U.S. Senate: Impeachment Trial (Day 3)
The Senate impeachment trial of President Trump continues with opening arguments from House managers and the President’s defense team.
Operation Frequent Wind
Operation Frequent Wind was the final phase in the evacuation of American civilians and at-risk Vietnamese from Saigon, South Vietnam prior to the takeover of the city by the North Vietnamese Army (PAVN) in the Fall of Saigon. It was carried out on 29–30 April 1975, during the last days of the Vietnam War. More than 7,000 people were evacuated by helicopter from various points in Saigon. The airlift resulted in a number of enduring images.
Evacuation plans already existed as a standard procedure for American embassies. At the beginning of March, fixed-wing aircraft began evacuating civilians from Tan Son Nhut Airport through neighboring countries. By mid-April, contingency plans were in place and preparations were underway for a possible helicopter evacuation. As the imminent collapse of Saigon became evident, Task Force 76 (TF76) was assembled off the coast near Vung Tau to support a helicopter evacuation and provide air support if required. In the event, air support was not needed as the North Vietnamese paused for a week at the outskirts of Saigon, possibly waiting for the South Vietnamese government to collapse and avoiding a possible confrontation with the U.S. by allowing the mostly-unopposed evacuation of Americans from Saigon.

Chapter 10 4:05:57 - Exploration Updates
To fully explore and understand the ocean, we can no longer rely on a handful of large, expensive research vessels and vehicles. We truly need all hands on deck to do it.
On November 8-9, 2018, we brought together leaders and changemakers in ocean exploration, entertainment, recreation, and art to imagine new ways to empower an open, inclusive global community of ocean explorers. Our goal is to imagine creative ways to make the ocean so pervasive in modern culture that everyone has a positive association with and understanding of the sea.

Air Force One
Air Force One is the official air traffic control call sign of a United States Air Force aircraft carrying the President of the United States. In common parlance the term refers to those Air Force aircraft specifically designed, built, and used for the purpose of transporting the president. The Presidential aircraft is a prominent symbol of the American presidency and its power.
The idea of designating specific military aircraft to transport the President arose in 1943, when officials of the United States Army Air Forces – the predecessor to the U.S. Air Force – became concerned with relying on commercial airlines to transport the President. A C-87 Liberator Express was reconfigured for use as a presidential transport; however, it was rejected by the Secret Service amid concerns over the aircraft's safety record. A C-54 Skymaster was then converted for presidential use; this aircraft, dubbed the Sacred Cow, transported President Franklin D. Roosevelt to the Yalta Conference in February 1945, and was subsequently used for another two years by President Harry S. Truman.

Today we will be spending a day in Miami Beach. Miami Beach is a city on several man-made and natural barrier islands that are situated across the Biscayne Bay from Miami city proper. Several bridges connect it to Miami. It’s a municipality in its own right, even though many visitors think that it is part of Miami. The best time to visit is between November and April because the weather is dry and not as hot and humid as during the summer months.
Many start their day in Miami Beach early. So do the pelicans that hunt in the waters of Biscayne Bay for their breakfast just after sunrise.
Standup paddleboarding, enjoying a barefoot walk or a run on the beach, swimming, or yoga are a few of the great ways to start the morning in Miami Beach.
Miami Beach is well-known worldwide for its… you guessed it — beaches! Whether you lounge under an umbrella at one of the boutique hotel beaches around Twentieth Street, or join the locals for some sunshine and people-watching around Third Street, there is something for everyone.
The Fisher Island is just across the water. It is an exclusive neighbourhood only accessible by private boat or a ferry. The ownership changed through its history but until the 1980s it used to be owned by one family. Now there are apartment buildings and mansions there owned by America’s “rich and famous”. The total population of this island as of the 2000 census is just under 500 people. It is possible to visit Fisher Island if you have an invitation from a resident or are going to the Fisher Island Club.
Many of the hotels and vacation rentals in condominiums are a popular place to stay for “snowbirds” that escape the cold of the Northern USA and Canada during the winter months. Summer is the off-season here because of the heat. Many of the rentals are empty during the summer.
Miami is famous for its Art Deco architecture. Many of the Art Deco buildings are located around the South Beach near Ocean Drive. Most of them were erected between mid 1920s and mid 1940s, and the district has the largest collection of Art Deco buildings in the world. The pastel tone buildings, the palm trees, the neon signs — as soon as you enter this area you will recognize it.
Recently the area became known as the center of the art, hosting the annual art show, Art Basel Miami Beach. The show features contemporary art works from several hundred art galleries from several dozen countries.
Now let us take a stroll along the boardwalk, which runs along the beach for 4 miles (or 6 kilometers). Many enjoy jogging, or rollerblading along it, or you could simply walk to find your favourite beach. Some of the boardwalk is paved, some of it is a raised wooden deck, and all along the boardwalk the views of the beach are breathtaking.
In 2014 the new South Pointe Park Pier was opened at the Southern edge of Miami Beach. It replaced the old structure that has been deemed unsafe for use.
By noon there are many people at the beach swimming, exercising, taking photos. Even though it could get a bit crowded you can sometimes glimpse manatees just off the shore.
Beach volleyball is one of the favourite past-times, and there are nets in South Beach around the Ocean Drive that are free for use.

Master of the 'Man Weave' Gives Balding Men Confidence
At the end of 2017, the black hair care industry in the U.S. was worth $4.2 billion, according to Nielsen, with black shoppers spending $473 million on their hair. That huge spend is getting even bigger thanks to a new option for men with hair loss: man weaves.
Man weaves, or male units, are exploding in popularity, filling the chairs and wallets of the talented few barbers who have cornered the market.
John Cotton works at Leona Wilson Salon on 45th Street in Midtown Manhattan. He is one of the talented few helping men make the transformation. He is known for styling designer Virgil Abloh, billionaire Robert Smith, Jussie Smollett from Empire, and Jay Pharaoh of Saturday Night Live. Now he is getting attention for giving men their hair back.
John started doing man weaves about two years ago. He charges $300 to $700 for weaves that last anywhere from one to four months. The longer-lasting weaves require maintenance every two to three weeks, which runs $75 to $100.
John says his clients are thinning or balding, have receding hairlines, or have had cancer. He says he gives them their confidence back with hair. So much confidence that John is doing man weaves around the clock. A lot of days, he is at the salon doing weaves back-to-back-to-back from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
And the results are pretty impressive. The day we visited, John's client was absolutely speechless when he saw the end result. John says that seeing guys leave with a full head of hair—and knowing he did it—is the most exciting part.
