having the silhouette morph into a projected image of a bird that with a happy chirp, suddenly gains life and joins a flock of birds flying on the virtual sky of the room's ceiling.
participants actively introduce more and more silhouette that make the space come alive.

Experience the Beauty at the Israel Museum
The Israel Museum in Jerusalem recently re-opened after an extensive, three-year redesign of its collections and its 20-acre campus.
By Harvey Stein (Israel MFA)
Since its start in 1965, the Israel Museum has strived to point up the strong connections between its three main wings: Archeology, fine art and Jewish art and life.
Museum director James S. Snyder says that over the last three years... we have accomplished here a transformative change to the museum, which we hope has actually brought out the potential of its original vision.
Asked what makes the Israel Museum unique, Snyder responds that there's something special about coming here, to see not just the culture of the region, from the beginning of time until today, but the rest of world culture, all synthesized together within a place which is really meant to be about intercultural connections.
The renovation has doubled the museum's gallery space, which now exhibits about 8,000 objects out of its collection of half a million. The new design of the galleries takes the visitor on a journey through time, starting with archeology and pre-history, a billion and a half years ago, and moving all the way to contemporary art. The works of masters of modern art are cheek by jowl with works of Israeli artists, whom Snyder says have now managed to disconnect themselves from the immediacy of their history and become quite active on the international landscape.
Snyder says that it is most important to him that, both inside and outside the museum, his visitors experience the power of beauty.
Jerusalem's Mini Maker Faire
On May 24-25, 2015, Jerusalem’s Bloomfield Science Museum hosted its third Mini Maker Faire in two days of creativity, inventions, technology, music and fun - part of a worldwide program aimed at inspiring inventiveness among people young and old.
The Maker Movement in Israel is steadily growing. Today it numbers several hundred creative people who specialize in thinking outside the box and inventing wonderful, funny, surprising creations displayed at the Faire.
Watch this cool celebration of creativity and innovation filmed at last year's event, the second Mini Maker Faire.
“How can we inspire young people to think science with their hands, to think technology with their hands?” asks Maya Halevy, museum director. One of the participants made a flying dinosaur. Another connected pressure sensors to plates and cups to make a drum set. See what other magic happened at the Mini Maker Faire.

Sensory tour at the Science Museum of Israel in Jerusalem
Explore science teacher education program in elementary science teaching, Herzog-Lifshitz College, nine years. Tour we watched, experienced, learned, we carried out observations and construction of equipment for the senses. We have created a brass, wind instruments experienced in playing pipes, we have been introduced to the idea of the illusions of the senses such as the sense of sight , watched the template sound waves and experienced the power of those changing pressures and create a flame dancing in tandem with the ability to break glass.
