Nafpaktos or Lepanto is a town in West Greece. It is conveniently located less than 3 hours drive from Athens Airport and 30 minutes from the Port of Patra. It is great for vacation due to its strategic location and affordability.
Landmarks:
The port and castle provide the main attraction for the town, both with well kept Venetian vestiges. Shops, cafés and bars dot the immediate area, while a café is also located within the castle walls.
The port also includes monuments commemorating the Battle of Lepanto (1571), and there is also a statue of the Cervantes by the Mallorcan artist Jaume Mir.
A small water park is located just past the western portion of the beach near Psani (currently closed).
Nafpaktos is also home to a local museum.
The Fethiye Mosque, the city's largest Ottoman-era mosque.

TRIP#6: Nafpaktos, Greece
◉ Information ◉
Nafpaktos (Greek: Ναύπακτος) is today a town and a former municipality in Aetolia-Acarnania, West Greece, Greece; its predecessor in the classical period is known in English as Naupactus. Nafpaktos is situated on a bay on the north coast of the Gulf of Corinth, 3 km (2 mi) west of the mouth of the river Mornos. The harbour is accessible only to the smallest craft. It is 9 km (6 mi) northeast of Antirrio, 18 km (11 mi) northeast of Patras, 35 km (22 mi) east of Missolonghi and 45 km (28 mi) southeast of Agrinio. The Greek National Road 48/E65 (Antirrio - Nafpaktos - Delphi - Livadeia) passes north of the town. It is the second largest town of Aetolia-Acarnania, after Agrinio.

Run Nafpaktos
This video runs from the end of Psani to the horbor and back to Psani and then on along the road toward Antirio. The music starts in the 70ies and contrasts Markopoulos lamenting how everything is mass produced and American with Imiskoubria discovering an entire Greece in Astoria NY. It ends with Ole Ole Ola commemorating our beloved Greece's miserable performance at the world cup against Costa Rica.Near the end you may see in the distance the Rio-Antirio Bridge. The most aesthetically beautiful bridges I have ever crossed and one of the world's longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges.
A little history: Nafpaktos is truly ancient. It is where the very first Greek tribes crossed to the Peloponnese (I'm guessing 1500BC?) and thus it's name (Naf - ship). It was a naval base during the Peloponessean war 455BC. Western Europeans know it as Lepanto. In October of 1571, the legendary Battle of Lepanto took place between the Ottomans and Europeans, leading to the victory of the Europeans. This battle marked the decline of the Ottoman Empire. Among the soldiers to participate in this fight was Miguel de Cervantes, in the Spanish fleet and he lost his left arm in the battle. His statue is found today in the harbor and you can see it in the video. The Venetian castle with it's five rings can also be see in places.

The majority of journalists around the world have chosen to develop their subject on controversial and sensational themes: violence, war, crime. But all these facts represent only 1% of our world and its inhabitants, forgetting the remaining 99% of which we never speak.
I chose to visit every country on the planet and film them to present them in High Definition format but in a raw way, without music, without comment. Simply, reality in all its truth. Thus, you will be able to make your own idea of the world in which you live.
Currently, I have already visited nearly 170 countries and my world tour continues thanks to you who follow me.
