my irish roads - PUFFING HOLE on INISHMORE
The Puffing Holes (Na Poill Seideáin) - two large, circular holes about 100 meters from the cliff edge, where the sea water will puff up through frequently as waves crash into a cave beneath the cliffs.

Dun Aengus 300ft vertical drop into the Atlantic ocean!
Dun Aengus fort on the Aran Islands which are on the west coast of Ireland.
This is a 300 foot vertical drop into the Atlantic ocean. There's no railing or any safety things of any kind... the wind was blowing towards the cliff at about 30+ miles an hour so I felt a little safer.

Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2012 -- Pre Event Clip -- Ireland / Inis Mór
From an almost round volcanic islet on the Azores to a near-perfect rectangular blowhole in Ireland -- the location for the fourth stop of the World Series is laden with myth as much as it is out of the ordinary. A sea serpent is said to make its presence felt with the help of screeching, stormy winds. The legendary Serpent's Lair on Ireland's Aran Islands provides the perfect pool for the world's cliff diving elite at the halfway stage. Three different winners in as many competitions make the 2012 World Series the closest to date.

Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2014 -- Event Clip -- Ireland, Inis Mór
It was the luck of the Irish that provided the rectangular-shaped natural pool with bright sunshine on both competition days and it was a Brit who accomplished a mission: settling old scores at the infamous 'blowhole' and by hitting the hardest dive in his programme for 8.5s. He was not only awarded the day's highest score for a single dive (158.10pts) but was crowned the winner of the season's third competition with a total of 488.40pts. Joining the 30-year-old on the podium was Steven LoBue (475.40pts), who jumped from the 'lucky loser' spot after three rounds into second place. The 2013 rookie of the year, 24-year-old Jonathan Paredes (475.20pts), leading the pack going into the final took the third place available on the podium, despite having the lowest Degree of Difficulty.

Cliffs Off Inis Meain
A video of the waves crashing on the cliffs of Inis Meain, one of the Aran Islands. The wind was blowing hard so it's a bit wobbly and I had to cut out the sound since it was horrible.

Environmental Studies 113-309 Final: Inis Mór by Erik Kramer
lyrics:
Well I was born four thousand miles away from home
And I never thought that I would find a place to rest my soul
The wind is blowing as the grass grows
Singing Hallelujah in the fire's glow
Well I found what I've been looking for
On the island of Inis Mór
Standing there in silence on the receding shore
I know for sure I've never felt this way before
The wind is blowing as the grass grows
Singing Hallelujah in the fire's glow
Well I found what I've been looking for
On the island of Inis Mór
And suddenly some thoughts come, some thoughts that pierce my heart
This land I love, this land I cherish; we're tearing it apart
The green and grey that roams and runs for miles
Like us, may only be here for a short while
But I found what I've been looking for
On the island of Inis Mór
the line Singing Hallelujah in the fire's glow refers to our celebration of St. John's Eve on the island, that can be seen here:
