Trail Running (Blue Hills, Milton)
Its alway an awesome feeling to be able to run together with my wife, leaving busy lifestyle behind and enjoy the nature.
MTB Blue Hills, Milton Ma
723 Blue Hill Ave | Milton, Massachusetts real estate & homes
- Welcome to Milton, Massachusetts. Located just 8 miles South of Boston, Milton is a town of approximately 27,000 residents and home to the Blue Hills Reservation which offers 7,000 acres of
protected land with hiking, biking and skiing. In 2007 and 2009, Money Magazine listed Milton as the
7th and 5th, respectively, on it's annual list of Best Places to Live in the United States. All six public
school buildings are new and the facilities are state of the art. A popular French Immersion program
starts in the first grade and continues through the 12th grade. Milton is also home to the prestigious
co-educational, independent preparatory, boarding and day school Milton Academy. We love having the
city of Boston in our backyard with its shopping, dining, theatre and cultural enrichment just a short 15
minute ride by public transportation or car.
Calling all naturalists! If you're looking for that private place to escape when the rest of the world just
doesn't shut down...our brick front raised ranch is just the ticket. The setting on a side lane far from the
maddening crowd offers close to two acres of land. With eight rooms, two full baths this well loved
home is in outstanding condition and has loads of potential to expand for a growing family. This open
floor plan has a contemporary feeling. We hope you'll agree.... it's priced to sell. Watch the video tour
and call today for an appointment.

Running Ponkapoag Pond Trail, Blue Hills, Milton, MA
In this series, Kristen introduces running in the Ponkapoag Pond section of the Blue Hills Reservation in Milton, Massachusetts.
Trail Run: 4 mile loop on the Ponkapoag Pond Trail
Trail Directions: Turn right at Exit 3 off I-95 South into a tiny parking area. The info kiosk is at the end of the parking area by a dirt access road. Run .25 miles on the access road where the trail (marked with Green dots) intersects. The loop can be completed either clockwise (continue STRAIGHT at the intersection) or counter-clockwise (turn LEFT at the intersection onto a narrower trail). Running the first means a winding downhill at the start of your run and a gradual uphill climb over roots and rocks in the last 2 miles. Running the later means a rocky start in the first 2 miles with a winding hill climb in the final .25 miles.
Trail Map: Available at Trailside Museum and at the info kiosk in the parking area
Trail Conditions: Wide, dirt packed, protruding roots and rocks (especially in the 2 mile section from Fisherman's Beach to the trailhead)
Trail Difficulty: Easy to Moderate (not as technical as other trails run or in the Blue Hills but still a worthwhile training run)
Trail Notes: Parking is limited and fills quickly. Additional parking is located at Houghton's Pond. No restroom facilities provided in this location. Loop feels longer than 4 miles but is enjoyable, especially the 400 meter section through the Ponkapoag Golf Course (please obey signage in season). Numerous wildlife including coyotes.

Otter backflips - Blue Hills near Boston
Found this guy before going on a hike at the Blue Hills Trailside Museum, just outside of Boston. Not sure if he was showing off, was hungry, bored, or all of the above, but he did about 10 backflips in a row for us.
No audio on this, since it was an non otter-related conversation.
There are a couple other videos of him out there doing this, apparently it's a hobby of his.

Went to blue hills reservation museum in Milton, Massachusetts
Solo Day Hike - Blue Hills Reservation
I went for a short solo hike today at the Blue Hills Reservation south of Boston, MA. I took the blue Skyline trail from the reservation headquarters over to Eliot Tower on Great Blue Hill. I then hiked the remainder of the loop back to the trail head.
It was a great quick day hike and gave me a chance to start breaking in some new Keen Pyrenees hiking boots (which have been fantastic so far).

About .25 miles on the Skyline Trail you will hit the first cliff. If you climb up to the top and look out you can see beautiful views of the rest of Blue Hills Reservation.
Starting from the Blue Hills Reservation Headquarters in Milton, MA is the most common way to hike up the Skyline Trail but there are many other ways to enter.
