Raynon Canyon - Blue Mountains - Australia
One from the Vault.
Bryn, Michael, Jodie, Andrew & Tim in Raynon Canyon in the Blue Mountains Australia.
Raynon Canyon starts out from Mt Tomah and eventually joins into Claustral Canyon at the end..
A nice alternative to the classic but often crowded Claustral.
One Day - Moderate canyon (grade 3).
A hell of a way to spend your birthday (Michael).
This is retro footage from February 2006.
Taken with my old Sony DVD camera in a huge waterproof housing.
Pity the battery went flat so quick from the cold.

Claustral Canyon - Blue Mountains - Australia
Bryn, Paul, Dave L, Dave H, Peter & Andrew in Claustral Canyon. A high grade canyon near Mt Tomah in the Blue Mountains Australia. Trip takes between 5 and 10 hours, depending on the size, age & fitness of your party. I've done this canyon about 15 times and still love it. It is awe inspiring.

Taken with my Sony DVD camera in a waterproof housing.
Sorry about the water beading on the lens cover.
Original 1 hour video condensed to 15 mins, yet it still tells the story.

Blue Mountains Walks: The Waterfall Track Mt Wilson NSW Australia
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!
The basalt cap of Mt Wilson has weathered to produce a rich soil on which subtropical rainforest thrives. Much of the area has been converted to European style gardens but significant areas remain undisturbed on the flanks of the mountain.
This walk descends from a picnic area to a series of small waterfalls in the rainforest before ascending by another route. Highly recommended.

Blue Mountains Walks: Waterfall Circuit South Lawson NSW Australia
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!
This walk was just right for me both in length and order of difficulty. I hope you get to enjoy it too.
The walk takes in a series of waterfalls on three different creeks, along a circuit which you can easily cover in less than 2 hours.
The tracks and signage are in good order and the Blue Mountains City Council is to be congratulated for this. The reserve is not part of the Blue Mountains National Park, nor are many of the lesser known scenic gems in the mountains.

The approach is via Honour Avenue on the southern side of Lawson and their are parking areas at both ends of the track. Children will enjoy the pools and sandy areas in summer.

Abandoned 5: The Blue Mountains
Here is some darker secrets and forgotten past achievements, that are hidden within the Blue Mountains, reminding us of our history and are being left to slowly return to mother natures grasp.
In this short movie, i traveled around the blue mountains over several weekends filming several sites, which include;
- The Queen Victoria Sanatorium
Established in 1903 as a treatment centre for Tuberculosis. It eventually became a nursing home for the elderly and has since been closed after the discovery of asbestos. For more information;
- Eurama Castle
Eurama Estate has seen many owners throughout its history and in recent times has been heritage listed, which has prevented further development of the site. An amazing piece of history that has unfortunately been heavily damaged and graffiti-ed by vandals.
For more information;
- Mount St. Mary’s College and Convent
The place known as Mount St Mary's College and Convent and subsequently the Renaissance Centre is of State significance because of its connection over an extended period of time with the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity in Australia, the oldest such order in Australia, and with its unbroken association with education from 1909 - 1991.
The site is currently listed for sale for excess of $5,000,000, however with rumours of a ghostly apparition of a nun that walks the grounds, it is unlikely to be sold anytime soon. For more information;
- Glen Davis shale oil works
The former oil producing plant, that was mainly used as part of Australia's backup plan in world war 2, now lays forgotten and in ruins, nestled in the world's second largest canyon, known as Capertee valley. For more information;
I shot this footage using DJI's Mavic Air Drone. I cannot recommend this drone enough, the blue mountains can get windy and for the final site at Glen Davis, the wind was blowing at 25kmph+, yet it was not even phased by this.
Music was supplied by Atom Music Audio and composed by Lisa Van Hal. The song title is Divine. The full album can be found here;
Resources include;
-Sparkle green screen
- Dust particles
- Metal textures

FULL SCRIPT:
Today we are visiting Wollemi National Park; 1 hour west of Sydney, just past Richmond.
We are escaping the hustle of the city, to visit the regions pristine world heritage listed rainforest & to explore the convict built lumber trails.
Quad biking is a great way to get around; you could even pack a hamper & a bottle of bubbles to make it a romantic escape.
These convict logging trails, built in around 1830, were designed to transport lumber out of the region for distribution by bullock teams to Sydney; the rain forest has been untouched since the early 1900s & is in remarkable condition.
Renowned for its pristine rainforest, the area is home to the famous prehistoric Wollemi pine, which was only recently discovered in 1994 & is credited as being one of planet earth's oldest & rarest species.
The narrow convict lumber tracks are accessible by foot or quad & feature stunning vistas, plants & wildlife; the areas rich history even includes several aboriginal caves paintings.
The trail ends at the river in the valleys base, a great place to freshen up in the mountain filtered waters.
A variety of short & long stay packages are available in one off designed, craftsman built cottages; the region has great restaurants which are renowned for their top quality, local produce. All this only a short drive from Sydney's bustling CBD.
