Remote North Cascades National Park - Best Parks Ever - 4346
As seen on Travel Channel. You'll be blown away by 9,000 ft. peaks at the remote, North Cascades National Park. It has more than half the glaciers in the lower 48 states.
You can see North Cascades National Park by driving through it on the Cascade Loop, on Highway 20 to the Diablo Dam. If you head east, you'll see the 22 miles long, Ross Lake Overlook, which is a great fishing spot for rainbow trout.

Blue Lake and Cascade Pass Hikes - North Cascades National Park, WA
Jade Lake Hike - Washington State
Jade Lake, located above Marmot Lake in the Cascade Mountain range of Washington State is magical, with bright azure colored water from Lynch Glacier and a towering mountain backdrop. The scramble route above Marmot Lake can be challenging when the rocks are coated with ice, but for those with mountaineering skills that wish to enjoy the essence of the Pacific Northwest in complete solitude, going there in mid October can be a once in a lifetime experience.

The Bluest Lake: Diablo Lake | North Cascades Road Trip

Diablo Lake was an amazing place to visit. The lake really is the bluest body of water I have ever seen, and no matter how long I looked at it I just couldn't pull away. On this trip I also hiked Sourdough Mountain, but we had to turn back because my dad wasn't feeling too well. We also stopped at Washington Pass Overlook to see Liberty Bell Mountain. We stayed the night in the western-themed town of Winthrop, Washington, which in itself was quite the adventure.
NOTE, added July 28, 2017:
Since publishing this video last year, the number of views has been growing exponentially over the last two months. I never thought that this would be my first video to surpass 1,000 views, which it achieved on July 5, 2017. Looking back at this video now, there were so many missed opportunities for vlogging and there's some stuff I would have cut out. Plus, I know the song can get annoying, so I should have used more than 1 song. But, understanding these things just shows my growth over the past year of making YouTube videos. I'm glad that this video is starting to do well, I just wish I had done a better job with it.
Thanks for watching. Next time I visit North Cascades National Park, I want to actually make it up to one of the lookouts. Until my next North Cascades trip, you can check out my more recent videos (which are of higher quality). Plus, my MONTANA roadtrip is coming on August 7!

Top 10 Family Friendly Trails Western Washington
More Trails GPS + Video: botnw.com
Western Washington is rich with adventure for families of all types.
To get started, here are ten of our favorite family-friendly trails.
GPS + Video Guide:
1. Discovery Park Outer Loop Trail: Ask a Seattleite what the biggest most spectacular park in the city is chances are they will reply “Discovery” without missing a beat.
With dramatic open vistas from the south bluffs, descending the winding trails, through the woods to the rocky beach the Outer Loop Trail has it all.
2. Point Defiance Perimeter Loop Trail: Busy beaches to quiet secluded forest, old growth trees, high bluffs and spectacular Puget sound views; you will see them all on the outer loop trail.
3. Barclay Lake Trail: A short tree covered streamside hike to Barclay lake is a perfect diversion for little legs with a refreshing dip under the massive Mount Baring as the reward.
4. Twin Falls: Accessible from two directions, the Twin falls trail follows along the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River to the dramatic bridge-crossing viewpoint.
5. Iron Goat Trail: This historical gateway is a wonderful outing for scenery and deepening appreciation of the perseverance of the thousands of workers that forged the passage through this section of the Cascades.
6. Lake Dorothy Trail: Abundant with great swimming and some prime campsites. Lake Dorothy is a popular destination for these very reasons.
7. Blue Lake Trail: Steep in places but well graded this moderate hike arrives at beautiful North Cascades alpine Blue Lake.
8. Ozette Triangle Trail: The classic Ozette Triangle with three stretches of trail boardwalk to beaches and forest connects the loop at the western most point in the continental United States.
9. Deception Pass Trails: With jaw dropping views around nearly every corner, this spectacular seaside route travels across tide pools, beaches, bridges and bluffs.
10. Greenwater Lakes Trail: Multiple river crossings, side waterfalls, massive trees and dramatic views down the Greenwater River gorge make this an engrossing hike for the entire family.
So the next time greet a Saturday morning with a sense of adventure and ask yourself what in the world are we going to do today? Remember, the trails await!
The next two steps are up to you.

Backpacking Thunder Creek in the North Cascades
Images from a solo backpacking trip up the Thunder Creek trail in the North Cascades of Washington State.
Thunder Creek starts out in Ross Lake National Recreation Area at Colonial Creek Campground, then meanders south along Thunder Creek through old-growth forests of Western Redcedar and Douglas Fir, crossing into North Cascades National Park after about 7 miles.
Thunder Creek is unique in that it is the most glaciated watershed in the entire United States. About 50 glaciers drain into Thunder Creek. The North Cascades is the most glaciated mountain range in the United States with more than 200 named glaciers.
Thunder Creek trail offers good options for out-and-back day hikes, or multi-day treks through the North Cascades, connecting with trails to Stehekin or Cascade Pass in the southern portion of the National Park. Backcountry permits are required.
My first night's stay was spent at McAllister Camp at 6.7 miles in, and the next night was at Junction, 8.9 miles in. From here I had views through the trees of the Boston Glacier, largest glacier in the Park.

North Cascades National Park Day 1 in 4K
On June 1, 2016, we drove to North Cascades National Park in Washington.
Cape Flattery | WONDERFUL Washington Coast
Cape Flattery in Washington State is the Northwestern most part of the contiguous United States. It's a breathtaking coastal area filled with sea caves, arches, clear blue water and an easy trail lined with delicious salal berries. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring this area and learning more about the delicate balance of this coastal ecosystem.

Dry Falls in Washington State, World's greatest waterfall - just without the water

Dry Falls, WA
Most People Don’t Know The Fascinating Story Behind Washington’s Dry Waterfall. If you live in Washington, you may have heard of Sun Lakes-Dry Falls State Park in Coulee City. You may have even heard that Dry Falls used to be, well, not dry. But the story behind this beautiful area is actually pretty fascinating.
Between 10,000 and 20,000 years ago, glaciers moved south through North America during the end of our last Ice Age. An ice sheet dammed the Clark Fork River near Sandpoint, Idaho, causing a big portion of Western Montana to flood. Around the same time, Glacial Lake Columbia was formed on the Columbia River, which was dammed with ice. The flood swept past Western Montana, Northern Idaho and much of Eastern Washington, carving the coulees and Channeled Scablands from the basalt. The flow of that flood water was estimated to be 10 times the flow of all rivers in the world combined. The sudden flooding put parts of these states under hundreds of feet of water in only a few days. This extraordinary flooding is what greatly enlarged the Grand Coulee and Dry Falls in a short period of time. Palouse Falls was also formed by these floods. Visiting Sun Lakes-Dry Falls State Park allows you to get an up close and personal view of the power of Mother Nature. The park is located on State Highway 17 just south of Highway 2 in the middle of the state. You can make a day trip to Sun Lakes-Dry Falls State Park happen no matter what part of Washington you call home. That being said, it would probably be a long day, so you’re free to spend the night a few miles from the park at the Sun Lakes Campground.

Pleasant Valley Campground, Wenatchee National Forest, Washington Campsite Photos
The campground stretches out in two sections along the American River in a stand of mixed conifers including White and Douglas fir. There is a grass and wildflower meadow at the east end of campground. The campground is close enough to State Rt. 410 for an overnight stop but it's tranquil atmosphere beckons visitors to stay longer. Traffic noise is minimal. Privacy is good. See the huge red ant hills along the Pleasant Valley Nature Trail -advise against taking dogs on the trail.
