A beautiful vineyard in the Cowichan valley with great views. I look forward to opening their dry Black Muscat after some aging, this is only vineyard I know of producing this as a dry red wine versus a desert wine. Stunning views here and no expense has been spared on their tasting room and facilities, keep your eyes on this vineyard!!
Wine Wednesday - Cowichan Valley with Blue Grouse Estate Winery
2014 Pinot Noir by Blue Grouse Estate Winery
Blue Grouse Estate Winery
Nestled in a hillside among the Blue Grouse vines is a quaint, European-style tasting room. Wait. Scratch that. It’s a Canadian-style tasting room, and it’s right at home in Vancouver Island’s Cowichan Valley. This was the Kiltz family home, where Hans used the basement and garage as his winery. Today, we call it The Manor House, and think it should be a required stop on any wine tasting tour.
Blue Grouse Estate Winery is located in Cowichan Valley and has been producing wine since 1992. In the early days it was pioneer wine making but with success the winery has transformed into a must visit destination. In 2015 the brand new wine shop and tasting room will open to the public creating an even more enjoyable tasting experience for Vancouver Islanders and wine lovers alike.

Wine Is Serious Business 327: Tasting Vancouver Island
Dan visited Vancouver Island this past summer, and visited a few wineries while he was up there. It was fun to talk with people in a very new wine region, and fun to taste the different things they’re growing as they learn about the possibilities of the region. For the show, we taste the 2014 Millstone Ortega, the 2012 Averill Creek Pinot Noir, and the 2014 Chateau Wolff Pinot Noir. What’s the next non-local wine region you’d like to visit?
