The Snowy Mountains Scheme brought together over 100,000 people from more than 30 different countries, including Australia, to work on what is recognised as one of the greatest engineering projects in the world.
In the days when the great Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Scheme was taking shape as one of the world's great engineering feats, an Irishman, Ulick O'Boyle who was a concrete worker on the Scheme, set down in song his impressions of the places, the people and the work that was being done. To perform the songs he had written, he formed a singing group from among his fellow workers.

Blowering Dam is located on the Tumut River approximately 13km south of the town of Tumut, NSW. The dam was constructed between 1964 and 1968 to store water for irrigation, mainly in the Murrumbidgee and Coleambally
Irrigation Areas. Blowering Dam is owned and operated by State Water
Corporation, and is the final dam in the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme.
State Water Corporation upgraded the dam in 2010 to improve its capacity to handle extreme large floods in line with modern national and international safety standards.
This video presents the history of Blowering Dam including various phases of investigation, which commenced in 1902, and upgrade works undertaken between the period of 2009 and 2010.
It also presents the world record for the fastest man on water set by Ken Warby in his boat Spirit of Australia on the 8th October 1978.

Murray Cod Fishing Blowering Dam Trolling With Peter Trouti Thompson

Blowering Dam located in NSW Australia near the town of Tumut has only just recently been opened to all year round fishing for Murray Cod, previously it was closed to Murray Cod fishing in the Spring months.Being Springtime Peter was keen to take advantage of these new regulations and asked me along to have a crack at catching the ever elusive 100cm Murray Cod as Blowering Dam is renowned for it's huge Murray Cod.
