Ocean Scene Blue Funnel Cruises
Ocean Scene Blue Funnel Cruises on a harbour tour of southampton docks.
MSC Opera,Crown Princess,Ventura,Celebrity Eclipse,QM2 depart Southampton 25/5/13.
There were five cruise ships in port today at Southampton MSC Opera,Crown Princess,Ventura,Celebrity Eclipse,Queen Mary 2. There was the Blue Funnel Cruises small boat Ocean Scene which was viewing the departures which you will see in this video.
The first ship to depart was MSC Cruises, MSC Opera which arrived earlier in the day from Oslo and was in 104 berth which is near to Mayflower Cruise Terminal. She made her departure from the dockside at 16:03pm and passed Crown Princess who was in Mayflower Cruise Terminal.
She made her way to the upper swinging ground to swing round and head back past her berth and passing Celebrity Eclipse where MSC Opera and Eclipse had a horn battle before finally passing Queen Mary 2 and down Southampton Water to her next port of call which was Amsterdam.
Next departure was Princess Cruises, Crown Princess she arrived earlier in the day from Gibraltar and was in Mayflower Cruise Terminal, She departed nearly half an hour later as planned at 16:28pm but I did not see her swing around but watched her pass by Town Quay where I was filming from and then pass by Queen Mary 2 then down Southampton Water on towards her next port of call which was La Corunna.
She was then followed by P&O'S, Ventura which arrived earlier in the day from Stavanger and was berthed in Ocean Cruise Terminal. Where she later departed from at 16:45pm which was 15 minutes later as planned after having to let the Crown Princess pass by first. As Ventura made her departure she then passed by Queen Mary 2 and down Southampton Water towards her next port of call which was Zeebrugge.
After Ventura was Celebrity X Cruises, Celebrity Eclipse which arrived earlier in the day from Lisbon and was berthed in City Cruise Terminal where she departed from at 17:34pm her departure was 65 minutes later as planned and left for her next port of call being Zeebrugge with her usual blast on her horns before passing Town Quay and Queen Mary 2 then headed down Southampton Water.
And the last ship to depart was at last Cunards, Queen Mary 2 she was in the QEll Cruise Terminal and arrived earlier in the day from Hamburg. Her original departure was planned for 16:30pm but was changed to 18:30pm but she actually left her berth at 18:41pm with some assistance from the tug Svitzer Sarah, QM2 had to let the cargo ship Autostar pass her first before she could leave then gave a rather feeble attempt at blowing her horn but maybe because I was hearing it from the stern plus the wind was blowing a bit too, She then headed down Southampton Water with her next port of call being New York.

Blue Funnel and beyond.
Blue Funnel and Uglands / UECC. All the ships I have sailed on during my 40+ years at sea, working for just two companies. They were :
1). Alfred Holt & Co. (the Blue Funnel Line) which, after combining with Glen Line and Elder Dempster Line, became Ocean Fleets. Mainly cargo ships, but including the passenger ship Centaur.
2). Ugland Auto Liners which became United European Car Carriers (U.E.C.C.). All vessels were car carriers. Best viewed Full Screen.

P&O ORIENT LINES 1965 TRAVEL AGENT BRIEFING FILM SHOWCASE '65 CRUISE SHIPS 52354
Showcase ’65 is a short marketing film from P&O Orient Lines made for travel agencies to update them on what is in the 1965 sales kit in an effort to continue growing the sea travel business. The film opens with shots of a cruise ship at sea and people walking through a city. A man walks into a travel agency and looks at brochures for sea-travel vacation voyages (01:26). The film then shows the handbook for P & O’s 1965 cruises. George Turner, vice president for marketing, speaks to the camera from his office about the growing demand for sea travel (02:15). He shows a map with several routes for around-the-world cruises, as well as other Pacific and Atlantic routes. The man who visited the travel agency now looks at a sea-travel magazine from the sales kit while sitting at his desk in his study (07:12). The film shows several different marketing displays for P & O that travel agents can put in store windows, and then the film goes through the different brochures (or “folders”) found in the marketing kit (08:15). These include the “Europe, Around the World, and Caribbean” vacation voyage folder, the P & O sailing schedule booklet, the passenger fares folder (11:24), a pictorial booklet on the cruise ships—featuring the Oriana, Orsova, and Oronsay, a brochure written by travel columnist Stanton Delaplane (13:35), a sailing schedule in Japanese and one in Chinese, and a copy of The Log, a publication for travel agencies (15:41). The film then shows a travel catalog for package tours. The film wraps up by showing the full 1965 sales kit on display, then going back to the customer as he packs his suitcase and walks out onto a balcony overlooking a harbor with a P & O cruise ship anchored in it.
P&O Cruises is a British cruise line based at Carnival House in Southampton, England, operated by Carnival UK and owned by Carnival Corporation & plc. Originally a constituent of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, P&O Cruises can claim to be the oldest cruise line in the world, its predecessor company having operated pleasure trips since 1844 and the world's first dedicated cruise ship in 1881. It is the sister company of, and retains strong links with, P&O Cruises Australia. P&O Cruises was de-merged from the P&O group in 2000, becoming a subsidiary of P&O Princess Cruises plc, which subsequently merged with Carnival Corporation in 2003, to form Carnival Corporation & plc. P&O Cruises currently operates seven cruise ships and has a 2.4% market share of all cruise lines worldwide. Its most recent vessel, flagship Britannia, joined the fleet in March 2015.
